Lithograph Process - The Immigrant II by Gino Castellanos
This is not a how-to video!
It's a short clip showing a few scenes from the making of this lithograph, which took roughly two weeks in total to draw, process and print.
I Allow my imagination to guide my pencil as I'm drawing some of these textures with the hope that it looks unnatural and dreamy. If you have any questions or suggestions drop em in the comment section.
You can also buy this original Lithography print at my store at ginocastellanos.com/shop

This video is an attempt to document my work in graduate school and to share a little bit of my process with the world. This print in particular is part of a larger body of work. In sharing what I do, I also hope to demonstrate a little bit of the dos and don'ts of this beautiful technique. If you want to see more of my work, please consider contacting me at: ginocastellanos.com or on instagram...

What kind of pen or ink is that? Amazing stuff!

Hi! And thank you. Herr I'm using Korn's Lithographic Crayons which are made of highly greasy stuff so that the stone surface can absorb it. They are soft and greasy and the stone has a natural texture that gives me that pointilism look.

hii!! What wood did you use? its so soft to see

Hi! So, this wood is called MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) and can be found at places like Home Depot. They come in different sizes. MDF is soft to carve. Slightly tougher than linoleum, but it's the next softer thing. It has no wood grain so that helps too. It holds detail under pressure better than linoleum, so you may be able to get smaller lines in there depending on your carving style. Hope that helps!
