Приєднався 11 тра 2012
Cara creates one of a kind textiles only using natural dye stuffs such as botanicals, plant matter, minerals, non-toxic metals and food wastes. She treats her fabrics through alchemical dye sessions, shibori techniques and bundle dyeing, transforming each textile into its very own story.
Cara teaches workshops on natural dyeing and curates unique experiences merging healing, color and art. Interested in merging both industry and alchemy, Cara aims to use the medium of natural dyes to create logistical solutions for waste. Fostering and foraging relationships between restaurants, event planners and fashion designers is an integral part of her practice. Through creating these networks she aims to provide sustainable alternatives to the synthetic dye industry.
Designer and artist clients include: Jason Wu, Mara Hoffman, Eileen fisher, Eckhaus Latta, Alice Waese, Dena Yago, Club Monaco, chakrubs, Jennifer Behr, 11:11, Judi Rosen, Mimi Prober and more.

Olive green
Just found your channel, so excited
Beautiful, thank you ❣️ can I use aluminum or stainless steel, I don’t have copper and I think a big one would be very expensive, I’m trying to live on SS.
Yes ! Both can produce beautiful results ! I always say use what you have at hand :)
dandelions are very good for your liver. <3 also i wanted to bring your attention to the existance of pink and white dandelions, both varieties from japan, and the Itallian variety Italiko Rosso grown for its large red veined leaves. i'm going to make attempt no 2 to grow the pink ones this year. I tried last year with both colors and fusarium wilt got them I think. I also have a book with a recipe for mugwort vinegar and soba noodles. <3
Thank you!!! I will look them up 🤍💕
Love this technique - question: Do you treat the fabric - in this case the cotton hankies - before you dye? Thanks!
Yes we do! There are many types of mordants you can use :) , I recommend heading to botanicalcolors.com for the list !
@@caramariepiazza i'm looking at the seeds on this website, and I think I'm just gonna go directly to the merchants that you source them from. the colors all look lovely. gives me an example to work towards.
That second plant looks more like dead nettle than catnip?
You are totally right!!! We made an amendment !
WOW!!❤
Hola un abrazo de veracruz mexico
Lovely 😊
I could be wrong, but I don't think that one with purple flowers is catnip. It looks more like purple dead nettle. Thanks for the tips on natural dying!
You are correct!!! There should be an amendment ! Thank you!
yeah catnip has white flowers. but the real test is to put it near a cat.
I took one of your bundle dyeing classes and loved the result on silk! What about dyeing on other fabrics? Would suede take the colors if treated with a mordant first? Thank you for sharing your techniques! I'm coming back for the ice dyeing class next. Thanks Cara
Suede is a little tough since it’s leather but can take rust + vinegar solutions and other colors! You can also dye any natural fiber like cotton or wool 🤍
@@caramariepiazza Thanks so much for your fast response. I look forward to more workshops in the future! <3
Cara - awesome as always. Love learning from you... thank you for being so generous... a beautiful spirit. XO - Denise
