Mrs. Consorti - Learning Channel
United States
4 years ago I decided to make a UA-cam channel for my students to reference while doing their math homework. I am a 6th grade teacher who has taught it all. I have only been teaching ELA and Science these past few years and didn’t realize how much my math videos were helping others! I appreciate all of your support and kind words and plan on uploading more videos soon. :)
Graphing Points on a Coordinate Plane: The EASY Way!!
Remember how to graph points in an easier way!
- Think if the coordinate plane as a building.
- Your origin (0,0) is your entrance, or front door.
- The top quadrants are upstairs and bottom quadrants are downstairs.
- When you walk into the building, find your elevator, or staircase, first and then go upstairs or downstairs. (x,y)

Distributive Property - Algebraic Expressions with Variables
1. Variables are the letters in an expression. 2. The variable is like the “baby” and must stay with its “mom” at all times. 3. “Say hi, multiply” to each number (term) inside the “house”. 4. DO NOT add/subtract terms that are not alike! (5 and 5s are not the same…)
Ratio Quiz Review

Ratio Quiz Review for my 6th grade class - topics include: identifying ratios, equivalent ratios, value of ratios, ratio word problems
Sales Tax and Discount of an Item
* Things to Remember: 1. To find Discount: multiply percent (as a decimal) by the original price, then subtract from the original price. 2. To find Tax: multiply percent (as a decimal) by the item price, then add to the item price. 3. Change % to decimal by dropping percent and moving decimal 2 places to the left.
Finding Percent of a Number
*Things to Remember when using equivalent ratios: 1. is/of = %/100 2. Cross Multiply *Things to Remember when multiplying with decimals: 1. Change % to a decimal: drop the % and move decimal 2 places to left 2. Multiply with whole number (be careful of decimal places!)
Solving Ratio Problems Using a TAPE DIAGRAM
Things to Remember: 1. Write your ratio as a fraction and label next to each part. 2. Draw your boxes (connected or separated). 3. Match the additional info. with the part of your ratio. 4. Fill your boxes with the SAME number. 5. Multiply (or skip count) to get your new parts.
Solving Ratio Problems Using a Part-Part-Total-Difference Chart
Things to Remember: 1. Order Matters! 2. You must label your chart (the labels will help you!) 3. Total = ADD ; Difference = SUBTRACT
Factoring Out with the Distributive Property
Things to Remember: 1. There can be multiple answers depending on the number being factored out. 2. You can find GCF to help Factor out. 3. Be cautious of operation: addition (hi) or subtraction (bye). * If you use distributive property to check, you should end up with the original problem.
Distributive Property
Things to Remember: 1. "Say hi, multiply." (addition) 2. "Say bye, multiply." (subtraction) 3. Expression is left as addition or subtraction sentence. 4. Solve means add or subtract to get an answer. Check out how to do the Distributive Property with Algebraic Expressions (variables): ua-cam.com/video/XeawIgiMMsU/v-deo.html
Simplifying Fractions (Using Greatest Common Factor)
Things to Remember: 1. Always use your GCF to simplify. 2. Make sure you're dividing your numerator and denominator by the same number (GCF).
Finding Greatest Common Factor Using the Euclidean Algorithm (Dividing Method)
Things to Remember: 1. Your bigger number is your Dividend (number "inside the house") 2. Your smaller number is your Dividend (number "outside the house") 3. When you divide: If you have a remainder, divide again using your dividend and your remainder. 4. Divide until you get a remainder of ZERO. Your Dividend will be your GCF.
Finding Greatest Common Factor Using the F's Method
Things to Remember: 1. GCF = Greatest Common Factor 2. Greatest Common Factor = the biggest factor that is the same between 2 numbers 3. Think: Multiplication Facts
Dividing Fractions and Whole Numbers
Things to Remember: 1. Write whole number as a fraction (/1) 2. Keep - Change - Flip (KCF) 3. Change improper fraction * reciprocal = flip *
Graphing Ordered Pairs with Rational Numbers
Things to Remember: 1. Rational numbers are fractions and decimals. 2. Plotting = Graphing (they mean the same thing!)
