Bittern in flight past the hide at Willington Wetlands, Derbyshire and one of the several Great Egrets also on site.

I always love to see this elegant little wader, even though it is the most regular of the transatlantic vagrants. Slowed down to 1/2 speed to aid close viewing.

A fine drake Smew appeared at Attenborough Nature Reserve and settled on Main Pool for a few days. Although usually at the far side from the viewing screen, it was still within range of my brilliant Nikon Coolpix P1000 camera at full zoom.

A collection of clips recorded on 4th March, 2024, which turned out to be a good day for seeing Goshawks performing over their breeding territories. The birds were active from 11AM and had dispersed by 1PM. Very high magnification was needed to video these birds as they were very distant.

Short video of a Jack Snipe, located with the aid of a thermal camera, as it froze to rely on the camouflage of it's plumage to escape detection.

The closest video I have managed to obtain of this normally distant bird. It can be very elusive at times, as it wanders over a large area.

A fairly common bird in my youth, but now a difficult bird to find and worthy of this video record!
