This just cracks me up Tim - you realize I really AM a born-again carnivore right? I eat all the fatty meat I can get. No plants. LOL God we've been friends for what, way over 50 years now. We still gotta go do that summer trip to the old Y Camp on Cobbossee. Hope you are well and happy man. :-)

Tim, I absolutely love it. You are a man after my own heart. And I am definitely "from away". I had a couple of friends that grew up in Maine. I loved them both and both brought a unique perspective on life from a fish camp point of view. I, like you, see the universal truth (I am always looking for the funny) in everything. You nailed it. It is all about commonality and respect. I loved Bert and I. So much so, that I had to go to Maine just to experience the culture firsthand. I went up for Lobster Fest and then drove upstate to Acadia. I absolutely loved Maine. It is Americana at its absolute best, seemingly frozen in time. It is hardworking Americans showing the best of us. And with a little respect, you can learn from the local population. You learn fast that the locals don't like out-of-towners if they come in thinking they corner the market on how things should be done. I could live in Maine for the rest of my days and be happy. However, being From Away I will always be just that. I love the Downeast humor and get it even though I am not from there. Just makes me roll thinking about it. What a rich and beautiful culture. I was born in Nebraska. We are a bunch of German Lutheran dirt farmers that cut a town out of a cornfield. Cheers Mate, Gary

My Mother and I stopped by at the Waldo Theater back in the 80's to see a show of yours, and coincidentally, I was studying The Maine accent, which wasn't a huge stretch from my own at the time. considering I was born here, but there was still a fairly big difference between my current accent, and the accent of the old timers I was used to hearing when sitting on the outskirts of the family table during story swapping time. We thoroughly enjoyed your show, and I just want you to know that you are still greatly appreciated here in this community, and especially among my family. On my Father's side, we came from Boothbay, the same as your home town. We were from the Reed clan, maybe you can recall one or two of us. Well anyways, I just wanted you to know that you are still being watched and loved, God Bless You Tim Sample!!!

This is seriously one of my fave sketches by you, cause its so out of the blue of everything else you've done. Memorized it when I had the VHS tape (bought at Beans at the time!) and even did it for your mom in the kitchen of the big house with your sis Debbie sitting there. Both laughing. ...................... The irony is ...................... I was watching a Jordan B. Peterson video lately and guess what his diet is! He's a carnivore! All meat all the time. Its a thing now. You created a movement you get no credit of being the father of! LOL

My father passed Dec. 23 2020. He was a hard, real Mainer till the end. I love him to death. You could never match his work ethic, sense of humor and handyman intelligence. He grew up on the island. He built a family and legacy down in Texas. When I hear that accent or see a boat I feel closer to him. His wind will always be ablow!

Maine Humorists are a rare breed, and have well developed stories. There's one about a Rabbit Hunt that I am looking for, but I can't tell whose story it is.
