This is my guide on how to install Optifine on Linux :D This should work on any Linux OS and desktop as long as you have java installed! If you do not have the option in properties to make the jar file executable, use this command chmod x /path/to/optifine/jar Install Java on Manjaro by installing the "jdk-openjdk" and "jre-openjdk" packages from pacman. sudo pacman -S jre-openjdk jdk-openjdk

you can afford to turn up the texture quality to ultra, it makes zero difference in performance

I play this game on Steam deck to and you Can install mod for 60fps
Sadly the 60fps patch breaks some of the Route Changers, the car glitches out when you drive them, the patch is also not compatible with the mod I installed to unlock the Quarry track ;_;

Ay, wonderul :D I should make a fully desktop independant video on this, as the steps to make the file executable does not exist in some file managers, so its best to use terminal command for that also :D it's just "sudo chmod +x Optifine.jar" so not too bad
I have it installed all right but when i try to launch it from the launcher i get this GLFW error 65543: GLX: Failed to create context: GLXBadFBConfig. Please make sure you have up-to-date drivers (see aka.ms/mcdriver for instructions).

The pacman one? You need to use apt on Ubuntu. sudo apt install instead of sudo pacman -S

for Pop OS first type; sudo apt install default-jre this will install java and then type sudo java -jar (name of the jre argument, mine is Optifine _1.16.3_HD_U_G5.jar) this will work for ya :)
Ill probably find this out without getting answer from someone else, but quick question, the quality on the video was low so what was the code put into the terminal to use optifine instead of installing Java
You need Java installed to use optifine The command to make optifine executable is "chmod +x /path/to/optifine.jar" The command to install optifine was "java -jar /path/to/optifine.jar"

btw i use arch
this way you can jump up to 7 blocks
im stuck on the part where you install it from the tab. whenever i click install it says download and start minecraft 1.16.1 once in the official launcher. and when i do it says the same thing.
Make sure you selected the right .minecraft install. it won't always be installed in home/user/minecraft
oh yeah, btw if you used the snapcraft minecraft-launcher it should be in /home/USER/snap/mc-installer/499/.minecraft/ after you launched it once.

That probably means you are using Wayland. What desktop and OS are you in?

Whenever I try to access a Minecraft server, it gives me a bug. Internet is connected and opened Minecraft in Online mode. Distro: Mint 19.3

@@mianeutel8026 oh, so you have java. All you need to do is download Optifine from the website and run the command to install it. If it downloads to your Downloads folder then open a terminal in that folder and run "chmod +x optifine/file/name.jar" then run "java -jar optifile/file/name.jar"
After you typed it into the terminal what did you press to make that tab open up where you could select install?
Enter, to run the command! Make sure the terminal is in the same folder that optifine is. You'll have to cd to it otherwise
this might be a dumb question but what do you do after it’s installed? does it just work?
Yup Once you do the steps on the video, open the Minecraft launcher and it should have automatically switched to the Optifine profile and you just press launch

Unable to access apparently. :( I even ticked it as executable. Been having the problem for a while. I followed every step too.
Lesnite Neko Yeah I think that was the problem. But 13 was the one that opened optifine from browser. I hope so too.
extracted the tar folder but not getting anywhere, have tried downloading the pc version using wine but that throws up errors also. am I missing something? do I need to download something in order to make the linux version work?
Did you run the commands from terminal to start the launcher?
@@MyurrDurr just realised I needed to upgrade from 16 to 18.04 - just done that now, unfortunately not getting that option, when I right click theres no option to open in terminal...ahhhhh! Lol
@@gem7783 You mean the operating system? You will need to freshly install from the new ISO image. There is no upgrade path for 2 release versions.
