It's a little dated, we got much better threads these days, but it sure does hold up well. I fish the floating nymph a lot especially during the Sulpher hatch we have here in the North East and in PA. A lot of the time, Its just something a little different to the fish than the usual imatations that are fished these days like the compardun, and the sparkle dun, that I been tying for more than four decades now. God how I remember those neropreme waders. Now if Sage would just make RP-II's again, my old 8'6" 5 wt, walked away. Maybe the best general purpose trout rod Sage ever made.

I was quite excited to make Frank's pheasant tail in his classic way as I always use a rotary...it was quite satisfying and turned out pretty ok for my first effort...will be honoured to use this on my stream..I never intertwined fibers and wire before either...many thanks !

Re the Carey Special, read the true history of the Carey Special in Steve Raymonds book "Kamloops", page 138-139, "He (Colonel Carey) started the fly when he was camped at Arthur Lake and I think dressed it for a dragonfly nymph. G. Needoba Kamloops BC
