This has been a long time coming. Vito Bratta is one of my favorite players and this song has one of my all time favorite guitar solos.

Here's a sneak preview of my latest song. I'm so excited about this one and the solo is definitely my favorite one that I've written. The guitar is my Warmoth 7/8 build loaded with EMGs and I used the NeuralDSP Soldano SLO 100 Suite and Celestion impulse responses for the guitar tones. @warmoth @NeuralDSP @CelestionUK @emgtv #80smusic #80srock #glammetal #hairmetal

It’s time for another solo cover! This time I’m attempting Tim Pierce’s AWESOME solo he played in Alyson off of Rick Springfield’s album Living In Oz.
Bad Luck (Guitar Solo) - FM - Ben Funk

I decided it was time for another solo cover. This time I’m tackling the guitar solo from FM’s Bad Luck. Gear highlights include my Warmoth 7/8 build and my trusty Soldano SLO-100. No amp modeling here! Rosie and Theo also really wanted to be in the video.

Sounds fantastic!
@@TVoltG Thank you!
Really good.
Super catchy ear worm. :) Nice song writing. Great job on this!
@@wolfsdenmusic9404 Thank you!
Great song! And that guitar sound is a thing of beauty.
@@wolfsdenmusic9404 Thank you so much!
Btw the lyrics are totally radical and awesome. 🔥
@@endtimeguitarist Thank you! I’m glad you liked it! We were very excited to finally release this song. 🙂
Love this! Great song guys!🎸🕯
@@CannedAir Thank you! We really appreciate that!
Thanks for the update on the song! I’ve got it on full blast atm!
Great tone!! I love it♡
Thank you!
Cool.
@@cortos_9733 Thanks!
Outfuckingstanding!!!
Thank you!
Loop the track if there will never be a full version because like the commenter down below this track rocks! 🎸
Funny enough, I’m days away from releasing a full version of the song in collaboration with my songwriting partner for our AOR/melodic hard rock project. 🙂
@ sweet bro! Will it be on this channel that it gets uploaded?
@@endtimeguitarist Yes, as well as my project page. If you search Rekkless - Until We Meet Again, you'll find the page. You can hear our first song there as well.
@@endtimeguitaristThe full version of the song dropped today. I’ve posted the lyric video to this channel. It will be the most recent upload lt Takes A Little Spark. 🙂
It’s so bright and cheerful. It reminds me of steve vai. It’ not that it is the carvin tone but it’s that it has this glowing warmth on those high notes that is just extremely cheerful and has that 80’s love characteristic. I like it! I probably appreciate it a lot more after years of playing.
@@endtimeguitarist Thank you so much! I think a big part of that warm tone is the SD alnico II pro pick up. It’s one of my favorite all around pickups, especially for lead playing.
Are those the amp settings (pictured here) used in the clip ?
wow that's it !!!
@@teslanick1 Thanks!
Yeah buoy!!! Killer
@@cragginshred Thank you!! You get killer tones yourself!
Rock the Tyketto...sick tone!
Thanks!
Very Lynchy
@@G-NutZ Definite a huge influence!
Holy shit. Immaculate playing my dude
@@mokhan8832 Thank you!
What greenback IR did you use for this?
Tyketto dude 🤘 thanks for playing something this amp shines on. Very hard to find good demos of SLOs because everyone is trying to use them for cut mid hardcore stuff half the time.
Tyketto-Forever Young🤘🎸🔥
@@elefsidi Yes!
what a great tone!
@@Rodrigo_Esteban Thank you!
This was the solo way back when that turned me onto Tim Pierce. I was like, “what the hell was that?!!” Great job. Now to play it myself 😉
Thank you! He’s one of my favorites. Always hits the right notes and knows when to cut loose.
@@FirestormAudio Oh! So agree!
Love it!
Thanks!
Sounds fantastic, I'm trying to recreate on my Axe FX III. Your a great player as well.
Thanks! I’m sure you could really close with the right IR. I’ve never used any of fractal’s products, but I’ve heard other demos get really good results using their SLO model. The neuraldsp SLO plug in is also like 95% of the way there too.
Soldano and Dragon Ball. This is the way.
Match made in heaven!
Love those sliding notes going on in there... very well done!
Thank you!
All this amp needs is a speaker upgrade and you can pick 'em used for very reasonable prices...
I put a Vintage Celestion G12K85 in mine and fuggetaboutit!
You are a great player and this sounds awesome. Does the amp sound this good in the room through it's speaker or through another cab?
Thank you! You could definitely get a similar tone if you plugged the amp into a 2x12 or 4x12. I’ve seen other videos that have demonstrated this well. As a combo it sounds just okay - a little to harsh/brittle to my ears. I’ve always said the DSL40c would be my favorite amp for the money if Marshall made it into a head. Regardless if what you plug into the amp feels great under the fingers.
@@FirestormAudio Have you ever played the newer 40CR models to compare to yours? I'd really like a new one over trying to find a used 40C in good shape and am hoping it sounds as good as yours.
I haven’t played them, but it seems to be universally agreed on that they sound better. The original 40c can sound really harsh and bright. It’s my understanding that they smoothed out the highs with the CR revision.
Got a Motley Crew tone vibe…love it.
Thank you!
Nice amp they just need to rethink the reverb and it would be perfect.
Agreed. The effect is so subtle that they shouldn’t have bothered.
Great amp and playing
This is awesome. Killer tones and killer licks!
Thank you!
Great job!!!!
Thank you!
Hey bro what are the exact settings and did you boost this up?
Was the song that was being played beautiful girls by Van Halen?
Yeah, just the first few bars. I wanted to show that the amp could get a reasonable approximation of the brown sound.
You have an album man?great tune i love to hear more from you
Hey, thanks! I have all of my original music on soundcloud. soundcloud.com/jekt-1
@@FirestormAudio thanks man it would be great to follow your chanel!!
Marshall the favourite amplifiers for the society of the hearing impaired!
Maybe you’ll find my Dumble video more pleasing to the ear.
Great tone! Can you tell me what tubes you like in your slo? Mine is probably due.
Thanks! Mine still has the original tubes from the factory - Sovtek 5881s and I think JJ 12ax7’s in the preamp. I may try different preamp tubes at some point, but I’m happy with the tone as is.
Interesting. I have JJ 6l6 in there and those are fine, but tonight I pulled out the JJ v1 and v2 and put in a nos GE in v1 and sylvania in v2 and really liked it. I felt like the JJ 12ax7s were too wooly and not very articulate. With that said, I wouldnt change what you are doing!@@FirestormAudio
@@robertlevasseur8896 People say that a lot about JJs, so I think it’s definitely worth experimenting with at some. I usually find myself trying to tame the top end of most amps, so I’m not sure I want to brighten mine up.
@@FirestormAudio imo bright tubes often lack a wooliness and sound more articulate, and you keep those qualities when the treble/presence are rolled off. With dark tubes, people often crank the presence and then complain about the fizz
Does the amp image show the actual settings you used?
Yes! Those were the settings I used and I played through the lead 1 channel. I later realized I had the mid shift button pressed when I recorded this and it sounds even better off imo.
Awesome work - I've been looking for this for ages - do you have the tab for that awesome slide/run at the end?
Thank you! I actually learned it from one of Tim Pierce’s videos. Here’s the link.
@@FirestormAudio Awesome - which link?

Ben Thanks for posting looking at a Warmoth build, nice tone and playing nice guitar as well
Thank you! They're not the most cost effective route to go for a parts guitar, but you can get exactly what you want and the quality is excellent.
Thank you for the glammy thirds dyads riffs dude
Anytime dude.
I have the same amp, just was wondering what overdrive channel you were using for this? Definitely heard some Van Halen and some Dokken in there to my ears anyway.
Sounds so good dude! What cab are you using?
Thank you! This was impulse response from the Celestion G12M 4x12 cab pack. I used the R121/57 hi gain mix.
What brand and make is that guitar? Nice playing too by the way!
Hey, thanks! It’s a warmoth build that I spec’d and built. Swamp ash body, roasted flame maple neck, and dimarzio super distortion in the bridge and humbucker from hell in the neck.
@@FirestormAudio looks and sounds great! I'd love to do a Warmoth build some day 🕺🏻
@@versnellingspookie It's definitely worth it!
Fantastic
Thank you!
Awesome cover, thumbs up!
Great tone! I'd love to also hear some old school Satriani vibe out of one of these!
