Hey, nice to hear! :) This is the first time I'm playing the game but it still evokes some nostalgic feelings in me too. Truly a cult classic.

Hey! The game is available on both PC and mobile. I'm playing on PC. If you worry about microtransactions; this game has them but in my experience it doesn't come across as intrusive.

Hey! I thought about getting them too but I don't think they give you anything in return other than completing each border of each painting, which to be fair is a bit unsatisfying to not do. What ultimately made me decide not to get them was that it's a bit of a hassle. In a lot of levels where lums are harder to get you kinda have to rescue most if not all teensies to get enough lums to get the gold cups, which would mean I'd have to find them all over again. I felt satisfied by ending my playthrough like this, even though some may not consider it "completed". But that to me is somewhat subjective.

Yep, but as you can see it doesn't run perfectly but it's still playable.

@@arabiwasabi Yeah I did an entire play through of the game on citra on my channel and it ran perfectly luckily. The only time it ever froze or stuttered was when it was caching a texture. Feel free to check it out if you’d like! 👍

With the little time I've had with the game thus far, it sure seems like it and it's far more charming than New Horizons in pretty much any aspect I can think of.

Just to clarify some things, the game running "bad" or "fine" has mostly to do with the shader load in and not so much actual performance. That's what confused me in the beginning because the game wasn't demanding at all to run, but thanks to @digitaldr5254 I learned about async which fixed the issue. So if you wonder if it's playable on your system, I bet it does and be sure to enable async, which is an option you can tick on in the graphics tab in the general settings after switching the Graphics API from OpenGL to Vulkan.

You're a lifesaver! The shader load-in was the only issue that I had with the game. Thank you so much for letting me know about async!

@@arabiwasabi also if you have your render distance or lod increased make sure to turn down fog I have mine at 30% the fog was used to hide the low lod and render distance on the console so it better to turn it down a little

@@digitaldr5254 Hey! Yeah I did tinker around with the LOD and fog settings behind the scenes but I couldn't find anything that looked that great. In retrospect I think it had to do with the clarity shading that I was using. But thanks again for the feedback, I'll give your recommended settings a shot :))

I think the texture pack is only meant to give the original GameCube textures a higher resolution as opposed to changing the lighting akin to that of the Wii U remaster. The only things i changed was the resolution, framerate and the HD texture pack. So you should be getting the same lighting results as me. But because you emulate on mobile you may be getting a slightly different result.

I’m pretty sure it works but I bet it would require quite the powerful phone for it to run properly

Hello to you! It was some time ago now that I made this video so I can only go off of what I can see in the video. But I hope the following can answer your question: The version looks to be [*5.0-16793*], but I'd recommend the latest update as the updates generally improve performance and such. Because it started to perform worse the more I played, I had to scale down on the settings. Hey, thanks! As you can see a little further in to the video (22:56) I do get some performace issues. But by tinkering with some settings in the Dolphin Emulator I made it run a smooth 60fps again. I had to scale back on my resolution to 1080p though, but it didn’t do too much of a visual difference. So the answer to your question: no, not any issues that I’m aware of. I think it all boils down to how well your system can handle it running at 60fps. At the same time, let’s not forget that emulation is convoluted and it doesn’t always favour the power of your system but how well optimised the game is for emulation.

By this old-fart of a game one would expect it to run better with this kind of hardware. But in all honesty is emulation performance is varying and sometimes kinda ass. lol. Anyway thanks for asking! :)

It is by no means the most powerful system out there, but it is powerful enough to play most modern games (excluding the very most recent) at well above 100s fps in high settings.

As far as I know, yes. I'm not very knowledgeable about modding on the GameCube but it has its technical limitations so I doubt this would work other than on PC.

@@olevet75 That's great to hear! I bought myself a series s at some point with emulation in mind but I never came around to it. It's surprising to hear that you can play on mobile devices, it's easy to forget that they too are getting more and more powerful, with enough power to play these games.

@@arabiwasabi I've got a series S set up for emulation via Dolphin, its very good but not perfect, there is still occasional frame-hitching and crashes occurring no matter what settings I apply. For example, recently Wind Waker would not start up. Keen to see if I can get this 60fps mod working as my VRR should clean up the hitches if I get the framerate up above 45.
