Thank you so much !!😊
You are so welcome..Landscaping is fun... if you have any questions just ask.😊
I loved this! This is my first year getting into landscaping and this gave great inspiration. God bless.
Beautiful!
Thank you bettygreen😊
Thanks for the tour beautiful pot arrangements and landscape combinations.
We're glad you liked it. We'll be posting more videos soon.
I love hostas!! Is the Big Daddy a specific variety? Or, just the common variety that is thriving well? I do have plenty of shade areas. So, i have the ideal conditions for hostas.
Yes and yes
Very pretty! The Azaleas are GORG! Have you guys tried the Proven Winners Supertunias yet?
Yes I have. The supertunias performed very well. They grow alot faster than the other flowers. They are a stand alone flower and they completely take over the pots
Love your style !!Thank you!!
Thank you so much!! And you are very welcome. I'm still trying to get the hang of making videos. We're glad you enjoyed
what should you do once the flowers are done blooming? Do you cut off the stem and leaves? or you leave it alone?
Just leave it alone and enjoy the foliage
Definitely probably leave them. I had cut mine and now it has not bloomed again. I had about 7-8 flowers. It has been. A month and no more blooms. It is growing fine just no more flowers. Mine are in a flower bed. I'm definitely in the right region here in Japan but I worry cutting the flowers like I did petunias and Geraniums (which doubled and tripled flowering) possibly had the opposite affect
Can you show how this comes back up in Spring?
Yes. We'll be doing updates so you can see the different stages
Love your videos and really appreciate all the knowledge you put out there for us
Thanks. We're glad you enjoy the videos. After the rain we'll be starting another one. Thanks again & we'll be tuning in to Pop on the dock.
Nice and beautiful flowers
Thank you so much !!
Thank you. Our nursery has a big selection
I started with a blank slate last year. You really have some nice plants and good tips! Had tremendous luck with seedlings in milk jugs during the winter. Planted a bunch last week, got hail this week but majority seem to have survived. Texhoma region.
I've seen videos about milk jug seedlings. I've never tried it.
What size pots are those ? How many plants did you plant in each pot ?
These are the 6 inch pots from the nursery. There's one flower in each pot
I love watching you fill in those spots with beautiful flowers. What zone do you live in? Keep up the great work❤🎉🎉
We're in zone 7. Thanks for the encouragement. Stay tuned. Much more on the way.
We are ready to plant more of these this year
We are ready to install plants and flowers that can handle the heat
Thanks! I think I will try these as a ground cover. Liked that color!
Excellent ground cover for many zones
This color does good in zone 7
I have a Celosia pot plant which is now out of bloom. The flowers looked like brown droopy wheatsheaves. I cut the stems right down. Now I'm worried
They'll come back in zones 10 through 12
They'll come back in zones 10 through 12
I don't know what that means sorry. Did I do wrong cutting the stems right down?
Google USDA hardiness for your state, ask if the Celosia is a perennial plant in your area.
@@janiceclark3233 I'm not in the states. I was asking about the trimming. No worries ..
Thanks how about if sun all summer long on them how to protect them for the summer in direct sun tree was cut down
They also do very well in full sun. Most of the elephant ears we plant. Perform very well in full sun 🌞
Great job 👍🏽
Thank you
thanks for the information i got to get to wk
Very nice !!😊
I'm really surprised how alot of plants and flowers are still looking good
Thank you so much !! I like to brighten up the flower garden...
You picked some fantastic 😍 colors
So, we have the upright ones all arpund our pool in middle ga and they have been kn the ground formover 10 years and we cut them down to the ground every year after forst frost damage is apparent and they come back fine every year.. are we just lucky lol or should we stop cuttin them to the ground... im worried now. We cover the cuts with sand so they dont stink lol because we cant stand the smell 😂
Stick with what works. It's colder here in Richmond than in Ga. We have to cut ours 6 to 8 inches from the ground so they don't rot all the way to the bulbs.
Love the colors
Thanks
I live in zone 7 also and last Winter all my Alocasia EE died due to an unusual 9 degrees for 2 days. I'm digging mine up this year.
Every video I've seen on winter storage always says store in dark cool dry place
Thank you so much !!
Creeping jenny is so pretty
Thank you. We also use potato Vines in our big pots. We have to prune them because they take over
We found ours at our local nursery... The Great Big Green House...
I'm looking forward to getting more Thailand Giants next year
I know ... I was sad to pull them up.. Hopefully the plants that we planted in its place will be pretty...
I've been observing this shady yard. There are areas that get a lot of sun.
Your front yard is gorgeous ! It hurts my heart to have to get rid of annuals. ESP when they still look good.
We are the same. Always trying to decide weather to keep them another week or not
How can one harvest them for winter and save u til the spring?
It depends on what zone you're in.
Great idea, im goin to try this in case it works in zone 6
Give it a try. Let me know if it works
Great video! Thanks
Glad you liked it!
Thank you…appreciate your advice…
You are so welcome
I have a question. I wrote before. I didn’t plant mine. They grew up from a pot I had left out all winter then threw in a compost box. They are very tall and clumped together. I need to separate them cuz they are so bunched together. Would you do that now, in the fall or wait till spring? Thanks for any suggestions. Zone 7b. Black elephant ears that point down.
Wait until the spring because they area about to go dormant
@@ShonAndJaniceGardening . I cut them down. We got a couple nights of 29 degrees. It’s 80 now with 60 at night. Crazy. I don’t have leaves yet. My oak tree hangs on to them till the bitter end. I potted up a couple babies and they’re doing fine in the house. I also uprooted a few and wrapped in newspaper. They’re spending the winter on the garage. It’s funny. I did absolutely nothing to get these and now I’m trying every trick in the book to keep them!
Use buckets or flower pots to cover them until you get leaves. They should be okay outside with temperature over freezing.
@@ShonAndJaniceGardening . OMG! I forgot about this even though I do it with cold snaps and spring veggies! Ha! Thanks
Great! I never grew elephant ears before a couple years ago. Then a friend gave me a small plant in a pot. It grew nicely and had to be repotted. That winter I brought it in the house and had a terrible time with major die back but it revived the next summer. That winter I didn’t want the hassle so I left it out….in a 10 inch pot. It died, of course. So I threw the dirt with the dead plant in it off to an unfinished area of my yard along with twigs and leaves last spring…..kinda a compost area. That plant grew 4+ 😂feet high and is still sending out leaves! It’s gigantic and I love it but I didn’t know what to do this winter. I thought I’d just cover it with leaves since it came back from a small pot! Now you have confirmed this is the way to go. I really didn’t want to dig it up and find a place to store it. I have lots of leaves. Thanks.! I’m in zone 7b. Oh! Another part of that same plant grew in a tote with zucchini! There must have been a bit of root on some of the soil I threw in there from the pot.
Elephant 🐘 Ears will surprise you. We have another variety called escalenta that Don't emerge until the mid summer. Every year we think they are not going to come up but they do. We gave away a lot & they are still coming up plentiful. Leaves are the way to go. We've done it 4 years in a row.
@@ShonAndJaniceGardening . I cut back the plant in the tote. It was in a small pot but grew out of it. Massive roots! I planted it in the ground and left a few leaves on. I’m pretty confident it will return next summer. I had to cut the pot off but it wasn’t possible without losing some thinner roots. Boy it was bunched up in there. 🥴The other big one grew through the sticks so I left them around the plant and took the box off. There were a ton of babies grown pale in the flaps. Boy! These surely want to live!
I’m in Delaware and haven’t been able to find the Thailand variety for a few years now. Would you please tell me where you found yours so I can hopefully find them next year. I just dug up my bulbs for the regular ones yesterday but I’d love to get the Thailand variety
We went to our local nursery ( Great big greenhouse)
Hello there. If I don't have leaves for cover, can mulch be used?
Yes you can use mulch. Sorry about the delayed response
@@ShonAndJaniceGardening No worries. I appreciate the response.
Love these I have them all over my garden. My cousin gave me a near dead one about 3 yrs ago and said if you can bring it back, you can have it. It's the gift that keeps on giving. Beautiful addition to the garden. Also , great pollinators.
We planted some in our friend pot they did awesome.. But after the season was over we tossed them.. Next season we are going to plant them in the flower beds... They are beautiful additions to the bed..
We love them. They are a nice sturdy plants
We love our creeping Jenny!
Creeping jenny is an excellent trailer for pots. Our friends have it as ground cover
Beautiful yard. I love your flower choices.
Thanks a lot.. We like a lot of color in our flower beds... That can handle full sun and heat..
We do pothos water propagation in the winter. Watching the roots is just as interesting as the plant
Just recently found out you can pinch a stem off coleus and put in water and in a week have roots. I just did this for first time.
We've propagated pothos in the winter. I might try coleus
Good evening what type of mulch is that and where can I order it from? Please and thank you
It's called red mulch & you can find it a Lowe's or home Depot. We also have a place in our area called yard works that delivers
Lowes & Home Depot deliver too.
Really pretty combination!
Thanks.
