Stafford Half Marathon 2023 | Race Start | Beaconside
Did you run or did somebody you know enter this year's race?
This year was another great success for the Stafford Half Marathon with a great turn out and the welcome arrival of the sun. The British Challenge team was able to film the start of the race this time around and also film from a very windy Beaconside. Thank you for supporting all of the charities you raised money for.

A convoy of bikers rode from Stoke-On-Trent to Stafford in Staffordshire on Sunday to say a big thank you to the NHS. Had a reason to be at Stafford Station yesterday. I've never seen it so deserted. Apart from the staff there were only two other people on the platforms. Hopefully we will be back to normal soon and we can begin our travels once again.

The earliest reference to the dance is from 1532 - but no 'horns' mentioned. So, the evidence points to a Tudor hobby horse dance used to collect monies for the church (as attested elswhere in the area) at Christmas that moved at some point to September - with the reindeer antlers perhaps added in the 17th century (first noted 1686).
Nice to see the melodeon repairer there, thought it was him, I bought a flute off him years ago, sadly the flute got stolen but that is another story.

Thanks for filming the race and having the patience to stay with it until the end. I was one of the runners not far from the back. I was in pain and had to walk the rest of the way after passing you. Watching it back you made me smile. Big Thanks for your commitment 😊
You're welcome. We love doing it so that people can see themselves running (or walking) during a hopefully positive moment in their lives. Congrats on finishing. I myself have too many injuries to compete and so I do the next best thing.
