I actually live in cottage Grove
Thank You Daniel for sharing some much history about Cottage Grove. We often go there and will now look at the city and the area in a different light.
Thank You Daniel Hill for sharing this history. It's hard to imagine the days when travel south from the lighthouse was done by horseback during low tides. Having looked down at the ocean from Sea Lion Caves, I never thought there would be a beach there during a low tide. It's harder yet to think there were a few stage lines operating from Drain, Oregon to Heceta Head. Wonderful history of times long forgotten.
Are you talking about cottage grove Oregon because I live their
🎊
I live up in Dorena. Are there some locations known around here from the film that I could find? Fascinating.
I have heard that the train wreck took place near the Bohemia mill site, but I don't know exactly where.
Thank you for putting this together!
I loved reading her books. What an endearing soul.
Nice. Thanks!
Nice video! It would be great to see this expanded into a 20-25 minute version for local school students and others. Would really be a good project to involve students in researching, writing, editing, video, etc.
Nice video. Do you have the picture of the parade at 1:17? It shows a man pulling a rickshaw wearing an Asian hat. Riding, is be a woman wearing a what looks like a kimono. She's possibly Japanese, looking at the dress and the hair style. Beside her, looking back at the horse is what a appears to be an Akita dog. I would love to get a good quality copy of it. I've used the same image at a display for the Oregon Asian Celebration, but this picture is better quality than mine.
Steve, I just got my internet service up and going yesterday after it was destroyed by the snow. I'm sure the original of the photo you mentioned is at the CG Museum www.cottagegrovemuseum.com and I think Cathy Belevita would probably be the best person to ask about it. Good Luck, Dan Hill
