Clarke Troller rebuild
This is a Clarke Troller trolling motor built in 1938. It is gas powered and the cylinder and piston were under water for cooling.

In the video I run the engine on 10 psi to 40 psi. When I load it down it gives the same sound as a steam locomotive. Sorry about the audio. I should have turned down the radio.

I am building a twin cylinder steam engine. All the rotating parts are now built. As you can tell from the sound of the drill, there are still some tight spots in the cylinders or cross heads.

is that a set of Reliable castings?
They are castings of my design. They are aluminum castings with brass sleeves. I find that when I have the engine running on steam the aluminum cools the steam off quite fast. Makes for not as efficient engine. The cylinders should be cast iron but I am not set up to to pour cast iron.
Cool video! What would this engine have been used to drive, on your uncles farm? It's fixed location, so some sort of pump?
when I put the info on face book two uncles got back and said it was used on a portable cement mixer. Then I heard from Dale that he has that mixer on his farm. It was change to electric at some time.
