Hi Maria. I may not have my terminology correct but here goes: Today I am on the hunt to learn how to 'attach' an image (like an object of sorts) to a fixed point in a video and have that image (or object) track so as to stay correctly oriented as the video plays. It may be called 'motion tracking' . I've done this in Premiere Pro in the past but now I'm going to have to figure it out in Divinci. Wish me luck.
Hi! Many thanks for your comment. I believe you need to use the tracker for this so you can add the image to the clip then use the tracker to ensure that it stays in position for the duration that you would like. I mentioned the tracker at the start of this video around 28 seconds, is this what you mean?: ua-cam.com/video/rhMZ8B_rkVE/v-deo.html

@@mariatlloyd if they would quit changing where stuff is... I swear I had to go into fusion to even find the options before (the last time I needed to do this) 🤔 but your way is so much easier!!!
@@senormusica81Gaming There will be other ways to add different features, which is the great thing about DaVinci; there is no one way to do anything. You've just got to spend time finding your preferred techniques, which I admit is tedious sometimes!

Thank Maria, I can't find a simple short cut that takes you directly to a specific Effect ... using Mac... something like: Shift commd Etc... any tips Please ...THANKS
I am absolutely amazed at how fast Davinci completes stabilisation compared to Premiere Pro. I tried stabilisation on various clips the other day and experimented with the three stabilise ‘variants ’ and found ‘transition’ was the best - but usually find the default works best. Just pulling your leg here - love the way you shoot ‘hands free’ rather than ‘hand held’ 👍😀
@paultsworld I know! I really thought it would be more technical. It's obviously not perfect, but it really makes a difference. Haha, oh yes, good catch on the hands free! 🤣 the laptop was, but the others were hand-held, of course! (Although one of them not me , so that was hands-free for me, I guess 🤣) I'll be more careful with the wording going forwards- thanks!
@@mariatlloydI was just having a bit of fun - I make mistakes on my videos all the time. I haven’t tried the ‘tracking’ stabilisation yet but for tricky clips it could be useful.
@@paultsworld oh yes, I haven't needed to use that yet, but I agree it's a very handy feature. I'm looking to get more to grips with the fusion page next. What about you?
@@mariatlloyd Fusion? Which button is that? 😀. No, I haven’t done anything on that yet - but am happy to learn.
@paultsworld It's the 'page' at the bottom where you do the special effects and motion graphics. Hopefully, I'll have some videos on that in the near future 😊
Really helpful Maria. No more shaky selfie sticks videos for me. Thank you for the video ad take care until next time. :)

This is absolutely shocking, how small is my window. I can't see anything, despite following your settings. It has half of size of yours. I don't believe that people who created this software did something like that. I wasted 2 hours
@niemamnicku1359 It's hard to know without seeing your screen what the problem is. If you're using a Windows desktop you could look in 'Workspace', then 'full screen window' or 'reset ui layout '. That's the only thing that I can think of,though.

Anyone know how to resize Davinci resolve, itself, to fit my screen properly? As in, I can't see all the workspace panels fully. Every time I try to look it up I find videos like this
@noaha8915 it's hard to know without seeing an image what you mean. You should be able to drag the windows to the size you need. If you need to reset your workspace, go to workspaces and reset ui layout.
Thank you Maria - I hadn't noticed the drop down segment before. When I watched your video I then had the idea that maybe you can literally drag the keyframe on the drop down part under the clip without going to the inspector...and you can!

Very helpful. Being able to modify the start time really helped. I don't really need the timecode, just a counter in seconds and frames from an in point and an out point. Thanks!

Nice easy - good 'ol DaVinci! Are there any options for the feathering of the selection Maria?
Hi @paultsworld :) Do you mean softness? I can't seem to attach an image to my response, but on the colour page when you select your window type, the menu on the right of it will have different options: 'transform' and 'softness'. Under 'softness' you can select it for outside and inside the selection. I think that will work for you. Let me know if you need a screenshot.
