I tried installing Linux Mint yesterday but I'm having no luck getting my USB to boot from bios. Could someone help me??

Switched to Linux years ago. I have used Mint, Ubuntu and Debian. All great distros. Don't be frightened of using the Gnome Desktop; it's really cool when you get used to it and you can use the Gnome "Dash To Panel" extension to customise it to your preferred format. Once you get used to Ubuntu, give Debian a spin; it's rip roaring fast and super stable and you can use "Debian Backports" to selectively update software versions to your own preferences - look them up; easy enough to work it all out. My wife uses Ubuntu and loves it. I use Debian for my home and business desktop computers. I use Reaper for Linux and Ardour in my recording studio and there are tons of other free apps if you are into audio. Absolutely love Linux and wouldn't dream of ever going anywhere near Windows again.

I swear on my behalf I need a laptop as soon as possible only to switch to linux immediatly, or like, just having a laptop without anything and then inserting linux 💀

All my software, some of which I wrote myself, is ALL IN WINDOWS, so why should I switch to (spits) Linux? Oh, and if I can run my Windows software in Wine, then I'd be doing that all of the time so I may as well STICK TO WINDOWS!

There isn't a consumer in the world who can function in the linux eco-system with the facility that they can in Windows. As long as Linux apps are as kludgey to install configure and run as they are now, it will never happen. Even Linus Torvalds says maintaining desktop systems for his family is almost not worth it. Until Linux developers do the hard work of providing apps that can be installed and configured by users without spending a day online trying to figure out why the step by step instructions didn't work, it will never ever be widely adopted by consumers, even savvy ones. I love linux and use it daily on several machines, but I pay the price every time I try to set up something simple like a remote desktop, or the new localhost service which also doesn't work. Years of work, and some sort of community co-ordination is required to bring this stuff even close to being "consumer friendly", which is decidedly is not in the current state.

Guys if you are moving over to any Ubuntu based systems the install command is sudo apt install (what ever package here)

Run with both, I remember when backdoors and malware were rampant on Windows you had to have a bootable Linux Distro on USB to do sensitive stuff, purchasing online or banking. Now it looks like it's gone the other way, Linux for your personal and everyday tasks. Windows for the junk useless data that Microsoft can collect on you haha 🖕

"Switch to Linux," they're saying. Mate, I did it yesterday. I'm using Bazzite and it's a pain in the arse. Nothing works as it should. My wireless headset cuts out sometimes, and I can't share my screen or an app Discord, it just loads forever. And I am not a Linux beginner. I have years of Fedora server experience (That's why I chose Bazzite). I also have had a Steam Deck for 2 years now and that thing works like it should.

ugh. does MS want to lose all its market share in a year? because their hardware requirements(and ram hogging) are gonna kill it for computers that can't run windows 11 and recall is gonna killl it for newer machines.

I switched to Ubuntu in around 2017-2018, I did it "cold-turkey" without prior knowledge on Linux (unless MSDOS counts, which does share some similarities with the Terminal) I haven't regretted a single day. There are days, situations and conversations where I remember that Windows exists, but generally I don't even think about it.

If Linux grew more and becomes in demand for computer companies, certainly, it will be an era of the downfall of the Windows OS, however, admit it or not, there are some applications that can only run in windows in which we wish it could also run on Linux as well

I'd argue that the last chapter applies to any OS. I've encountered just as many dead HDD and failed updated on Windows, as I have accidentally nuked my rootfs on linux.

I will say that the printer one is usually not an issue. Linux uses CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System) and it’s pretty good. It’s the same thing Mac OS (which is UNIX) uses for printing and it’s usually pretty seamless. I’m sure the odd printer exists that doesn’t work with it but it seems most do. I’ve used many printers, from many different manufacturers, and never once encountered one that didn’t work with it.

Mint never worked good out of the box for me. But I already used openSUSE fifteen years ago or Ubuntu or Debian. My Mini PC runs fedora, it's just more stable and uses less power, which is perfect because it's my TV machine.

I don't tolerate people/strangers opening my roadside mailbox, then envelopes, reading, recording, then taking with them all the information contained therein. Microsoft have stepped back from Recall being mandatory, as expected. Users will now be able to uninstall Recall from your machine if you do not wish to have/use the feature. Given the resistance to Recall, it was foolhardy of MS to even try and hardline approach.
