Cool little vid of Brookeville! Note that Brookeville has two E's. That's why the vid didn't come up in previous searches by me. Caught this randomly. Glad to hear you pronounce "Olney," which rhymes with "olive." The new folks moving to the area are trying to change the pronunciation to rhyme with "only." This is incorrect, of course, but there are so many of them now, they believe they are right! I've lived here 40 years right here on Market St. The road leading from Norbeck to Olney was a simple two-lane country road in the mid 80s. In downtown Olney, there was a plywood vegetable/fruit stand where the McDonald's currently resides. There was a Roy Rogers fast food restaurant where the Fletcher's gas station expanded into. Fletcher's gas station was an Amoco for many decades before they changed to BP. The Silo Falls property and surrounding housing development was a working farm back in the day. The immediate area near Brookeville has changed a lot in the past 40 years. Lots of farmland and woods which used to be east of Georgia Ave with corn and grazing cows is gone, replaced by houses. The state straightened Georgia Ave between Olney and Heritage Dr. due to accidents from the sharp S curves which used to exist - and they wiped out a lot of trees and wooded area in the process while widening the road dramatically. Same with Goldmine Rd. east of Georgia Ave in three different areas. They created a new road east of Queen Elizabeth Dr, cutting through the woods and effectively extending Prince Phillip Dr. so that it connects to Rt 97. There used to be two one-lane bridges on Brookeville Rd on the way to the Oakley Cabin from Brookeville. We have a bypass now, Rt 97 no longer goes through town. Just about all of the wonderful clear large front lawn in front of what was the nunnery and what is now called Marion Assisted Living has been sold for house building. The historic Brookeville Post Office which had existed since at least the 19th century and used to be located on the corner of High St and Market St was moved to a new small shopping center on the corner of Rt 97 and New Hampshire Ave - in Sunshine - because the old structure was not large enough to serve the ever-growing zip code. Looks like your old house was very close - like next door to the property which is now the Brookeville Beer Farm. Bordley Dr didn't exist, it was just a field with a rough gravel driveway which went for a couple hundred yards to a building housing a small business called Gazebo Gardens. One thing that has not changed - Sunshine Service Gas Station in Sunshine still has a griddle in the back serving the best cheeseburgers east of the Mississippi.

I hate to see what people think of the real Eastside.

Aberdeen is pretty big, there's the city and then it branches way out even down towards Perryman. We bought our house in 2021 on the western side of Aberdeen it was 299k and has gained 100k in value already, I've lived here my whole life, it's definitely gotten way outta control with being expensive

Close to my neighborhood. I went to the Shrine of the Little Flower church and my 1st eight years of Nun City schooling there before going to public high school. I live in my parents old 2 story 3br row home not far from there since they passed away. It's still pretty nice having Clifton Park Golf Course and Herring Run Park at each end of the street. When I pass, my sister and her husband can do whatever they want with it. This part of the neighborhood is still pretty nice but I would Never go down to Belair Road anymore where things have just gone down the tubes. It used to have several food and drug stores and small family run clothing and a shoe store and a hardware shop there along with a movie theater long ago.

That is pretty much EVERY Ross store. Screaming kids, merchandise scattered everywhere and the bathrooms are disgusting!

Sorry to hear about your bad experience! How is White Marsh as an area overall? I've heard mixed things about safety

From my experience, 98% of neighbors SUCK BIG TIME. I grew up out my entire childhood and teenage years out in the country where our neighbors were well apart from each other. When I got my first apartment I knew there would be noise, but I was instantly absolutely enraged once I discovered how LOUD people are. I live in a small rental house now, but it's still not private enough for me with neighbors living right next door. Can't afford to move and have been stuck here for a few years. Waiting for the day I have enough money to move out of town, I'm so tired of having stupid neighbors.

Homes also lack back and front yards these days. These communities do not serve children in any way. They need real yard space to thrive…. These communities are for retirees if anything

Have you ever stopped in Pollock Johnny’s and exes assets I was just wondering I’ve been to the one in Baltimore and Eastern Avenue one time and the food was pretty good and I also got one in Ocean city

Hi. I been loving all this rain we been getting lately. Here in Baltimore. I like this area. There are some nice looking houses in that area. I sometimes go to that Friendly’s. They have really good ice cream.
