CADENZA 50 - Newvember Pt. 3
Переглядів 35Рік тому
This week's song: "Villains & Heroes" (original) Have you ever discovered a nugget of good work hidden in the efforts to procrastinate on doing other work? It's a rare and wondrous oddity. It's good like donuts and chocolate milk. Even if the subject matter may be a bit dark, if you hum along, you'll find a meaning that works for you. So listen up, grab a tasty sandwich and let's play freely. "...

This week's song: "I Don't Like You" (original) Life is funny. Not very funny, but you could be all good one day, and then the next day - pow - your whole perspective changes. Does that make you a bad person? Of course not, I mean, unless you are. Any person of sound mind and body can change their mind at any time for any reason. You see? It might be flimsy, but it's enough to make a song out o...

This week's song: It's Not Us, It's Them (Original) You know relationships…can be hard, am I right? They can be a lot of fun too. If you don't protect them, at times greedily and with great intent, you run the risk of being done in by the eternal waves of distraction. Check out the tune and play freely. You have my permission. This week's song: A Man Who Shakes The World (Original) Hm...if I were to create a James Bond-type theme song, it would reflect someone with the gumption and the willpower, and the talent to get stuff done. He's not climbing a ladder or someone else's lackey. He does what he does because it needs to be done and he can do it. Let's explore. Play freely. "A Man Who Shakes The World" - Words and m...

This week's song: Lies Through A Smile (Original) 100 years ago (not really) I gave myself the "assignment" to write a "cheating" song (really). There are tons of cheating songs out there. People seem to love them. Who doesn't love a good somebody done somebody wrong song? I supposed there is someone, but for our purposes today, the special on the menu is a solid cheating song. Give it a listen...

This week's song: The Space Between Us (Original) One universal truth is that humor is subjective. So is love, I suppose. At least love as it's represented in song. Today we take a look at the odd concept of human attraction, and the odd little things that might keep us apart. Depending at least on how good your allergy medication is. Intrigued? It looks like you might be from where I sit. Give...

This week's song: Feeling Better (Original) We all have our stories to tell. At times, they might be fish stories like the one that got away, or maybe something that just lets someone know we should move on from the topic at hand or whatever. We "bend the stick" a bit with each other and we are not beyond telling little fibs to ourselves sometimes...you know, just to get through it. Maybe you d...

This week's song: Same Mistakes As Yesterday (Original) They say those who fail to remember history are destined to repeat it. Of course, you need to learn and acknowledge your history, to begin to have a fair shot at getting past it and not making the same dopey mistakes on repeat. As painful as it might seem, nothing is accomplished by skirting the history of things, although...you can make p...

This week's song: Merry-Go-Round (Original) It's funny. We can experience things simultaneously, but it's not likely that we would experience those things the same way. Our individual traits, ideas, and experiences will almost not allow it. Writing songs is the same. This song means something. What could it mean to you? Probably not the same as me...and I wrote it. This week's song: Same Time, Next Week (Original) Are you OK? These are some weird, tough times we've been going through. Weirder and tougher than other weird and tough times before? Probably not. CADENZA 38 - A Bandage For The Heart

This week's song: My Heart Is On The Mend (Original) What happens after those sad and woeful moments when people break up? After the stuff is divided and returned and the dust settles, there you are. The world was in a certain order before the event and now it can all seem out of sorts. Maybe you need a song to bandage that broken heart and let you know that yeah, it might be slow going, but yo...
CADENZA 37 - Oh, hi! Where Did You Go?
Переглядів 302 роки тому
This week's song: Where Did You Go? (Original) We set the way-back machine to 2007-2008 when I seemed to be entrenched in the phase of writing relationship songs. I think I have a couple of good ones from that time, but who knows? While I consider them to be "done", I will explore different ways to play them and such. Here is a back-to-basics version of a song that explores a growing fissure in...

Very very nice! Great job young lady!
I like it!
Thanks!
I would love to hear the 2 loop-based albums. I can relate to "not for everyone". Likely for me though.

I remember this song. I have a recording of you playing it. :)
This is one that you graciously added a guitar solo to some years ago, and I still hear it in my head when I get to that part of the song!
@@frodoson Yup, I remember. It was my pleasure.
I like it!
I like it.
Thanks!
I wonder if Cher ever did anyone's recording of the song.
I have no idea. If I was a betting person, I'd say...no.😀
Nice!
Thanks!
Interesting concept… I was never young and brave.. the stakes seemed too high for courage or risk taking ( I was tasked with finding THE one not a time for bravery lol) Now I’m an empty nester and treat dating like it’s great if it works, no big deal if it doesn’t. I feel Old and brave..
Ha! I've known some of the "brave" and some of the more "cautious". It's probably best to leave the whimsey to the professionals. 😄 I appreciate your taking the time to listen!
Great song Jeff! You have a really powerful and expressive voice! I know how much courage it takes to write and upload original songs cause I do the same. UA-cam always recommends me other random originals like this which I think are fun to check out. Keep up the awesome work! (:
Thanks so much for checking out my tune and your comments! Much appreciated.
If she didn't like the strum of your guitar you could PICK IT
It could happen!
@@frodoson Reading my comment, I should be clear. I was a little ways into a couple fingers of scotch when I decided "pick it" would rhyme with "cricket". which it does. I also know that wasn't what you were looking for, nor was any of this the point of your song or subject matter there of, etc etc ad nauseam.
@@medicinegone 😆😆
Nice one.
Great song, and the comments before it. Very insightful.
Thanks! Glad you like it!
@@frodoson keep the videos going bro, you're very good.
You recorded one of my songs ("here's to crazy") and I was indeed flattered.
It's a favorite!
What a great idea for a series of videos. I just binge-watched all of them. Beautiful. Your voice really shines on this one.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your taking the time to listen and give feedback!
Boy, I love you strumming your guitar on this one. Another song that is a lot of fun to listen to you perform! This one would be a blast in a venue with big, loud, speakers. :)
I just listened to your original on SoundCloud and I think you were channeling Jim Steinman. If only Meatloaf was still alive to perform this with you - that would be amazing!
My grandma had that same Christmas record. I like your version of this song better than that record version.
Nice. A beautiful song. It pulls me right in and sends my mind out to the past and into the future. I like it.
Good job of "letting go" on this one. You seem to give in to the song and not "push it" which works really well for this lonely song. I sense a relaxed distance from this song (which makes sense since it's not your song). Well done.
Drop the bass, boost the mid-range, add some phonograph crackle and pop, and I could be listening to an old 78 RPM record. This song works well in a "live" performance style.
Love the humming you do in this one right after your favorite lyric. You seem to tear up. Touching. The whole timbre of your voice changes at this point. Before this point, you don't seem as connected to the song. After this point, you seem connected. In the alternate version, you seem connected from the start. Pretty neat to experience this subtle change.
Great song! Would love to see this one live where you bring on a special guest female vocalist (a strong singer that can push out those high notes with you - maybe SIA???) they should join in with you at selected power phrases. :)
I like your "Beatles singing voice" on this song. :) Works great for this song and is lots of fun. I listened to the original. Your arrangement takes a straightforward song and elevates it. Good insight & inspiration on your part to envision the diamond in this song that was waiting inside the rock of the original song. You have breathed wonderful life into this one.
Wow, thank you!
That is a beautiful song Jeff with an intimate performance. Really nice.
Maybe I'm not a timeless classic sort of guy. I think this song needs some of your "arrangement magic". It's not you... it's the song. It's not the song... it's me. ;)
Drive Jeff Drive! I love your acoustic version of Not Here For The Ride. I don't want it to end - let's keep on going. :)
Thanks for checking it out! Drive on!
I love this one Jeff.
Thank you! 😎
Man.....excellent tone. I can hear that in a movie soundtrack! If only I was smart enough to write one. Curious about your story about the 2 boys with the gates of hell in their backyard.

What a great song! Ticks all the boxes for me! And I think it’s wonderful without the tubas :)
Ha! Thanks! I will have the tuba folks work on something else.
I REALLY like this song! Like, a LOT. Don’t suppose it’s on Spotify?

Nice. Your voice sounds great man! Also, 12/8 for your first video did not escape notice. By me, anyhow. And first related video, Paul McCartney composing Get Back. Always reminds me of you feeding King, out in his dog run.

I’ll miss you. You are very easy on the ears.
Thanks for watching! I'm working on some new content now and hope to be posting soon.
You're doing good work. Thank you for the updates.
Thanks! I work to keep everyone in the know!
I love this one. Good work. You know I'm in no way a Trump fan, but I really don't know that "de-platforming" him was a reasonable thing to do. Not in regards to him so much as in regards to us as a collective. Shutting people down, cancelling them, it's all just censorship. If we're the people we say we are, we can deal with words. If someone comes out with ridiculous ideas it's in our interest to come up with better ones that counter those ridiculous ideas, not just say "you're cancelled, F you."
Werll said!
So much hate, so little time. Imagine if those who focused so much on cancelling others took that energy and time and put it towards something more positive. Imagine....Eventually all these people do is put a target on their own backs...
Makes me think of when you asked if I'd play guitar for the Evita performance. Well, I don't read music, and I know absolutely nothing about Evita or really any musical. Oh there's TWO guitar parts I'd need to learn? By next month? Well then hell yeah I'm in!
And it was glorious!
@@frodoson It was definitely fun.
I always hated those things. Creeped me out. They don't have them here in CO.
Totally creepy, right?
I remember learning about this in 10th grade English class. It is the only memorable day of that class, other than then Ms Spalding's legs. . Also, "There is no such thing as a product. Don't ever think there is. There is only sex. Everything is sex. You understand that what I'm telling you is a universal truth, Toby."
Ha! I had to read this book during one of my Comm classes. (www.amazon.com/Subliminal-Seduction-Wilson-Bryan-Key/dp/0451061489) Seemed like a lot of it was a stretch - like you really wanted to see it. If you have to work that hard...

Oh, yes! A fine moment both for us kids and the CPD!

Reminds me of my childhood. Thanks for the memory. How about Mega Godzilla?
Ha! I was trying to stay spoiler-free!
I have several guns. I've had my conceal carry permit for 7yrs now and make time to train at an action range. Carrying without doing so is irresponsible. As far as "heading into a dangerous situation", that, as we've seen, not far from my home, can be the grocery store. I have no desire to shoot anyone, but even less desire to be a victim. There really are "good guys" with guns. I know the vast majority of them, all of them that I know personally, hope to never need to use them in a confrontation. Love you man!
Like you, I know many responsible gun owners. I appreciate the time, training, and sense of responsibility you and the others dedicate toward proper use, maintenance, and all that comes with owning a weapon...or weapons. I wish everyone who had a gun made the same commitment. Thanks for setting a good example! Love you too!
@@frodoson I'm completely for the concept of required training; safety and skill training. I don't know how that would be enforced in a way that doesn't piss off the lunatics, but it really should be a thing.
@@medicinegone Seems like a lot of work goes into not pissing off the lunatics.
Spot ON!!

Great video, wish everyone could see it.
First thing I read from him was The Apt Pupil, mid 80s. Had no idea who "Richard Bachman" was at the time. I just remember thinking, wow this person has a really' f'd up mind. And I was glad for that.
My first was BATTLEGROUND. It's a short one, but a good one. If you get a chance to check it out - it's worth a read. My favorite Bachman book is Thinner. Man...so many good stories. So many strange/wonderful ideas.
@@frodoson Yeah, great book. I think I have read all of his work up through The Stand.
Noice one.
