Will Metz Academy - Student Interview - Brian's experience
Переглядів 2835 місяців тому
After only a month of the Academy opening, it's a blessing to see that my students are getting so much value from it.... 🙏 Brian decided to join us after years of scrambling in music theory not knowing where to go next. Meanwhile, he had a dream of taking is guitar playing to the next level. In this video, you will learn how the Academy allowed him to finally get out of his rut and find the ans...
Student Interview - How Music Theory allows efficient PRACTICE
Переглядів 2026 місяців тому
Yet another story of a student finally becoming able to learning understand theory and navigate the fretboard. In this video, you will hear Apryl emphasize how this new knowledge allowed her to develop meaningful practice routines. She knows what to practice, how, how much, etc… Think about this… wherever you are on your guitar journey, you are only a specific number of practices away from your...
Student Interview - Why YOU NEED to learn Music Theory as a Guitarist
Переглядів 1976 місяців тому
“Even if they didn’t know music theory, if YOU want to understand the guitarists you look up to, YOU need to learn theory ” Jason was definitely reluctant to learn theory for many years because of the following reasons: - He thought it would hurt his sound and creativity - He was afraid it would be obscure and useless in practice - He thought it would take 10 years to really understand… 6 month...
Student Interview - How the Will Metz Academy Method "Changed Jason's Life" on Guitar
Переглядів 2826 місяців тому
“This guitar course absolutely changed my life...” When I realized I could help guitarists with their understanding of music theory and how to navigate their fretboard, I quickly realized I had the potential to impact people with my method. But even though it became more and more irrefutable that I was able to help guitarists, I never thought that my impact would literally “change their lives” ...
From NO KNOWLEDGE of Theory to FULL UNDERSTANDING - Evan's Transformation
Переглядів 3559 місяців тому
Evan came to me with one question: WHY? He wanted to understand what he had been playing for 30 years without looking to get answers. Like many guitarists, he stayed idle due to a combination of a busy life and hearing over and over again that he didn’t need theory or music education. Finally, he had enough. And in 5 months, using my method, he now knows everything he will ever need to know AND...
MAKING SENSE of chord progression and how to IMPROVISE OVER THEM
Переглядів 27 тис.9 місяців тому
Guitarists love to improvise but often have trouble knowing what scale/mode they need to use in a given context. “Should I use the major pentatonic scale? The minor pentatonic? Where do I use modes? Is the first chord the key?” Etc. Before I really understood theory, I remember being always confused by chord progressions… So I would simply use my ear to slowly find a scale that seemed to work. ...

Just wanted to say thank you! You go far above and beyond. At 34:20 you mention the E as the 1 of the A chord. I know you meant 5. Swear I’m not being a turd, I just noticed it. I see how hard you strive for excellence. Can’t imagine the time these videos take. Keep on being you! Thanks again.

I am tring to learn at age 64 , I can relate to what you said about wanting to know how the theory works and wanting to know how the guitar fret board works, and that we can get a more satisfying enjoyment with the knowledge. For me the understanding of how things work can make you more confident in using such things, I think, its the same with my car, bike, ....... So Thanks for the long and thorough chat...🙂👍

Thank you for this video. I vave seen hours of videos where they did't explain it the way I would undersrand the point of it. They always say it "allows you to play on whole fretboars" but they didn't really showed how you naviget to that place. You explain it really intuitively.

In all my years of playing and singing, I never played lead, we usually had a "hired gun" or a great player. Now I'm old and all my guys are dead or disappeared. Recently I've met some new (old folks) and realized I'm the last guy standing but not dead yet! I'm working really hard on this pentatonic stuff .. Anyone like Freddie or Albert King or BB King? . Trouble is I'm a white guy. Stevie Ray said I'm really a black guy in a white body. R.I.P. Stevie Ray.

48 minutes into this video you start teaching. Setting the scene should not take 48 minutes. You sold me on the importance of using the correct sort of memory for instant recall and how useful fretboard memorization is for guitarists in the first few minutes. Great video as always but an hour long video on one simple subject will frustrate watchers and drive all but your most ardent fans away imho. I left this running while the waffle happened and tuned in just before the end. Sorry, you are a great, natural teacher so maybe; review videos from the watcher's perspective and learn to edit seamlessly? Will allow much faster uploads. :) 👍
