Photographing Weddings with Fujifilm Cameras - 3 Years Later | Stone Weddings
Переглядів 677Місяць тому
Three years ago, my wife and I started photographing weddings with Fujifilm cameras. We invested in a Fujfillm X100F, X-Pro3, X-T3, X-T4, X100V, then the X-H2s. I made this video to show my appreciation for these cameras and how much they've made a difference in both my personal and professional life. That all started with a Kevin Mullins video that I watched in September 2020. 4 years later an...

What a wild formula 1 weekend. Grateful to see Max's win streak come to an end. Nice to watch a Ferrari 1-2, but was hoping to see Leclerc finish at the top. What's going on with Hamilton and Mercedes? Surprised to see Checo not catch the McLarens or Ferraris. Sainz's win will definitely spark the conversations about the number of seats opening up next year. Thank you for stopping by and watchi...
AI used in the film industry? (Late Night With The Devil and Under Armour AI commercial)
Переглядів 5317 місяців тому
The WGA & SAG recently went on strike, one point being protections against AI. A few recent productions used AI in their final piece. I walk through a bit of the public opinion, share mine, and talk about challenges the industry may face in the future. I left out a big topic to talk about - the reuse of work. In the Under Armour ad, it's reused, and the DP from the original work shared that his...

Ryan Gosling saved the Oscars (Reaction to ‘I’m Just Ken’ performance)
Переглядів 11 тис.7 місяців тому
I always get a bit depressed around the Oscars. As a filmmaker, it's something we all aspire to, but it's a pretty unhealthy aspiration. You have no control over whether your work is recognized. I think Ryan's performance of 'I'm Just Ken' was so special because it's clear that people love him for who he is. Not just his work, but the relationships while making that work. 1:50 reacting to Ryan ...

Ollie Bearman, driver of the day! Wish Charles could've pulled off 2nd or better, but I guess I should get used to the pain. At least he got fastest lap. Another Max victory - I wonder when that'll end. Maybe the Red Bull internal drama will have an eventual on-track effect. We'll see. The penalty situation is weird in Formula 1. He DISCOVERED his parents. And our lovely Welsh lullaby _Suo Gan_ he sang as a choirboy was in the background as a reminder of the beauty of celebrating birth and being reborn. He saluted and sang _Suo Gan_ again to the Japanese Kamikaze pilots. Spielberg was brilliant in choosing a non-English song to transcend an English and Japanese speakers audience narrative. If you read the translation of the lullaby in context of the Kamikaze it'll make your weep buckets.😭😭

    from where I currently stand, AI in the arts is a way to capitalize on people who aren't conscious of the "human touches" of an end product. while that's not necessarily MOST people (for now) it's enough to justify and sustain its usage in the eyes of producers. there's something to be said about the evolutionary angle of things, its use as a tool in the trajectory of the Camera Lucida (wild device btw), CGI and digital workspaces. However, the automation of the process, and the demonstrable attempt to use it as a replacement for human work, is where most if not all of the backlash comes from. good piece as usual my man.

    Thank you for your review. 🤗 Ryan's performance (and the performance of, "I'm Just Ken", as a whole) was the only great thing about the Oscars, imo. He was not only brilliant, but funny, sincere, doesn't take himself too seriously (as award shows tend to do), and all of the nice touches of including his costars and Emma in on the sing-along, to his opening "exchange" with Mark, down to kissing the camera guy's hand were all *him*.. his way of connecting to everyone in genuine appreciation, and it speaks volumes about the type of person he is.. very "un- Hollywood". He's not better than anyone, and he shows you here. Warm, witty, charismatic, extremely talented but humble, this is why Ryan is so beloved. I can't stop watching this performance, and I hope Greta thinks about doing a Ken movie in the future, because it would be hilarious!🥰❤

    I think Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie should both cast Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, Gal Gadot, Timothee Chalamet, Emma Stone, and Gal Gadot in a Barbie sequel in my opinion. I think Stone should be cast as Barbie’s best friend Midge, who’s pregnant and fall in love with Gosling’s Ken, and Murphy as Human Ken in a real-world, who’s Sasha’s teacher and Margot’s human Barbie’s (Barbara) love interest. Hope they bring back Mark Ronson to compose and write more songs.

    Your intro about the Oscars was refreshing, and pretty much how I've felt about these awards shows for years. I initially assumed you were just going to go on a typical diatribe about how movies are stupid and celebrities are silly, etc. But you pretty much said that yes, this is a thing that aspiring artists couldn't help but dream about. And the knowledge that it statistically won't happen for most can be discouraging. So it's a sort of love/hate thing.

    • @GeoffStone
      @GeoffStone 7 місяців тому

      Man, I appreciate this! This is exactly what I was going for. It really is a love / hate. I don’t know if I’ll ever know the joy of winning an Oscar, but knowing that my work has an impact, and even more important, having actual joyful relationships in my life have been more than fulfilling.
