Hey there, My name is Damon, and I'm a ferroequinologist (or railfan for short) based off of Eastern Michigan, and I've been into this hobby for over 10 years now. I grew up and still mostly railfan in Genesee County, near the CN Flint and the CSX Saginaw Subdivisions, but I also do a lot of travelling to railfan (Frequent examples: the Metro Detroit area, Northwest Ohio, and much more!)
I also do try spreading positivity over the railfanning community entirely, Like, if you have known me for more than 5 minutes, one of my favorite things to do around the community is meeting up with people and making them laugh, lol
But that's what I like to do! So, if you're interested in that stuff too, stay tuned, and subscribe if you have some time!

A Surprisingly Active Night on The Lake State Railway Saginaw Sub North! (Santa Train, Y119 & Z145!)
(Featuring @RoyalKingOfTheRails, @southernmichiganrailfan9841, @hornalleyproductions and @GTW5951)
So this video is basically a compilation of bonus catches I've caught during the weekend I was out chasing the LSRC Santa train with the friends I was with (which are both somewhat featured in this video), since after me and my friends caught the first run of the Santa train in Mt. Morris and birch run, we also chased Y119 which had a really nice lashup, and when we went back down to Mt. Morris, we were also surprised with an as-needed Z145 sitting in the Mt. Morris Siding/Yard track, lead by a solo LHF SD50-2! And since this was probably the most trains this portion of the LSRC Saginaw sub has ever seen in a good while, why not upload them? So I guess with that said, I hope y'all enjoy this one
Date & Time: November 29th, 2024 From 8:30 PM To 10:30 PM (Roughly)
Subdivision: LSRC Saginaw (Between Flint & Saginaw)
Timestamps / Train Symbols:
0:00 Intro
0:39 LSRC P101 (Santa Train) Rolling From Mt. Morris To Birch Run, MI.
4:05 Chasing LSRC Y119 (w/ 2 Ex-NS Units) From South Bridgeport To Mt. Morris, MI.
11:47 LSRC Z145 Departing The Siding/Yard Track and Rolling Through Mt. Morris, MI.
18:48 Outro
Camera Used: Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra
And that should be it! Thanks for watching!

So to release a rather fitting video on Christmas Day (or night, for some of y'all), here's my big chase video that I made back on the 6th and 7th with a good group of guys, where we went up towards the general Northern area of Michigan and chased Lake State Railway's annual San...

Unfortunately, since Pere Marquette 1225 was suffering a superheater issue, she was out for the rest of he season...

(Featuring @josephtrainonthetrack and @southernmichiganrailfan9841) So on me and the boys' journey back from the Carolinas, we decided to stop in the historical town of Thurmond, West Virginia to railfan on the CSX New River sub, and to tour around the scenery and historical depot that was here, and while we were here we managed to snag a couple trains, including us seeing a pair of RJ Corman S...

So on this day on my way back from the Carolina's, me and the boys decided to stop for a bit in Thurmond West Virginia, which was a rather iconic spot I've been wanting to check out for a while, and in this small town there was a railroad crossing that I wanted to tour since it had some interesting elements to it as well, and what was here was this historic depot that still gets amtrak traffic ...

So coming up on day 3 of my south trip, here's the crossing I decided to tour when I went towards the Greer area with my friends (and I believe this is the last crossing tour I made for my marathon sub-series for this trip, though I wanted to tour more but at this point it was getting a little ridiculous lol). And this one is a neat one, located on the NS Charlotte district, and though it sadly...
Greenville Street Abandoned Railroad Crossing Tour, Saluda, NC. (NS Saluda Grade)

So here it is folks, me touring the rather infamous equipment-crossing of the NS Saluda Grade, which was once the steepest grade to ever be on a class I mainline , which the line was abandoned back in 2001. Now as said, this crossing here in downtown Saluda was the only crossing on this entire line that had actual equipment, and while I was still on vacation down south, I decided to tour up nor...

What a day.
Darn it, I missed your Stream, as I didn’t know that you were streaming today! I hope to join your next one, whenever you stream again.
That was an awesome night! Talk about luck! Lol
Nice catches. I recently did the NS Danville district in the Salisbury and Linwood areas back in October and funny how you mention Durand. The Danville District really reminded me of the CN Flint Sub in traffic volumes as well. But with just how beautiful and gorgeous North Carolina is, I'd rather be down south than anywhere in the north this time of year lol
The engineer playing Jingle Bells on the horn reminds me when my uncle was an engineer for Canadian National and would play it on the horn at Christmas time to let my family know he was coming through the neighborhood since the house I grew up in was near the line he worked on, until one of the neighbors was a party pooper and complained to the railroad about my uncle for playing music on the horn as he’d also do Shave and get a Haircut.
That’s A Rare catch BC Rail heritage unit on CSX B241 Never seen that before?
There is a thunderbolt 1000T down the street on the other side of the tracks
Once the Huron sub gets the welded rail and rest of the track upgrades up to par I'm pretty sure it will run up to Alpena in the future.
Nice meeting you I was the kid with the tripod
Here is a request for part 11 the Florence Avenue railroad crossing in Fresno California
It is abandoned
I love 12R!
Thank God, you didn’t move, because Michigan is probably one of the best states to fan, and I live in Trenton mi
I worked on that GP38 she's a beast
Country club road was owned by DGSO
Cool catches
I like the trailing 4829 brand new AC44A6M
Yessir this is my favorite NS ES44AC heritage unit 8102 because I love the horn and the paint scheme
Nice video Damon this is the same video from your channel intro before you start a video by the way my favorite NS ES44AC heritage unit is the Pennsylvania
Nice video Damon the Virginian heritage unit is my favorite heritage unit out of all railroads because of its clean horn
Wow those are some historical engines Fph units to the GP’S nice video Damon and nice hornshow jingle bells from the Fph unit
Nice crossing tour I’ve been to Naperville Illinois before can you do a crossing tour there it has some good BNSF action
Can you tour G Street or Main Street in brawley CA on Google maps? It has some very old griswold gates. Line was owned by SP and yes the crossings still exist
Curious question for you, & for anybody else watching this Video of yours here, what is the difference between WCH 2ND Gen. LEDs & EV-Leotek Series LEDs? 🤔
wow thats so cool i like the videos
Just filmed this crossing a few days before you went there!
Gonna miss this trip so muchhhh
I just found out about your channel, and I like your content. Keep up the good work. - Cali-Railway.
@Cali-Railway thx. Glad you're enjoying the vids
On my old turf 👀
8:32 bro actually put that in the video😂
@Southern_RailFilms yeah, you can see i had a big decision of keeping the goofy stuff in the end or removing it, and you can clearly see i said screw it, I'm keeping that in for the funni at the end lol
@ epicccc
I’m pretty sure that on Paterson st you viewed and active railroad crossing because I think the crossings and the tracks are in good shape. And I’m definitely 100% sure that there is an abandoned crossing down the street.
sick catches love the videos keep doing it
@@Cnrailfan-o2r Thx
16:22 😎
Sad how this line is officially abandoned now! Glad you were able to document these crossings!
I beleave that yellow green signal is called an aproach medium in csx rule book.
@barefoot3662 Like you said, that is correct in CSX terms, but on NS it could mean approach diverging, which is just the specific name for what the signal aspect means (i.e to diverge onto a crossover or wye at a medium speed), so therefore, it just means the same thing, just a different name. Your correction would be like calling an advance approach aspect (flashing yellow or yellow over yellow) an advance clear to stop, which is what it's called in CN's rulebook
5:17 I think he said “Train!!!”
whenyou get back from north carolina can you tour morrish road in swartz ceek
28:35 thank you so much for doing my request. I forgot to provide any information lol this was owned by CN and was abandoned in 2013 originally used by Trillium. this line is the CN Cayuga subdivision used by G.I.O now most of this line is actually active so another request. Can you do a Crossing in Cortland Ontario specifically Highway 59 Crossing I would appreciate it. Thank you.
Nice bro
Correct yellow over green is approach medium
When was the last train on this line??
We believe it was the southbound NS W77 in December 2001.
Closed sometime between July 2014 and September 2017, grade was torn up sometime between august 2018 and august 2019.
Imagine being a light and haven't been on for 20 years
You should’ve toured the abandoned railroad crossings that are in Piedmont, i would’ve gladly told you exactly where the autoracks were before NS moved them
@@csxtrainfan319 I was definitely thinking about that while i was there, but Piedmont was a bit too far out of the way of the places I was originally planning
The other crossing is the CSX Florence Division Belton Subdivision. It is the former Piedmont and Northern Railway line between Greenwood, SC and Spartanburg but only operates between Belton, SC and Spartanburg now days.
Isn’t that abandoned? Or am I thinking about different line
@csxtrainfan319 Its not, I ended up catching a train on that line sometime after this video, but the only known train to roll through that line is CSX L799
Thanks GCR, I must’ve been thinking about line in Honea Path
@@csxtrainfan319 Spartanburg to Pelzer is operated by CSX. CSX trains L799 operates Spartanburg to Greenville and return during the day daily except Saturday, L659 operates Greenville to Pelzer in the evenings, unit ethanol trains once used this line. Pelzer to Belton is operated by shortline Greenville and Western Railroad, they interchange with the Pickens Railroad south of downtown Belton. Several miles south of Belton the line is abandoned through Honea Path to Greenwood.
@@csxtrainfan319I believe Pickens once in a while throws cars in storage at Honea Path. There’s also that graveyard of old locomotives near Honea Path too.
NS always uses the low pitch safetran type 3 ebell
Lights be looking at heaven
An impressive railway crossing
tbh the new pain scheme doesnt look that bad. it resembles the nyc pretty good. maybe if they added more things onto the locomotive it would be better, as its just a simple blue and white paint scheme
I've got footage of the crossing just down the road being activated. The one at Land Grant Rd. Used to be just crossbucks there, but they installed lights and gates not too long ago
