Do you have to reprogram the car when you disconnect the wire harness
No, not at all.
Did you need to disconnect the battery before unplugging the module computer? It’s Great video, thank you for sharing it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
No need to. Al thought it is recommended with any module you disconnect however I didn’t and had no issues
@@hicemm I was able to replace the blend door successfully, thanks to your video. thank you so much 🙏🏼
Hey did you ever finish fixing it? I have the same code. My pump is not starting when I connect 12 volt to it? Ordered a new pump. Did the new pump solve the issue?
Yeah it was the pump for me I tested the old pump as shown in the video and it didn’t come on I ordered a new one tested it quickly before installing and pump came on so I installed it and boat started right up
What did you use to cut
In end of video I show the dremel I used
Is anyone near wilmington nc that can do this for me?
Did you trim the inside track about 1/8" you think or more?
Probably just about so… I started on the side away from the heater core and pushed on the panel once I saw it loose I stopped…with the small Dremel cutter u feel when it goes through the plastic
it's exactly what i did i had a hard time removing the wires and the colored fuse box
Need to calibrate acctuator with scan tool so it stops putting presure on door need a acan tool to calibrate acctuator factory dont calibrate um
Acabo de arreglar el mío, muchas gracias me ahorré 2,000.00 me Sirvió mucho tu video.
I tried putting the computer module, bracket and vent register all in at once and it worked 😂
Chevy should really do a recal on this issue. They sure sticking it to a 5th gen camaro owners. sucks.
Man, you saved my life! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
No problem at all just sharing my experiences to help others
@@hicemm I just got mine back together today. Been fighting with it for a couple weeks.
Mine just went out…plan on changing it sometime soon …
@@tonylee4846 Good luck. My best advice is to not worry as much about how fine your cut is. I wider gap will actually make it much easier to get out and more importantly back in. The panel has to come down a bit before it can come out. Best wishes.
Do I need to disconnect the battery?
Not necessarily. I’m sure it’s recommended but I didn’t and had no issues
Shouldve used a hot knife for less destroying of the edges. You would use a Solder flat tip to help mold/melt the plastic back together.. Also you can use flat plastic tabs to help hold it together on the outside
😂😂😂
Just wanted to say thank you for this video! I used this as my guide & it was very helpful. Got the blend door replacement done in about 3 hours yesterday including removing the drivers seat so I could lay down, and vacuum all the areas of the carpet I couldn't get to when the seat is installed. I used a hot knife instead of the dremel, which Im sure took longer but I felt this was a lot safer for that front vertical cut near the heater core. If I used the dremel I'm sure I would have touched the heater core a time or two but probably not punctured it if I was careful.
Dude my hot knife was ass. Once the metal expanded it would just fall out of the screw hole (extremely dangerous if it falls btw). Took 3 hours just to cut it out
In the words of Adam Sandler "whoever designed my car can lick my sweaty nut sack" this took me 3 hours to do and a year of suffering without heat or ac in brutal Missouri weather.
my car no suich front cool to hot anybody can tell me if this is the problem??
Only way to find out is to take the blend door motor out and look to see if the blend door is still intact. You can see with a light in the hole where the motor goes try and turn the blend door with a screw driver and see if it changes from hot to cold
Awesome thanks for the tip .
It so difficult to get up in that small space when your OLD, LOL. I'm doing my 2013. Can anyone comment on do you need to disconnect the battery before pulling the connectors from the computer module? I can't get my vent register out, so guess I need to take out the computer if that's what it is.
I’m doing a 14 now. I didn’t disconnect the battery. You do take the bcm with the connectors out first. Then that makes taking the vent off easier. It takes some wiggling n tugging but mine came out
Remove the front seat completely out of the car. You can lay down and reach the underside of the dash.
Thanks for the video. 👍🏾 I've just recently come across this issue as an original owner of my car. I see the recommended use of 400°f silicone...what about flex seal tape? 🤔
You can definitely try it won’t hurt worst case u remove the tape and use the silicone... but I feel the silicone once it hardens it’s more solid when dry
I've used the flex seal tape and not happy with it. I would use some clear silicone ,
@@hicemmhey bro, would it affect the AC if I don’t seal the crack
@@juliussmith5866 in a way yes because air would leak through those cracks and would weaken the air pressure coming the vents, in turn taking longer to cool the inside… that’s just my theory
@@juanlanda2441 I was being lazy. 😒...😜🤣😂. I will use the silicone sealant. ✊🏾
U SHOULD GO IN BUSINESS FOR YOURSELF SPECIALIZING IN CAMAROS...EVEN IF U CHARGED $400.00 IT'S WORTH IT......
this was fine for my fiancé so she got the free.99 deal.lol.I do help people out doing side jobs here and there I am certified with Ford and also have a passion with Honda’s but cars are cars and I do jobs on random vehicle makes as per request from friends and family... $400 is a steal I’ve heard of people charging for this job doing it this way for 800-1200
...glad you followed my recommendation on using G&E silicone till 400 F proof. … you don’t want to use anything else that loosens over time with drastic changing temperatures and then haven unwonted / uncontrolled temperatures in the foot area and not the right temperature coming out the dash vents.
good idear to take the connectors out individually … didn’t even think about it.. Easier to take the seat out and lay down thou !
Thats the hardest part of the job … one way is to wiggle both parts at the same time.
So when the ac blows neutral or hot air on both cold and hot option its most likely the door?
Yes check to see if your compressor engaged when in ac mode if so then it’s most likely your blend door also with fan on high when switching from all hot to Max cold you should hear a difference in air flow as the blend door switches... if you don’t chances are it is a blend door issue...
@@hicemm yeah no different of air flow and I see the compressor turning or engaging..
@@hicemm this are not a cause of a fuse are they ? With the sign my car has ?
No i highly doubt it’s a fuse issue another way you can check is to pull the blend door motor out and turn the hot cold switch if you see it move it’s not a fuse also you can look inside where the blend door motor goes too see if the door is in place. I would check the fuses anyway just to be on the safe side.
@@hicemm which fuse would that be? The ones by the driver side? To check the blend door motor i still got to cut in there?
This would be much more helpful if the camera wasn't zoomed in so far. Every video does the same thing with the zooming in. The information is very helpful just hard to follow.
… if you just know what kind of space he working with .. I’m surprised he got that much angle on his videos
Same thing when the AC it’s not working either? Mine don’t work both 🤦🏻♀️
Could be possibly. Best way to be sure put your heat on max and fan on high it should blow hot air ( obvi ) once really hot change the temp from hot to max cold you should hear a change in air flow as it switches from hot to cold if your blend door is working properly. You’ll also feel it change to cold or atleast warm air. Safe to say that your blend door is working fine if that happens... and you probably have an a/c problem... if you don’t hear any difference and your temperature stays the same whether you put it Max hot or cold then yes it’s the blend door. You can get a cheap thermometer and stick it in any vent and monitor the temperature for that one
Message me. Not sure where you are located, but if anywhere near NY let me know.
Your comment doesn't make any sense your grammar is no good
Bro I already made the cut and the part I cut does not come out
Check video again around 7:30 and on I had the same problem and I pointed my issue out there hopefully it helps make sure you completely cut through by pressing on the cut piece to see if it flexes as it’s cut or stiff not cut through completely
You have two small screws that need to be removed. You can see the two screws if you are looking at bottom of the black case where you made the cut to part I.
You butchered it! Lol 😂 jk.
I have a 2012 camaro and to be honest I don't know anything about cars. I'm pretty sure my car needs this to be done. Can I get an estimate on how much something like this would cost? I just don't want to be hustled
It all depends on where you take it to get repaired... if you go to a dealer you are looking at an easy 2-3k given that it’s done the proper way by removing the dashboard. If you take it to a regular shop where they also take the dashboard out you’ll still be at about 1500 and up... if one was to repair it the way I did in this video at a shop you’d be looking at about 800-1200 and if u got a buddy that’s handy I’m sure they’d charge in the area of give or take 500... all in all it’s just a bit of a complicated job which ever way you go one is quicker then the other but requires skill as if the wrong move is made cutting into something you shouldn’t ( heater core ) then ur stuck having to take the dash out regardless and now spending more on parts... although I’m about to sound contradicting it’s really not that bad if you take your time, use the right tools and follow the exact cut line as I did so don’t let me discourage you from possibly trying the job yourself I’m just being as clear as I can be. Also don’t quote me on those prices exact I could still be a couple hundred off higher or lower
I'm in NY and charge about 500$
I'm in California and I literally just got this done about 2 weeks ago and paid $1,300. I should have gotten it done elsewhere because as soon as I got the car my service airbag light came out
Hello, please i need some help with some guidance as per how to remove the newly cut door piece. i have done the cut but the door still not coming out but still very tight? i used hot knife for the cut.
I had a little trouble also pay attention to the video at 7 minutes and on... I explain what was giving me problems getting the piece out... poke the cut piece along the edges and see if any sections don’t move...if any don’t move freely then it’s probably not cut through completely it should be be all flimsy...
Thank you cut same line you did helped alot
Abron Sandifer no problem. Im glad it was of help...
I live in CALIFORNIA, took my car to the dealer to find out I was having the exact same issue. They were charging me $3,300 to fix it so I decided to do it my self. I was able to replace the part over LABOR day weekend and my ac is back 100%.
Yeah dealer prices on this repair are sky high, given that they do the repair the way it’s supposed to be done and that’s by removing the dashboard. This shortcut is also labor intensive and a bit risky but if one takes their time and follows all steps out there to help repair it in this manner it’s worth the money one will save... even at a private shop quotes are around 1500... I hope this video helped in some way shape or form... give it a like and share with any camaro buddies u may have lol
@@hicemm I will do, thanks
Did you have to reprogram the hvac actuator and body module after work done?
@@enriquevazquez4999 none, everything is working fine
