I know this video is a year old, but I really enjoyed this. You’re a good teacher.

It doesn’t make sense to buy an aluminum table and insert it into a cheap plywood table. The plywood warps over time and is not durable when running material. It should at least have a layer of laminate on it for strength and durability and ability to slide. It is also hard to get at the router on the larger table. This Bosch top has flaws. First, the table insert uses through bolts and nuts to secure it to the aluminum table…really inconvenient to get the plate in and out. Second, the router plastic inserts are not flush with the plate insert. Material will catch on the three inserts. I had to make 1/16 inch wide shims from a bookmark thickness and glue them to the inserts to get them up to flush. Third, the table slot is not a t slot. Can’t understand why Bosch would do this. At any rate the wood table has to be routed for the slot.

Thank you for posting this. I'm also having to replace mine when it randomly stopped working after about 5 uses. Does it seem crazy that the consumer has to replace the motherboard? I Just seems like an extremely detailed process that customer support should take care of. But whatta I know. I've wasted so much time with this thing. Really wish I had bought the CO2 laser. this thing seems so easy to go wrong and such a long process with customer support and then this to attempt a solution.

What’s the thickness on the barrel stave?

Waiting for one myselg since the entire machine stopped. Used a multimeter on the motherboard and it was still reciving power, but no lights turning on and PC wouldn't detect it. I imagine i corrupted it as the switch was always in the "upload" position, which I didn't know since the text is underneath the machine and nothing in in the instructions mentioned it, not clearly anyway!

Got mine this week after seeing very good reviews on this "budget" drill press. One pro said this $210 drill was as good as a $1000 drill. He was very impressed with it. I'm already enjoying it ! Thanks for the review

Just what I needed to see. Have similar set up and yes, X Tool's puny fan just doesn't cut it. One could wish X tool would upgrade their enclosure for the price one pays for it.

I just bought 1 and returned within 1 day . The spindle chatter was absolutely horrendous. When I turned on it made such a horrible noise Im kinda skeptical to buy another 1. Do u have spindle chatter, im not talking about the regular run out this chattered so bad i could not get a reading on my run out dial. The 4214t seemed it was very well made. Maybe i got a lemon, I have a 4208 for 4 years. Wen is very good for a low end drill press. Any info about your experience would be great thanks

good looking work mate. I cant be sure from the angle of the camera, but the cut looks as if you used the grinding disc to cut with. cleanup will be a shit load easier if you use a cutting disc. I have been using a wire brush attachment on my cordless angle grinder to clean off the burnt side and it works great giving a slightly burnished look to the charcoal.

...buy an angle grinder and use flap discs and save some time...I've been building adirondack chairs, bars, stools with whiskey barrel staves for years and flap discs are the second best way. an inflatable standing ball sander is the best but expensive...

Still dust...you will always have dust when routering! 🙄

Just a tip. A pressure washer works fantastic for removing the char and getting the grit and dirt off while still leaving all of the beautiful patina.

Glad I found your video. I have never been able to solve the dust control problem under my router. That attachment from Etsy seems like it will be perfect. Thanks! Also, Rockler makes offset router collet wrenches that might easily solve your problem with getting your wrenches on the collet. They make three different ones specific to Porter Cable, Dewalt and Bosch. The Bosch item number is 59245. I have a set for my Bosch 1617 and they work great.

I'm not sure I'd trust just twisting the wires together unless your heat shrink is the type that has a sealant inside of it. I'm still waiting on my drag chain setup to get here, and expect I'll need to do something similar to extend the wiring.

I did the same when I added the extension rails. I got off Amazon for 89.00 and it same quality as one you got. I built a riser base, squared it and secured to table. I cut a rabbets in the frame for honeycomb to be flush with frame and it is perfectly at 0/0. I used 3 pieces of 1/8 steel angle to hold honeycomb level and keep it from drooping in center

Looks like many folks are going to need this video since there obviously must be a bad batch of Motherboards being sold with the D1 Pro kits. I've had 2 10W kits and a 40W kit arrive DOA.

Do you know what items re needed for the d1 pro 40watt laser? The holes are not located on the bar with the laser for that one. Is there another kit for that one? Thanks for the help.
