S### happens in motorosport... big names competitors probably cried to mother FIA... "these italians are ruining competion their new car is too light and too fast, faster than a protoype, let's BOP it immediately!! " The GT war would have been expensive. Money was needed to develop a BOPPED version. Those years Ferrari decided to go all in on Formula 1. Still a bopped F50GT could have been a title winning car. But the rapid rule changes every couple of years did'nt help either, we'll never know. Probably that's the very reason why XX programme was born. Ferrari feeling was "to hell with FIA nonsense BS let's create our OWN series with unrestricted V10 V12 beasts!!"
