hi, I am currently a second-year fashion contour (lingerie design) student at LCF, studied business before and feel a bit lost with translating my ideas, and displaying my research (in a non photo past way) I am thinking about doing a fashion folio year before I go to my final year, bcs don't feel ready yet. Do you think this is a good idea?
hi Layla, I think you should try to connect with other fashion students and also talk with your tutors about that. It sounds like you already have a good educational background and it pains me to think that you'd have to invest yet more time and money on something your course should already be teaching you.
Could you give a list of the bunka books?
Hey Olivia! Thanks so much for sharing your Dixie Cup Sailor Hat pattern with us. I was wondering if you had some advice for order of assembly? Here's what I'm thinking: 1) Sew hat pieces together, 3 at a time. Then join halves together to make the top of the hat. 2) Sew bias pieces along the unfinished seams of the inner hat. 3) Add interfacing to outer brim. Fold over so good sides are facing together, and sew along short diagonal edge. 4) Fold over inner brim, and sew short edge together. 5) Join outer and inner brim together, good sides facing in. Sew along outer edge. I am not sure how to join the inside bias finish brim to the top of the hat and the brim. Do I want the bias to be unseen and positioned so that it's tucked between the brim and the top of the hat when the brim is folded up? Thanks so much!
sounds about right! the bias finish for the brim can be replaced by a ribbon, so you don't have to fold the edges. you can check a baseball cap for reference on how to finish
hello!! thank you so much for this helpful video. I wondered what material the slopers are made of, as shown in 01:28? I have used tagboard paper for my slopers, but these look much handier. thank you in advance for an answer
Hey Marcin! I think it's called a PP sheet, it's not quite acrylic and you can find in most art supplies shops. just make sure you don't buy it from hardware stores, as you might get something really tough and thick and much harder to cut with a craft knife

Hey Olivia, Your work is so so good, i had to mention. I need confirmation when you refer to the Nine month course you attended, was it one of the short courses of ual probably the one which says fashion folio. Thank You
@@mesmilling1552 thank you for your comment 🙂 Yes, it was Fashion Folio.
just found your channel, thank you for all of the info!
Very useful. Thanks.
U r soooo pretty & sexy 😰
you’re literally doing Gods work with these luxury blank reviews. Saving people so much time and money sampling.
I’d love to talk to you I have a BA Entrepreneurship really want to study Fashion at CSM I have no idea where to begin
probably a foundation degree, or a beginner-friendly course that'll teach you the skills needed for a foundation degree
Thank you so much for helping us out !! I'm starting out on my journey, would love to learn from you. Can we chat ?
Thank you! replied to your email :)
Hi, what size height are you? Just to gauge the dimensions of the T-shirt. Thank yo.
1.6m (5ft 3”) 🙂
Thanks for the video, i'll enter in the high school next year so I'm trying to find where is the best places to apply how I'm from Brazil and I'm trying to find locals out of my country this helped me to see if bunka works for me❤❤
I feel alot of these portugese luxury blank manufacturers price their wholesale pretty high, as a professional would you say that it just is the cost of making these clothing and the price is fair for the small brand starting up?
Great question! Yep, these pieces are not cheap, but nothing is when your minimum order quantity is not in the hundreds, unfortunately. For most manufacturers or mills, if you're not doing 300pcs or 300m, they won't even talk to you. Also, it's important to think: they're expensive compared to what? Many garment printing companies can make a 30-piece order of Gildan t-shirts with a simple 1-colour screenprint + your printed label for less than $15 each, and I've actually seen small luxury brands sell these for like $200 - so it's really up to you to understand if your brand can do that. Maybe your brand is already on the rise, and streetwear is a quick and easy choice for an existing audience that's eager to buy anything with your label on.
Você brasileira? 😮
Очень интересно. Благодарю Вас что делитесь своим творчеством. Благодарю за Ваш труд.❤
Thanks for the great content, Olivia! Quick question, why you made the decision to shut down your brand when you are so passionate about this?
Thanks for the comment, and great question! I was burnt out and making very little money, which is not a sustainable combination and I wasn't in any way gonna make a comeback any time soon. I'm enjoying some stability now, and if I ever decide to start a business again, I'll definitely go about it in a whole different way :)
@@OliviaSuguri thank you very much! Really praying and wishing for the best for you. You seem like an amazing person :) Content idea (if you plan on still doing content) "Learnings from x amounts of years of running my clothing brand", or something like this, maybe "What i wish i would have known before starting my brand" . I think it's very common to hear the big success stories, but for me personally, im much more interested in "learning" stories (as I believe the only "failure" is not trying or not doing) than the ""success"" ones
Yay new video! You look amazing. Congrats on the sponsorship, hope to see more of reviews like this soon ❤️ & this hoodie will be perfect for next year’s winter in Lisbon
Hi Olivia...fab job and just subscribed your channel 😊
Thank you so much, Pooja 😄😄
Thank you, I love your stories I'll start making the pattern of the sailor pants. Then I'll tell you how the project is going, only the blue fabric is missing.
[UPDATE] I no longer have a neutral stance re. ASBX after a flood of bots posting stellar reviews of alleged flawless service. This is HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS for a company positioning itself as high-end and premium! I did not prompt any of the negative reviews here, and this only reinforces my point about thoroughly researching your manufacturers and not coming into the industry unprepared - apparel manufacturing is infamous for widespread unethical practices.
ASBX is one big mess. Do not do business with them. I paid over more than € 3.000 for 200 custom made t-shirts that does not meet the techpack we have have sent a hundred times. They do nothing with your feedback, they blame you for the mistakes and the guy we have had contact with, Afonso Bento, is the worst communicator. We have now 191 t-shirts (9 are still missing) just laying here because we cannot sell them. They offered a compensation with which we can pay a part of the cost we have to make to fix the t-shirts. We only agree to this only if we get our money back from the 9 missing t-shirts. Strange enough they refuse to do that.
Can I ask , didn’t you have a background in fashion or ba before doing the grad dip / fashion folio course ? Thanks 😊
yeah, I went to Bunka Fashion College and some work exp. why?
Oh my goodness, thank you so much. I accidentally saw your blog talking about bunka school and I really wanted to go to that school because your introduction to the experience was so wonderful.
Bough Last Week the ASBX Hoodie. The item is excellent quality. However after contacting them learned the bulk orders can be long as they make all from scratch. do you know any way to make my items fast ?
Use someone else. They only take ages because they're not a manufacturer, they're an agency. If you go direct to a manufacturer you will get a speedier service and better price.
Hey! When applying to BA. Are the research pages consisting of just quick sketches and moodboard and mindmap and photos or is it something else. Could you give me an example of possible.
I showed my portfolio in another video :)
Olivia pls don’t stop creating videos, ur videos are so aesthetic gurl 😭
Thanks :) don't worry, just taking a (very long) break
By the way, love your video !!
Can anyone sell me that issue 6 magazine if they don’t use it anymore?
I couldn't find the English version of the books anywhere :(
that sucks :/ but also it's been so long, I'm hopeful there's gotta be better resources out there now than what I'm aware of
learnt so much from ur video and blog on fashion folio and dip and -- with the diploma in csm, you can get into almost every master program like the ifm master program( they prefer students have csm dip and it provides lots of work oppurtunities in europe )
Is this book available in English?
yes: Bunka textbooks are available in English, last I checked Amazon.jp was the best place to source them.
I'm also a descendant from Brazil thinking bout studying in Bunka, now i'm really rethinking my steps, thank you for the information! Love your vids!
thank you! happy you found it helpful
Hi! I wanted to ask Like do you need to send a whole portfolio or just do exam n interview?
You don't have to send a portfolio at all, unless they've changed the application process. Please check the BFC website for update information
Can I purchase your 1 granary issue 6 magazine from you if you don’t use it anymore?

@@OliviaSuguri Hiya, just seen your reply. I have just sent you an email.
Hi Olivia, at the time you were at the course. Did you have friends or knew someone at the fashion technology grad dip at LCF?
Hey Maria, unfortunately no. it's a shame but we don't get to collaborate with LCF or other UAL schools
Thank you! I like Bunka Fashion School, however I appreciate your opinion. Other schools seem to favour males and in Bunka females seem to be the centre of their focus. They like girls. Maybe it’s dull, but there is value in that atmosphere and solid foundation in garment construction. I’m grateful that you shared your experience and textbooks. I’m going to purchase the Bunka textbooks. ❤❤❤
Thank you!
im a film student in Brazil who had interest in fashion design and study in Bunka, but watching this video, NOPE lol
awesome! just saved you time and money
Lmao
STAY AWAY FROM ASBX I've been in contact with them for almost a year now and have never seen anything like it I've been telling the owner afonso since the beginning that I wanted to talk to someone else because he didn't seem friendly and very unprofessional. I met him in an office in portugal. he told me i could only talk to him so i decided to work with asbx anyway it was also better until I had paid half. I sent asbx a very well explained techpach for a tshirt. I got no messages to know how we are progressing. I always had to send messages to which I didn't get an answer or he replied that the t-shirt would be sent soon and so on although the t-shirt wasn't even ready... When I got my t-shirt after a long time, it was anything but what was described in the techpack. The t-shirt was never personally edited. Print was wrong size and wrong color! If you as a clothing company can't even get the size and color of the print right, that's saying a lot! So I send photos and they could see for themselves that it's not right. Months go by and every day I lose a lot of time because I am constantly writing and waiting for an answer. The owner Afonso when he replies tells me that the Tshirts are ready and will be shipped. One day it was over and i said i wanted to stop working with them Then he told me it couldn't be done. My shirts were never made so he said we could stop and I'd have to pay for the work. I wanted all my money but they charged me over 1000 euros for a t-shirt that wasn't even personalized and everything was wrong. it took a month and a half for them to send me my money. I've never seen anything like this! twice they had problems with the transfer. I had to ask again they wouldn't tell me themselves. Afonso once answered me before the collaboration when I wanted information for the collaboration. Since I paid he has never answered me, just hung up and then texted that he was at dinner, in the car, or at a meeting. When he didn't feel like it anymore, he didn't want to take responsibility anymore and said I should communicate with Joao via email. joao who needs days to write a very simple email in which he writes: please send me your bank information and can't even spell my name correctly for the transfer. Afonso who likes to be the owner of a clothing company but then has no balls to bear responsibility and blames others. Threatened me and blackmailed me because I already left a comment under this video at the time. I don't think that's the right way to treat customers and hopefully with this message they won't treat you or anyone else the way they treated me! D'ALESSANDRO
@fabiodalessandro5778, this sounds like an absolute nightmare... I hope you have everything documented over email and WhatsApp, and imho it's very unlikely they'll be able to take any action because of a bad review.
Bro I had the exact same experience lost a lot of money due to asbx
