HOME LABORATORY EXPERIMENTS: Tutorial on how to make Concrete Test Cylinder Samples
HOME LABORATORY EXPERIMENTS: Tutorial on how to make Concrete Test Cylinder Samples
Materials to use:
PVC Pipe
Cement
Aggregates
Water
Steel Rod
Shovel
STEPS :
1. Prepare the cylinder molds (PVC pipe 6” diameter and 12” height). Using the permanent marker , mark each cylinder mold with the date, location, and number of each one
2. Set up the materials to use for concrete mixing , cement , aggregates and water. Use shovel to mix the concrete.
3. After mixing, place the concrete into cylinder mold using the shovel, fill the cylinder mold half way then use your steel rod to stroke 25 times, then tap the outside of the cylinder 10 to 15 times.
4. Scoop more concrete to overfilled the mold, this time insert the rod 1 inch or 25 mm half way up, stroke 25 times then tap the outside of the mold 10 to 15 times.
5. Use your steel rod to scrape off excess concrete to create a flat surface even with the top edge of the mold.
6. Place the mold into clean surface to dry it 24 hrs. After that place it into clean water to cure for 28 days.
