    If anyone knows of this actual concert, there's a spot where my mother grabbed Elvis' leg, and he grabbed my mother's arm and held it until a security guard came over. Her and my aunt went to this actual concert, and we are trying to find the footage where my mother grabbed his leg. Luckily, my 80-year-old mother is fairly healthy and lives every day to the fullest. I actually just took her to Graceland for her 80th birthday this year and she fell in love with Elvis all over again. It would be awesome if we could find footage of her grabbing his leg at the Nassau Veterans Coliseum in 75.

      That's a great story, thanks for sharing. It's wonderful that your mother was able to see Graceland this year, and that she is still enjoying life. I'll pin this comment to the top, in case someone might read it and be aware of some vision, the only chance would be some amateur film shot from within the audience...

      Gary was back in Memphis this summer (2024) - On his own website, he's embedded a fascinating short video of the walk from the front gates of Graceland to the Meditation Garden which gives a great perspective of the family memorials, as well as the mansion and the grounds more generally. I've come to really appreciate how the art of speech for actors and broadcasters was an important thing, particularly in some of the British period dramas of the 70s and early 80s. One that particularly struck me recently, although not a period piece, was a 1970s political drama called Bill Brand, Peter Howell and Alan Badel in particular. A joy just to listen to them talk. It appears to be a lost art, or perhaps it not longer really matters.

    I WAS AT THAT CONCERT TOO, MY HUSBAND SURPRISED ME. MY BROTHER WORKED AT THE ARENA AND HE GAVE MY HUSBAND TICKETS FOR HIM AND ME. I THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO A TOWN MEETING, UNTIL THE CURTAIN OPENED, AND THAT MUSIC PLAYED... TALKING ABOUT "SURPRISED"! IT BLEW ME AWAY.. I SAW ELVIS WHEN I WAS VERY LITTLE, ABOUT 3/4, WITH MY MOM AT THE ALABAMA:; ❤, MISSISSIPPI STATE FAIR , THAT'S WHEN I FELL IN LOVE WITH ELVIS, BUT I NEVER THOUGHT HE WOULD COME TO CALIFORNIA AFTER WE CAME IN 1954, WE MOVED TO SAN PEDRO FROM AL, TO LB IN 1970, JUST IN TIME TO SEE ELVIS IN 1972, AT THE LONG BEACH AREA L😮L!😅 I DON'T REMEMBER! HER LAST NAME BUT HER FIRST NAME WAS JOAN, WHO I MET AT A SCHOOL MEETING IN LONG BEACH ASKED ME IF I WOULD LIKE TO JOIN AN ELVIS FAN CLUB? I JUMPED UP SAYING, YES, YES,, PLEASE LET ME JOIN. I FOUND OUT THAT HER HUSBAND WORKED IN HOLLYWOOD, AND THEY KNEW A LOT OF FAMOUS PEOPLE, I THOUGHT, GEE HOW COOL IS THAT? OUR CLUB WAS,, "THE JAILHOUSE ROCKERS". AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH WE WOULD GO TO DIFFERENT HOMES, AND TALK ABOUT EP. WE WATCHED SOME OF THE MOVIES HE MADE, AND PLAYED GAMES FOR PRIZES CONTAINING EP ITEMS. I WON SO MUCH ELVIS PARAPHERNALIA, THAT WAS A LOT BETTER THAN ALL THE $$$$ EVER MADE WORKING LOL. I STILL HAVE ALL OF MY WINNINGS, AND THE EP STUFF I'VE COLLECTED IN MY 72 YRS ON EARTH. EVERYONE I KNOW TELLS ME THAT I SHOULD OPEN MY OWN EP GALLERY, WITH ALL MY EP THINGS ON THE SHELF, I JUST SAY NO, MY EP ITEMS BELONGS TO ONLY ME. ❤😂❤. ONE OF THE SWEETEST PEOPLE I'VE EVER KNOWN WAS MS. ALVINA ROY. SHE LIVED WITH ELVIS FOR A VERY LONG TIME WHEN HE WAS MAKING MOVIES, AND SHE LOVED ⁹ HIM LIKE A SON.. SHE TOLD US THAT "ELVIS WAS JUST A PERSON , BUT A GOOD PERSON ". SHE HAD THE GREATEST MEMORIES OF ELVIS, AND SHE ONLY HAD NICE THINGS TO SAY ABOUT HIM, SHE EVEN HAD MEETINGS AT HER HOME THAT ELVIS BOUGHT FOR HER JUST OUT SIDE OF L.A. SHE WAS SO SWEET,, AND SHE WOULD SAY THAT ELVIS WAS LIKE A SON TO HER, , AND YOU COULD TELL THAT SHE MISSED HIM. I TRULY WISH THAT I KNEW HOW TO DO WHAT THESE GUYS ARE DOING. TO KEEP HIS MEMORY ALIVE FOR THE REST OF THE WORLD TO LEARN ABOUT ELVIS PRESLEY. HOPEFULLY HE WILL STILL BE REMEMBERED FOREVER! THANK YOU ALL WHO ARE DOING JUST THAT, KEEPING THE MEMORY OF ELVIS. MAY OUR HEAVENLY FATHER BLESS YOU ALL AS HE HAS BLESSED ME. PLEASE KEEP THIS GREAT PERSON S STORY GOING ON FOREVER SO OTHÉRS WILL KNOW THE TRUTH OF THE MOST KIND, AND GENEROUS PERSON WHO EVER WALKED ON PLANET EARTH¡! PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT SOMÉONE WHO WAS SO KIND AND GENEROUS TO PEOPLE HE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW., WHY NOT TELL THE TRUTH INSTEAD OF LETTING LIES BEING SPREAD OF SUCH A KIND GENEROUS PERSON! 😢😮 TURN THAT FROWN UPSIDE DOWN. ❤😂 JUST THE NAME, 'ELVIS' MAKES ME HAPPY 😂😊❤🎉😮😂

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts and explaining your personal connection to the show and about Alvina Roy. I think the great thing about these unofficial recordings is we get to hear Elvis as the audiences did, and without these, so much of the history, and many of his best performances, would be lost. You make great points, he really does bring so much uncomplicated joy and happiness to millions people around the world, beyond his well documented acts of personal generosity; this tends to be lost sometimes in the mythology and gossip surrounding his personal life. I hope you had a great night at the show, thank you again for commenting.

    Those who judge Elvis have no clue what it was like living his life. No greater arrogance than to point fingers. Elvis never hurt anyone or put people down. Elvis simply expressed his talent as an imperfect human being as we all are. Living in an imperfect world as we all do, His critics probably don’t look at their own flaws first. If they did, they’d shut up. What someone has to say about me is none of my business. I hope Elvis had some sense of that attitude.

      You're so right, it's incredible to think that there is so little official, broadcast quality footage of Elvis available. I guess we need to take into account the times and the technology, but if not for the bootleggers so much history would be lost. Thank you for commenting.

      Basically the big companies where dumb thinking Elvis was not great so they didn't film every concerts, Parker that A hole illegal Pr**K only cared for his pleasure, money eating 50% of everything,never bothered for keeping Elvis fans at ease with leaving many fans with many filmed concerts.

    • @GeorgeFairbrother
      @GeorgeFairbrother Місяць тому

      @@exciting6428 I was thinking about this some more, and I wonder if it might have gone a little too far the other way now - So many people posting concert vision online, sometimes the sound reproduction is not great and affected by audience noise - even ACDC and in particularly Brian Johnson are copping a bit of a pasting in some of the UA-cam comments regarding their current tour, although from those actually at the shows the reaction seems to be generally positive. In Elvis' case in the 70s, the press reviews were often unfairly negative, and hard to reconcile with the bootleg recordings we now have. I wonder if some of the amatueur concert vision now is actually doing more harm than good, generally speaking, to the artists' reputations, in the same way that press reviews kind of became a slanted narrative of Elvis in his final years on the road. Having said that, I love watching them...

      Yes, you're so right. I think one of the issues that Perry and Croft complained about for the first feature film in '71 was related to that very point, in that the director, Norman Cohen, didn't grasp that the comedy was in the reaction as much as the line itself. I agree that the reactions made it, from the Vicar's perpetual frustration to John Le Mesurier's discomfort when Mainwaring raised the matter of his responsibilities to Pikey. But I agree, Arthur Lowe was the master...

      @@A2GProductionProject He certainly carved out a unique place in 20th century entertainment, I'd imagine his job would have been unbelievably tough at times. (Colonel Parker must have been particularly tricky to manage). Anyway, happened to stumble across this cutting by Lillian Roxon in a press archive, you may have already seen it but I thought it was a very nice article - www.newspapers.com/article/daily-news-rocco-laginestra/84153661/.
