This is an example that shows us that sometimes having money and power is not the equivalent of an honest, and kind individual. The character of a person, and how they treat others is more important that the amount of money inside their pockets. I will give an example; I am currently finishing my BA in Social Work and found your organization through a homework assignment. As an ex-Military Wife of 11 years, 5 children, who's lived in Japan during a Tsunami, Hawaii during an Earthquake, WA state, CT, & P.R, who has endured homelessness, 3 Domestic Violence shelters, and now Stage IV Metastatic Breast/Bone Cancer, and most importantly, as a minority, I can say one thing, I worked in Bridgeport Hospital here in CT (where I currently live) during the pandemic for 2 years as a Security Officer, making $18 an hour, hardly able to pay my bills, all by watching homeless individuals in the ER be discarded just as if they were trash. Let's call it...don't offer, and they won't ask. A hospital will not ask the homeless individual who came in with all their belongings in bags, "Do you need a place to stay"? I wonder, why? Because it is not a hospital's duty to assist them in that need? When I google, "What do Hospital Social Worker's do? This is the result, "They may guide people through insurance and financial situations, offer counseling and grief support and help resolve social and environmental issues affecting their health". Why then, is this not happening? Why are homeless individuals in hospital's not being offered assistance through a Case Worker or Social Worker? Why are they placed in the outside waiting room in the ER, where I worked, through the winter months, in the cold, myself wearing my warm Jacket, while they sit there, cold, and hungry, waiting for a ride that the hospital offered, that frankly......never comes. They have to cross the street and sleep that evening in a church next to the hospital, so they can come the next day, and hopefully get a sandwich from the ER techs. Why does this country still wonder why the poor are still poor and the rich keep getting richer? I spoke with many homeless individuals in the ER, and even placed a couple in a hotel for 5 days, and gave them my old Toyota, once I bought a new SUV.....they are all good people who have no resources, they have no money for a down payment of an apartment, they have no assistance with job hunting, some have no cell phones, nor an address to receive the government free phones. As soon as I gave them the car, they started working for Grubhub, and they started making money. The female had connections, and she had a License. All they need is help. If someone like me, who barely has money in the bank, who has 5 children, who has Cancer which is....incurable, and has spread all over my body, was willing to help a homeless couple flourish, can you imagine what would happen if all the rich, and wealthy people of this world did the same? And not just sit back, and do frankly nothing to make actual change happen? Do you know why this is happening? Because we don't like to SHARE. The same reason people are fighting for land, and why wars have happened in this world. Just.....share. Selfishness is a mental illness as well. People are not awake; they simply don't want to see the real problem with this world. It is such a sad reality.

Thank you for this interview! Perspectives such as Mr Snyders are so important during this scary time when one of the two major parties in our country has all but given up on representational democracy.
