Hiw did u get that intro with all the faces?
Thank you! I'm hyped for VF 5 REVO on Steam and found your video. Very helpful. 😊
Same bro.Im hyped and also wanna take a break from playing Tekken 8
When's next chapter? >u>
Wait so, what are the requirements to actually trade blows?
I love these videos. It helps me understand the game better.
One of the biggest mistakes in VF is that you learn how to combo first. Once you reach higher levels, you realize that the most important thing is defense. Thank you for the video.
I think I played against the best player in the world, I could only win a few times, he was a master at it.
I want a more realistic and with dept in moves Virtua Fighter, that means realistic velocity and hight of fall, nothing behond the real I would prefear and with a dept of move-counter-counter moves etc... make blocks do actual moves of defence... no effects on the touch, make it realistic for VF6, at least make a realist version we can put on on the game.
This literally doesn't work as shown
this is so so well done
fantastic work!!
Bravissimo
I didn’t know that just the directional inputs are enough to breaks the 4 throws, and G breaks the neutral. Now i know why we do directional+G. Thanks WM!
Thank you for such great videos, WireMan! These surely will help out those starting the VF! You’re making the VF scene stronger! One thing I thought your viewers might find helpful was that a successful DM gives you the frame advantage that you would have had if blocked the opponent’s attack. So, in many situations, it is better to start attacking after one successfully performs a DM. As such, it is NOT your turn even if you successfully evade your opponent’s single punch since you are still at a frame disadvantage had you blocked the punch.

Amazing video! very clear
Love your Virtua Fighter guides. Watched em' all, enjoyed em'. In my opinion, arguably the best on UA-cam. I have a few questions though. I'm interested in Virtua Fighter, so, which character(s) would you suggest for learning Virtua Fighter fundamentals with? Also, is Virtua Fighter 4 : Evolution tutorial sufficient enough to turn an amateur into a high level player?
Hi, thanks for the kind words! In terms of making a high level player with tutorials, VF4Evo tells you everything you need to know about the core game and even some character and matchup specific stuff. It's about as complete as a tutorial can be. That said, nothing replaces hard work and the tutorial itself is designed with the assumption that you do a lesson, play against real people with what you've learned, then come back for the next one. That time applying what you've learned and talking to the people your practicing it on is where a lot of the value is. As for characters to learn with, in VF4 through to 5, I tend to lean on Pai and Lau when I'm out of practice as they're quite straightforward and don't have any hurdles when trying to execute their main gameplans. Jeffry is another good shout for that. Lastly Jacky has lots of strings and mixups so can be enjoyed at a beginner level, but his high level stuff can be quite tricky so you'll just hit a hurdle later on, but a really fun guy to mess around with. Hope this helps!
@@WireManFGC Thank You for replying! Much appreciated! 🎮!
@WireManFGC I’m a huge Rambo fan always have been so I thought why not learn and master some of these concepts with him in MK11 before moving into SF6.
@WireManFGC I’ve always been a bigger DC fan than MK so I figured I’ll pick someone up on Injustice 2 and start playing them not sure who yet possibly Black Adam since his movie is finally coming out this year after being long delayed.
Could you potentially do one for Project L in the future?
Certainly!
@WireManFGC I’ve always been a huge fan of Mortal Kombat as well as Street Fighter so I figure before SF6 releases why not use Mortal Kombat 11 the game I’ve been playing to learn some of these concepts that will carry over to SF6 on release so that way when I find a main I can hit the ground running.
Absolutely! I was tempted to use either Mortal Kombat or Injustice in the blocking example to draw attention to the fact that you'd need to hold down+back+block in those games. All the same principles though so a great game to practice in. Jamie even looks like he has a fatality 😅
Oh I know he does, even Guile with his new super based on the trailer his Flash Kick super looks like he might as well be performing a fatality with how brutal it is lol.
I'm taking notes 📝
Can't wait to play you in ranked for the first 24 hours before you sail past me 🥲
@@WireManFGC Not with you holding all this info! Looking forward to the next one 👀
*snorts huge amounts of SF6 content* 🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠 … so excited for this game
They're saying all the right things so far, 2023 feels so far away haha
@@WireManFGC let’s hope the release is January/ February !
Holy shit, why isn't every fighting game guide so like, to the point? New to defence on this game, feel like this is going to help heaps as that's the part of the game I'm really struggling with. Cheers!
Thanks, I've also made a full set of character guides over on the "That Blasted Salami" channel that may interest you 🙂
@@WireManFGC Oh hey, I remember seeing your Tekken overviews ages back. Prefer Virtua Fighter though so I'll check it out, cheers!
I just stumbled upon your channel and there is so much valuable content it's crazy! I appreciate it as a newish player finally deciding to play this competitively. Subbed.
That's great to hear! Sorry there's been a bit of the gap since the last vid - I've been collaborating with That Blasted Salami and putting some VF tutorial vids on their channel, but there'll be some more on here soon!
Beautiful video.
Thankyou so much!
I always get my butt handed to me. Such a simple game. P,K,G endless combinations! I hope VF6 will make it’s way to the home entertainment systems. 👍🏻
@@CouncilEstatePopMusic it feels like a good time for a new sequel! Fingers crossed!
They need to return everyone's DM Attacks, and all the other attacks in general.
I really enjoyed them! It felt like a direct reward for correctly evading. I understand the change though. VF5FS/US is much more about being rewarded with an opportunity, not something that directly takes a chunk off the lifebar, and both have their merits.
haha, I was really curious how you were going to cover multi throw escapes. Good vid.
Haha Hope it wasn't too much of a cop-out! I'm very impressed by how much of it DOES translate to VF5US. It's such a well made tutorial mode that earnestly wants to make you better at fighting games and I think that means they spend more time talking about concepts, rather than really specific mechanics like the MTE. There's a few others that don't fully map coming up in the next couple of episodes that I'm trying to lab around right now 🙂
O hey das me!
Big fan, big fan 😉
Hi I'm Seth and I'm making a smash bros like fighting game called xenomon.
I don't typically throw but sometimes I need my homies to be in the bracket further than me and then we share the pot. That's when most people that throw do so.

Great video!
Thanks!
Missed this voice, missed this kinda discussion, ultimately, I’ve missed you 🥺 Lovely video 🙂
Thankyou! Once I've got some more VF stuff out, there's some more BUTTs on the way 😄
1:11 hi youtube :)
!!! How did you know!? XD
i miss when BUTT was edited live :)
They will return, promise!
Great video, I love BUTT talk. I just wish that fighting games were more about zoning again instead of rushdown. unsubbed and disliked, keep it up
Extremely insightful and well structured. I feel that all the points brought up in this video are things that a lot people often intuit but struggle to explain in detail (which is cause for a lot of the dysfunctional discourse about the topic). You put everything so clearly, accurately, and, constructively. Great vid. (Also, the format with Akira basically giving a presentation is fun lol.)
Thanks! I like the BUTT series, but it's really tricky to talk about some of these topics without adding fuel to the fire, so a lot of them stay on the drawing board 😄 Hopefully this illustrates that you can make a good community out of either. I've been really impressed with communities like Saltmine, The Online Local and Ronin Rumble in the past few years showing that geography doesn't have to be part of your scene's identity.
Thanks
Hope it was useful :)
A big ask for sure: if at some point you would consider making a counter video where you highlight 1 to 2 strings or strategies to watch out for against X character, that would be great. Getting character-specific in which hits of a string you block or evade (and which direction)…obviously a lot of work, but it would be marvelous to hear you apply this particular A to Z vid to each character. Huge ask, though. Either way, thanks for another great video!!
Thanks for the suggestion! I have this series and another secret project on the burners at the moment, but this is a great idea. I've shared it with some other VF content creators and it straight away sparked some good conversations, so thankyou. Hopefully someone picks it up and makes a video on it, or we all collab on it 🙂
Thanks for the info!
Always a pleasure! Hope this series gets more people into the VF dojo 😁
Thanks!
Why did Sega remove the evade attack and made rising attacks safe on block?
A great question. With VF3TB getting a resurgence recently thanks to flycast, perhaps the 4Evo/4FT era will be next. I know there's a lot of people that miss how VF played back then!
A question for you sir, How come VF4E and even VF4 still look good and are fully playable around 20 years old ? There are even certain animations that look tons better and smoother than anything produced nowadays and I won't speak about the arcade version because it looks phenomenal. I have been playing VF5 since release and jumped to FS and later US. The games are super responsive thanks to their on bullshit animations and realistic approach. Really, when I go on vacation, we have some premium times playing VF together and it just feels like awesome everytime. Back to your videos, thank you so much for them... don't be mad about lack of big hits, they will age so well and benefit many people who will eventually discover this hidden gem
Sorry for the late reply! I've seen interesting discussions about how the later iterations of 4 and 5 had much smaller development teams than their main, numbered release,, resulting in less design influence. There's historically a push/pull in older games between whether it'll be a game driven by design or technology and the balance (for me) in the games you mention actually feels pretty great, where both the design and tech meet at a point where it looks and feels great, but without sacrificing too much from a competitive standpoint. Sometimes constraints like that can be a good thing, I guess!
@@WireManFGC AM2 was really known for their technical strengths back in the day. With 4 and 5, they had to put on arcade boards that produced those amazing visuals while maintaining the technically excellent gameplay. I think having to focus only on the looks and gameplay vs bringing in tons of fillers (story mode, characters endings..etc) helped maintain a certain quality of it. I love the arcade vibes I get when I play the games... Hope they maintain these quality elements if they ever decide to do VF6.... which I'd love very much.
Are you by any chance related to the Wireman who used to stream?
I know them! They have something cool in the pipeline, promise!
Came here because Chief Flash mentioned how important foot position is during his stream last night 🤓 Thanks, Wireman - I figured you’ve have a useful video on it and wasn’t disappointed 🤓😁
Awesome! That's great to hear :D I've added another VirtuaFighterdotcom link to the description for you, that goes into more detail on some of this stuff if you're interested. Check out the "stance check" paragraphs in their positions wiki. If you've got a keen eye, you can confirm what stance they were in AFTER you've launched them if you didn't notice at the start of your combo. Really useful!
Thanks for this
Hope they're useful 🙂
