    I had childhood trauma too. :( I know I need a good probiotic & I want to buy the DAO tablets. Yes, they are expensive but I am desperate to feel better. I, too, have bought so many supplements which altogether have cost a fortune. I am trying to choose the ones now that are absolutely necessary for my ago (cal/mag) Vit. D, B Complex, Vit. C. I am so very grateful for this video/podcast. 🙏 Prayers are my focus in the morning and at night. They have saved me so many times when I am tired, tearful, anxious.... I have journaled for many years. Music is always soothing. What do I use to swab for mold in my house? Q Tip in petri dish?

    • @JoshDoddsWTB
      @JoshDoddsWTB День тому

      Prayer is a beautiful way to begin/end the day. Thanks for sharing about the music and journaling, I think they can help so many people. The petri dish is from a company called Immunolytics. It can be an easy way to get started with testing. If it comes back negative but you suspect there's mold in your home then I would investigate further as it won't catch everything. Another common test is an ERMI but it's important to sample correctly and sometimes a practitioner is needed to help interpret the results. I used to take way too many supplements. I agree with you on cutting them down to the essential. The podcast episode next week talks about circadian health and ways to boost Vit. D without supplementation. Would love to have you join us for that one!

    I have this for 1 year now, it was hell, burping day 'n' nite so loud you could hear me 100 meters away, throwing up, anxiety, couldn't breathe. Dao test was the one that eventually got me to MCAS because of mould. My symptoms started to explode while I had COVID the 2nd time, but I had some before and worsened after the 1st COVID. No doc helped, only gaslighting for 4 years. After waiting 4mo the allergologist didn't find anything except histamine intolerance. Disbyosis test explained a lot. I always couldn't eat fat, it turns out I might have pancreatic exocrine insufficiency, that is why I am very thin and I think COVID worsened this. Hopefully I will get better, just bought Bromellaine+ papaine.

    The GAPS diet does not recommend bone broth and ferments to start, and not for histamine issues. They recommend meat stock to start which is not high histamine like bone broth. This diet done the correct way has healed these issues that you’re speaking of for many. Highly recommend!

    • @JoshDoddsWTB
      @JoshDoddsWTB 16 днів тому

      See replies to other comments. Many who started GAPS in the early 2000s had this issue with bone broth. It was later made much more clear to use meat stock. I believe it was always clear not to start with ferments. I agree with your recommendation...GAPS was my first foray into nutrition and leaving the average western diet behind. My health improved so much.

    Stay away from people like this! If you have mold that creates histamine like issues, with her you'll be doing fun stuff like trying to feel safe, Rather than the actual stuff you need to do to feel better such as taking binders. There is an element of truth in needing to feel safe, but there are a lot of fools that see it everywhere, and it's just another way of saying it's all in your head.

    • @histaminehaven
      @histaminehaven 20 днів тому

      ooh interesting take. Thanks for mentioning this - am glad to see your message. FYI, when supporting clients who have mold, the recommendation is to connect with a functional medicine doctor to do binders, and support opening up the detox pathways and encouraging methylation. So I'm glad you're asking this question - it means I was not clear on the message! Our work at Histamine Haven is completely steeped in science and supporting the body to address what's at the root. (Thanks for saying what I'm sure a few were thinking.)

    • @JoshDoddsWTB
      @JoshDoddsWTB 20 днів тому

      Would you say the same thing about trying to solve it with a low histamine diet then? I think that was the main point being made. She did say to figure out why your body doesn't feel safe. Mold could absolutely be a reason for this...and then appropriate treatment can be sought. I agree it's important not to overlook anything.

      @@JoshDoddsWTB Part of the problem is the rush for a "diagnosis," or to put a label on it. The *main* reason that diagnosis and labels are put on are so that people can follow a protocol. There's nothing innately wrong with that, so long as the individual is taken into account. I've seen "histamine intolerance" put on a person who really just needed to make some changes to lower their histamine levels to a more balanced level. (Example, zinc is used by the body to store histamine. If someone is not getting enough, this can look like histamine intolerance.) In the case of histamine intolerance, mast cell, so-called "auto immune" (which is a REALLY destructive label), global inflammation, etc., is that there are SO MANY contributing factors. Each person's factors and root causes have to be taken into account and dealt with and/or resolved (not all CAN be resolved) as much as possible. These factors vary (although not *nearly* as much as you might think) from person to person, and from situation to situation. I will say that DIET is ALWAYS a factor in every single person I've consulted with, and when advising a rheumatologist was a factor in every single one of his patients as well. It ALWAYS improves the symptoms in each case that I've seen so far. (I've received reports that when diet changed in a household for a single person that I was consulting with, everybody in the family felt better and had significant improvements in ways that they hadn't expected or looked for.) It is ALWAYS a place that someone can start. It has also NEVER been the ONLY thing that needed to be addressed. But in my experience, it's been a VERY good place to START in order to get relief for the individual as quickly as possible while making other changes. Then we can provide a scaffolding of support while we work through other factors that may take more time to deal with.

      Great summary! Yes the diet is nuanced. The fact it is so powerful in helping can lead to over-focusing on it. To your point, there are many factors that need to be addressed

    Each and every animal/mammal on this planet has only a VERY short, restricted list of species specific foods! No species eats a large variety of (even processed!!), not seasonal foods. Why would we...?!

      @JoshDoddsWTB Місяць тому

      how short of list do you feel is optimal for us? other than seasonality what determines whether a food should be included/excluded?

      @JoshDoddsWTB should be mainly carnivore. Carbs and fiber are non-essential.

    • @JoshDoddsWTB
      @JoshDoddsWTB Місяць тому

      going low carb for too long has wrecked many people's metabolism and thyroid function. a lot of people do experience many benefits from carnivore or other therapeutic diets. it's certainly an improvement from the standard western diet, and it can also give the gut a break and allow the body to do some healing. I've seen more drawbacks than benefits with highly restrictive therapeutic diets when used for extended periods of time like 3+ years, though plenty of people can go longer before their metabolism crashes

    I am a little bit confused when she refers to not feeling safe does she mean perhaps you were in an unsafe childhood you felt unsafe in your marriage and when you left those situations the histamine cleared up? So the nervous system was calm and so the histamine went away?

    • @histaminehaven
      @histaminehaven Місяць тому

      Unsafe in the body can mean so many things - yes, trauma is one of the triggers. Intergenerational trauma can also be a trigger. But there can be many other reasons the body doesn't feel safe - could be metabolic issues not working properly, an invisible infection like lyme that triggers things, heavy metals that have accumulated in tissues, and so much more. Histamine is released by the immune system in the body when it's trying to mount a protective detail. So the work becomes in figuring out why is your body not feeling safe, why does it need to build a protective detail?

      Yes a lot of overlap. All signs of a stressed and overburdened body

    • @histaminehaven
      @histaminehaven Місяць тому

      And mold and lyme are some of the potential triggers for mast cell activation. It's a question of chicken and egg - which one came first? And what is the particular trigger for YOUR body that makes your mast cells not feel safe and then release histamine? If you have two people who have the same symptom, one may be due to lyme triggering mast cells to release excess histamine and drive symptoms. The other may have another completely different metabolic issue that is driving those symptoms. In the case of MCAS and histamine issues, it will never be a one size fits all kind of approach. It's part of what makes it all so complicated. (I have been checked for mold and lyme and don't have them...)

    Instead of Histamine Intolerance, we should call it Histamine Unbalance.

      Yes Luka really understands the histamine issue. Many people find restrictive diets don't work out so well long term. Short term they can provide a lot of relief.
