    Whaaale, actually the Foreshots are the only thing that are thrown away. Foreshots are the first 250ml out of the worm for every 5gal of mash. That's methanol. After that is heads. This is where you begin seperating by either pint, quart, or half gallon jars, depending on what size pot you're running. Then the hearts and; by your taste, heads both go into the proofing of the final product. We number the jars. First jar is #1, etc. Then with proofing, I generally like to begin with jar 4 and go up on into and thru the hearts. Generally jar 10 you really start keeping an eye on the taste and smell. Then kill the heat, relieve the pressure on the pot, and your done. If you use your higher proof backins in the thumper you'll get a higher end abv. The front end of the backins, or tails go into the thump keg, or doubling keg on the next run. But what do I know about moonshinin', or anything else. I'm just a country boy.

    For shot it's the first of the start, you want the head and hearts and some of the tails.

    I like the still , not sure about the seal flex seal , maybe try Teflon tape or food grade silicone , just saying , nice video 👍 this is exactly what my still is going to be , someday

    Pure sugar in a sugar wash produces no methanol . There are other nastys in the heads of a pure sugar wash though and should be tossed out . Now a corn mash , or a dextrose wash ( corn sugar) will produce methanol. Theres methanol in wine , theres methanol in beer . Guys running these little 20 gallon pots are throwing out a whole 750 ML worth of totally drinkable shine . 15 gallon sugar wash starts spitting shine and i measure about 200 ML and the rest goes into my orange cream sickles,apple pies, and blueberry donut hole sippin creams .

    Well that's not very good information big companies including small Distillers will blend some of their Heads & Tails with their hearts depending on what their choice the amount of methanol you producers you could count to 10 when it starts running and that's your methanol small distiller

    You have to throw out heads you can put the tails back in though through the thump keg if you running a old style still and get more likker.

    For anybody wondering, you are not removing the methanol when you remove the heads. You’re removing other bad things yes, but removing methanol from your finished product is near impossible without a lot of effort and a lot of lab equipment. You will never distill enough methanol to hurt you. Removing methanol by tossing out the heads is a myth.

    My recipe that i made. You get around 70% 140 proof shine. Then you get a couple honeycrisp aoples cut the skin off and cut them into thin slices and cut it up then boil it in a pan, and add a few hanfulls of brown sugar and some cinnamon on top the apples then wait for the water to evaporate while stirring and youll have super soft apples and some brown sugar Cinnamon juice then add the apples and juice to the shine and let sit for a few days. Shake a couple of times a day squeeze as much shine as you can, out of the apples, then filter it off with cheesecloth. I dont use a coffee filter, but you can. It makes apple pie moonshine its my recipe, if you do it right it will be damn near the best thing u ever tasted
