Excellent walk-through, thank you! I could replace my display without deeper knowledge. The only difference on my side was that I have a Mac Book Pro 2021 16" and the display did not come with a proximity sensor cable. So I had to reuse the one from the old display. Great tutorial, thumbs up!

Please also make sure to mention the size of screws (add as graphic?)...the smaller pentalobes can be difficult to distinguish and inexperienced DYIers can easily strip the screws. Just thinking back to something I did when I first starting fixing my own MBs. Thank you for the video!

The battery is off by 2 degrees my OCD kicking in haha. So it doesn’t require a stupid special Apple authorized battery and you can use any battery?

If the previous Macbook Pro had drive encryption, APFS, is replacing the logic board enough to power the system on and recover data or another procedure including the logic board replacement has to be done? I can use Paragon software to confirm there is data on the drive but the software states it needs a password for access. At that point, I started thinking about replacing the logic board but then thought about encryption and if the CPU was related.

I've heard that these kind of repairs (outside Apple or Apple authorised centres) disables the true tone. Is it true?

Would you recommend replacing the thermal paste with a different one? I am thinking about getting maximum thermal efficiency on my laptop and one of my ideas was to drill some holes into the case,right under the heat pipes, so I can blow more air into the system with an external fan socket.

I got a headless A1708 (removed just the display), but is there an LVDS to HDMI converter for the vacant connector in the motherboard itself to use as a connector for direct contact to an external monitor instead of usb-c dongles?

Gotta love how none of these how to videos actually show you all the way to the desktop after booting that the color is messed up because of True Tone, or if there's a way to actually fix it besides having to pay Apple for the replacement part in order to get access to the calibration tool.
