Sadie - Travel and Running
Приєднався 4 вер 2013
Hi I'm Sadie!
I'm searching for the most beautiful marathons around the world and helping runners travel for races.
I offer four types of services for runners:
➡️ Runcation Consultations
➡️ Tailored Travel Itineraries
➡️ End-to-End Trip Planning
➡️ Running Club Group Trips
Runcation consultations are a 30-minute call to kick-start your planning, finalize your trip, and more.
Tailored Travel Itineraries are a great option for people who want expert guidance, but don't need everything. I’ll create a vacation blueprint and you will just need to do the bookings.
End-to-End Trip Planning is a full service option. Everything will be handled for you, you just need to train.
Running club group trips are a great option for a running club that is looking to travel to Europe for a marathon or half. Group bookings can be complicated, but I will handle all of the work for you.
I also have an international FB running community for women, join here: bit.ly/jetsettingrunners

Marathon du Medoc Review | The ULTIMATE BUCKET LIST RACE | Jet-Setting Runner
Переглядів 3912 місяці тому
Would you run the Marathon du Medoc? This French Wine race offers 23 wine tastings for runners over 26.2 miles, and I signed up to run with just 9 days to go. I loved the entire race and would highly recommend people run this race. Below I answered some of the most frequent questions I get about this race: ✅ What makes this race so special? From the silk artists over the start, to the people se...

Did you know I'm a travel agent for runners? I know how difficult planning an international trip around a race can be - I've run 15 half marathons across Europe and two marathons. Searching out running routes, prioritizing carbo loading and hydration, planning activities around how my legs would feel, and doing all of this while training, working, and trying to spend time with your family and f...

The Copenhagen Half Marathon is one of the most popular races in the SuperHalf series, but it's also in one of the most expensive cities in Europe. Unfortunately, I'm not rich, but I did run the Copenhagen Half marathon on a budget in 2023 during my year of half marathons. Here are my tips and tricks. This video breaks down race weekend, along with some of my favorite free things to do, what to...

Nine Things to Know About Wine Half Marathons | Best Half Marathons in Europe | Jet-Setting Runner

Have you ever considered that maybe wine tastings shouldn't be relaxing? And half marathons should aim to get your drunk instead of hydrated? If so, this video is for you. During my year of running a half marathon every month in a new country, I took a trip to France to run in the Beaujolais International Half Marathon. This wine based half has over a dozen wine tastings spread across the 13.1 ...
Best (and Worst) Half Marathons in Europe - Ranking Every Race I Ran in 2023
Переглядів 8 тис.9 місяців тому
In 2023 I ran a half marathon every single month in a new country. These are my final rankings on those 12 races. Not every half marathon is created equally, and these races are some of the best and worst half marathons that you can find in Europe. It is true that every race I ran in 2023 had some positives and negatives, but overall there were clear winners and losers. I think of these ranking...
Welcome to the drunkest marathon on Earth.
Omg einfach Blankeneser Heldenlauf😁
Aside from the stairs, it was amazing 😅
Hoping to get my Dublin City Marathon ticket for next year. Currently training for my Barcelona Marathon
Best of luck in Barcelona! I've got some friends running that this year as well
I'm planning something very similar for 2025. I want to try to run in a European country every month. I have Valencia 10k in January and Romeo and Juliet half marathon booked so far with other penciled in my diary 🏃🏻♂️🏴. Great video. I will check out some of your recommendations. Thank you
Best of luck! If you're open to any distance, check out the Peniche Corrida das Foguieras 15km. It's about 90 minutes outside of Lisbon and truly the whole town comes out to cheer. Plus you get to run past tons of bonfires along the ocean.
Super women
That’s interesting because I ran my first and only half in Copenhagen in 2019 and loved it. Hopefully this year it was just a blip.
@@alakabaz3 I think it may have been, in 2024 it seems to have improved lots the only issue I’m still hearing is too many runners on the narrow streets
Love this video! I would love to go on similar travels too one day! Ever considered the Stockholm Halvmarathon? It's a bit of a slower course but such a pretty one!
Thank you! If you ever need help planning a European race, please let me know! I help runners travel to Europe for races. And I haven't looked at Stockholm yet, mostly because that area is a bit pricy and I am hoping to do the Sea Ice Half in Lulea
Well, here I was contemplating running the Funchal half in January :(( Anyway thanks, great list. I highly recommend the Vilnius half in September, lovely course and atmosphere despite very few onlookers.
You're the third person to mention Vilnius to me in the last month, I'll have to check it out! And thinking more on Funchal, I do think it has two good things going for it: it's all flat/downhill, and it's a tropical race in January! The course might not be stunning, but the break from the cold winter weather might still be worth it.
@@jetsetting_runner Thanks for making me less fearful of booking Funchal then. The weather is a big factor so I'm looking to other continents too.
@@jetsetting_runner Vilnius was my first so I may be biased, but it was truly lovely.
@@saintsaens21 I think everyone is a bit biased with races depending on the memories they associate with the race, but I have heard great things about Vilnius!
Have you ever thought of doing the (half)-dramathon in Scotland? It’s like the wine tasting one but with whisky
I actually did, and then I reached out to the organizers to ask how many Whiskey stops there are and they said "we don't serve it during the race as we don't want folk falling into The Spey". But I have also put together a list of every wine race in Europe, plus a few other boozy ones that I am slowly working my way through. jetsettingrunner.com/2024/05/31/european-wine-marathons/
I run it with my French brother in law - is rule is if it’s served in a plastic cup drink one, if it’s in a glass drink two ! Great atmosphere we rolled in at 6:14 - our longest split was 17 minutes!!!! Madness!
I don't know if I would've survived if I had followed that rule, one glass at each stop (except the first one) was more than enough 😅
Thanks for this! - from the UK looking at registering for the 2025 race and had no idea where to start.
@@WithChrisW first step is following the Marathon du Medoc on Instagram! The bibs sell out typically in less than a day so you will want to be notified when they go on sale. I believe they also have an email list sign up
Great video loved hearing about all those races 😊
Thank you!
Thanks for the video. Great synopsis. Ireland is windy. I regularly run out by Clontarf and it can be pretty wild. If you can handle the wind and don’t mind hills the Kilkee Half Marathon is beautiful. Running by the coastal cliffs along the Atlantic. It’s out and back and hilly but worth it for the views. I ran the Midnight Sun Marathon this year… spectacular
I honestly didn't mind the wind once I got used to it, I will have to check out the Kilkee Half, I did the WAW a few years back driving and I loved it. Can't imagine how beautiful it must be on foot.
@@jetsetting_runner I made a video of the Kilkee event...I drove and recorded the entire course on the GoPro and the footage is in this video ua-cam.com/video/56gII2U43YA/v-deo.html
Wow, so many unique locations for a half marathon! I ran Prague Half Marathon and besides some little organisational hickups (same as Copenhagen, like you said Sadie!), I found it magical. And I live here, so I didn't see anything new, but it was just so cool to experience the city this way.
I want to do Prague half one day (and visit!), my goal is to try and run a half marathon in every country in Europe.
@@jetsetting_runner that’s an amazing goal!
Notes taken, thanks for the insight! Sounds perfect 😍
I run my first half marathon in april (Bergen City Marathon, Norway) and I'm hooked!! Not that long after I joined the Bilbao one, in October, looking forward to it! And running and traveling more :D especially The Midnight Sun one I want to do, probably will do it next year! This video was so useful and fun, and your blog is great! Keep up the good work , cheer for you! The fb group is an amazing initiative too, so cool!
Thank you Elena and congrats on your first half! I've only done Midnight Sun in Norway, but I have heard the country in general produces some great races. I will have to check out the Bergen one. And Bilbao sounds beautiful! I've always wanted to run in Basque. I tried to sign up for the San Sebastien but they sell out over a year in advance
Yesss more of this please !
More is on its way!
The kayak and trash collection thing sounds awesome
Honestly I'm so bummed I wasn't able to book in time. I would've loved to do it AND it would allow me to rest my legs pre/post race
Had the same experience at Clontarf in 2023, it was also one of the hottest days of the year. Heat and strong wind in face with no shade was hellish, bodies dropping everywhere the last few Km. View was also pretty boring. Been searching for some continental half marathons to do so thanks for your great guide!
Honestly, I avoid any race that is out and back along the water because I get so bored after the first 5km. But I'm glad this guide is helpful!
Good luck on your UA-cam journey 😎
Thank you!
Hiya Sadie.Yes I have run the Marathon they do in tromso.I ran it in 2022.I agree wholeheartedly it is a truly fantastic race.Tromso itself is a lovely town,I stayed in a log cabin on the same side as the Chapel.I climbed the sherpa steps before I ran the Marathon. As for the marathon itself I found the last 6 miles or so quite hard as you are on the dual carriageway that near the airport, all in all a truly amazing experience that you might only do once in your life.Im running my 3rd Marathon in Norway which is 4hrs drive North of Bergen, which is called Joster Maraton in Vassenden on 6th July.Gonna be a very quiet marathon but the scenery is something else Sadie.Liked your video and hope to see more content from yourself.Oh and finally I don't think I'll be brave enough to jump in the Fjord from the floating sauna think,I'll stick to the indoor pool they have in Bergen. Take Care!!!🏃🏃🏃
I love the details! The half marathon sticks mainly to the highway, and I found it quite nice, but I can see how it would be tricky after you've hit the wall! I know this year construction forced them to change the routes up a bit so they don't go to the airport anymore. Best of luck on your marathon this year! Norway is such an incredible place to run
Heheh it's indeed great to have excuses to travel to Norway, and they have so many races happening almost the whole year round!
Can you upload and show us what’s some of these marathons look like ? Would be great to get a visual ( go pro )
Unfortunately, I decided to start this channel after I finished running all of these races, but I have short-form video footage on my Instagram @ jetsetting_runner
LOVE THIS REVIEW 👌
Thank you!
Great reviews, only one I’ve done here is Edinburgh but will be doing Copenhagen and Budapest.
Fingers crossed Copenhagen can figure things out this year, I have heard that they have solutions to all of the issues that arose last year. And Budapest will be amazing! The views of Parliament are stunning, just drink lots of water!
@@jetsetting_runner CPH clicked in 2024. Start and finish back at the usual spot near Faelledparken, start time a bit earlier than 2022. 28018 starters, 27784 finishers. Perfect weather (14 deg, sunny and almost no wind). I was in the 1:50 start group and crossed the startline 28 minutes after the elite runners. 2023 was marred by a new route, new location for start and finish but also very hot conditions, causing WAY too many to overheat, and require medical assistance. I was spectating, and had to provide immediate help to a middle aged man, that had opted not to use any of the water stations. He had professional help within 5 mins, despite being about 4,5k from the finish. The finish was brutal, mostly due to many runners collapsing in the final 500m or so, causing many spectators to assist them. I saw 4 ambulances on the final 400m or so. You could hardly blame the organizers for runners not being able to cope with the heat?
That was lovely, Sadie! I am very happy that you enjoyed my hometown and the race. Welcome back to Tromsø!❤
I'm so jealous that you get to call this beautiful city your hometown! Can't wait for my next trip.
Yes fantastic place, lovely weather when was the foe the Marathon in 2022.Love Norway
Thank you for sharing your video - I’ll be running the marathon this year and this is super useful info 😄👍
Best of luck with the marathon and I hope you have an amazing time in Tromso!
Great video, thanks for sharing it with us. 🙏
Thank you for watching!
Thank you for the tips! I would also recommend you to run the Barcelona Half marathon next year! Such a beautiful race!
I'm definitely adding it to my list! Barcelona is such an amazing city.
Ohhh id love this! I do wonder how my body would react 😅. Can you name some other wine half marathons?
Honestly, I was pretty nervous for my body but it wasn't so bad. Since you had to take breaks throughout the race to get wine I was never working that hard, and I also never went faster than my easy pace. The thing I hear people mention the most is that they think they would puke, but I don't think I saw a single person getting sick. There are a bunch of wine half marathons in France such as the Chablis Half and the Alsace Half. You can also find a wine half in the UK called the Baccus Half, after the Greek God. There's also a Sherry Half Marathon in Jerez, Spain. Of course, the most famous is the Marathon du Mudoc in the Bordeaux Region, but this does not have an accompanying half. I've found in my research that almost every major wine region has a half marathon or 10k that you can find with a google search of the region name + "wine half marathon". Hope this helps!
@@jetsetting_runnerThank you so much!!!
When you become extremely famous from this please remember I was the first like and comment on your first video. Loved it btw!!!
Thank you! Launching this channel has been my goal for a long time, but I kept putting it off, never feeling ready.
