Are You Providing What She Needs? Ep 242
Let’s get something straight: physical needs are important and must be provided for. But, emotional needs are equally important. In my work I have specifically developed an exercise to get couples to begin to recognize these needs and how they can go about them to improve the provision of satisfying the emotional requirements that we all have.
Here are the Emotional Needs:
Control
Love
Respect
Trust
Security
Affection
Purpose
Faith
Every person has a need for these in their lives, but here is where things get interesting.
Think about needs like you would think about food. We all need a certain number of calories in order to survive. We would never look at a person that needs 3000 cal/day and tell them they should just eat 1500 cal/day because that’s what another person needs. We are all different with different levels of need. The same holds true with the emotional needs.
Just for the sake of having a reference point, use a scale of 1-10 and rate yourself in each of the following emotional needs. For right now, don’t think too much, just give yourself a score and reason why you scored yourself that number. (We all have slightly different definitions and territories, or “taste” in each of these areas. Just like food!)
What happens when you don’t get the amount or type of food you need? Hungry, malnourished, etc… The same holds true with not reaching the number you wrote next to your emotional need. You begin to starve emotionally!
Here’s where provision comes in. Within our marriage, we have the responsibility to help meet the needs of our spouse. This includes emotional needs. And as I said earlier, seldom do we see a couple due to a physical need not being met, food, water, shelter, but, we regularly see couples because emotional needs are not being met.

Honoring Your Wife - Proverbs 31 - Ep 241
Переглядів 8314 днів тому
As a Strong Dad and husband, we are to honor our wives. Proverbs 31 gives us a biblical description of this lady. Proverbs 31:10-31 (NIV): 10 A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. 11 Her husband can trust her, and she will enrich his life. 12 She brings him good and not harm all the days of her life. 13 She is a diligent and hardworking woman. 14 She rises w...

Wow Hutch. Fond memories of high school swimming days. I remember when you first jumped came to the swim team and showed me just how fast you were at 50 yards at the time. Then in the weight room knocking off more dips than anyone. You may also remember Tim Cahill who coached for a short time and pushed us to the next level. Rudy came from Eastern Kentucky University where Tim then moved to be the assistant coach. Both brought integrity to their coaching. I think I got in Rudy's face as much as he did in mine to push me to believe I could do more. One more pull, one more push, come on...don't breathe the last 10 yards and stretch. I appreciate you sharing your memories and inspiration coach Rudy brought to all.

Hey Guy! Great to read your comments. Yes, I remember Coach Tim, and even a couple of other coaches that preceded Rudy. I remember Rudy getting on you even more than the rest of us. You carried the most talent on the team and he was going to do everything possible not to let you waste it. At the end of the day, I think it's safe to say that we are all better for how he pushed us. Hope you are doing well.

Also, you'll be so glad to get your knee done! I had one done in 2020 and one in 2021. I always tell people at 2 days you'll think what have I done?! At 2 weeks, you'll think this isn't so bad, and at 2 months you'll think why didn't do this sooner?! Prayers for speedy healing! 🙏

"Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses." -1 Timothy 5:23 NIV. We see Paul tell Timothy to drink here in the Bible. He has his reason, but importantly it isn't to get drunk. It is to help take care of himself. See there is medical benefit!

When women turn against their husband then sympathy, empathy, mercy can only make things worse. Show her the open road. A betrayal is a sin, and trying to understand or forgive just shows weakness, and she will look upon you as weak or a pushover or walkover and bad things will happen again. I recommend a zero tolerance policy. A friend came home from work, found his girlfriend in bed with another man, he immediately took the contents of her wardrobe placed them on the front lawn and burnt the lot, took her house keys and car keys and cut them up with a disc grinder. Zero tolerance. None of these things have happened to me. I have never got married and most likely I never will. Once a bond of trust and honesty has been broken then it's gone for ever just like a broken or cracked mirror. She will have to receive at least seven years bad luck.

    • @strongdads9613
      @strongdads9613 2 роки тому

Cer Velo Thanks for your comment. Much of what you say about zero tolerance makes sense, but sometimes life gets a little more complicated than what you’re describing. Putting kids in the mix along with many other variables of life make this far more challenging. Not to mention that at Strong Dads we want to know what Christ would want us to do. Like the old saying goes, “before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes.”
