Ryan's 2023 Hunting Set Up!! // Might be the best set up in the shop!
The best my set up has shot in six years is when you guys set it up, thanks!
My bowtech soldier has the knock point at least an inch above center, if it is at center of each cam it will not clear the shelf, is this an issue, it seems like it would affect the flight?
Typically we will recommend the arrow to be going through the center of the Berger hole on the shelf side of the bow. Sometimes, if you measure between each axle and put the loop in the middle you will run into the problem that you are having. I would put it back to the Berger hole and expect better flight. Thank you! Hope this helps!
@straight6archery53 thanks for the reply thats where I am at now and trying some changes with higher front of center and stiffer arrows, still lots to do to get dialed in!
i have a tensionning clamp on mine but after every 10-15 arrows i have to re-tight it. any guess on what i could do to keep it tight?
@@AlexandreHebert-t1d yes absolutely! You can tie a slip knot on that cord first, and then install the clamp after that. That’s double security
Great info.
Awesome video.
Thanks a million. The best, hands down cam timing video on You Tube. I'm relatively new to Hoyt having been a Matthews guy prior. Now if I cam prefect the cam lean issue I be cooking on high heat.
@@harveyrousejr.2069 that’s awesome thank you so much! If you need any help, just give us a call at the shop! We can walk you through can lean no problem.
I have a shorter draw length and I think this is my next bow. Thanks for the video
So out of curiosity, what can throw cam timing off?
@@jrlovell3 normal string stretch is the biggest component to cam timing being off! Just shooting your bow will stretch the strings where you would want to check timing about 1-2 times a year (depending on how much you shoot)
What black eagles would you recommend for wild hogs ?65dw 28 dl
I’m definitely going to check it out
Hard to tell with the background music smh
Finally someone showed the sight in details.. Excellent instructional. thank u!
@@KenBaning-nl6dw thank you so much for watching! And the kind words!
Great video! Do you guys stock Easton Bully vanes?
Great video! Simple, accurate, and easy to understand. Thanks!
I shoot prime. But not for speed. That draw cycle is like butter! And about the 1 bow maker that iv never heard of any major issues (granted the limited history) plus free strings and cables every 2 years!
All i can think about is a her bow string catching the nose ring on a shot ....
I’m confused, my new 29.5 lift at these exact specs 29” draw 70lbs with a 480g arrow is only hitting 282 fps and that’s how fast your 500g is. I’m at 85% let off on my mods, wonder if these one were the 80%? I love this bow so far!
Hmmm I wonder if it's just a difference in each chronograph? It could be that for sure. We did test this bow at 85% so it should be the same as yours! Glad your enjoying it! They are sweet bows
I wouldn't say it's recommended but I put and extra 1/2 turn on my carbon one. 74 lb draw 444 grain arrow and its 299-301 fps. Is the new version easier to stabilize with the extra 3" ata? I was worried about shooting a 30 at range but it does well way farther than I would shoot at game.
I can't agree on the string angle at full draw comment. That's the only reason I went with the Mathews Lift 33. The Alpha X 33 string angle at my DL, 31", was not comfortable at all. I couldn't get comfortable with it unfortunately.
Keep making these videos, im trying to step up my game with my bow this year, im tired of other people working on my bows
Is clockwise right?
Which part of the video are you referring to?
Gr8 bow🏹🏆👑
Lets do a sound test but have useless noise of my truck in the back-round ...
I own a few Mathews bows and will ever sell them ...but 321 ft/sec for a 380grain arrow is SLOW...esp on a bow costing $2k ...no thanks ill keep my Monster XLR8
I'm not a big dude, I'm 5'8". But if your slender you can definitely fit 2 people in it since I normally keep my bow and pack in it next to me. Best part about this tent is when you tie it down good it doesnt flap at all. So when you hear something at night you know its something and not just your tent making noise.
Thanks for the video, the sign of a good teacher/instructor. is to keep it understandable to the average person some people like to talk over your head to make it sound like its magic. RTQ
Awesome video, just learned something new. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I'm about to buy a phase 4 but I'm going to have to start with accessories from my cheap diamond edge max for now and I'll add Mathews accessories here and there as I can afford it.
Thanks for the video! I just bought the Kairos yesterday. Where was the arrow in relation to the Berger hole when you set it up?
Thank you for watching! We always have the arrow running right through the middle of the Berger hole on most bows. It’s basically in the center of all geometry
Is it neccessary to have the LCA limb lock kit to press the Mach 34?
Definitely reccomend. They are slightly past parallel and you run the risk of that slipping out of a press if your not careful. Either that, or screw the press arms all the way in. Hope this helps! Have an awesome day!
If your left handed don’t waste your money unless you want a up side down right handed
Honestly, we couldn’t agree more. They need to figure that out but I’m positive they will!
@@straight6archery53 Do you have true left handed hunting sights you can recommend?
@@charlie8796 absolutely. We carry Black Gold, Spot Hogg, Option Archery, and our personal fav in the Landslyde from Axcel. All have amazing features and will out perform other sights on the market 🤘🏼🤘🏼
My 70# Limbs are weighing at 69lbs and my bottom cam is hitting about 3/4 faster than my top. What string would I twist for that ? 😮 I’ve been in a tuning nightmare for my first now 😔
It’s A VTM 34 with the HBX cams
Did you watch the video? His bottom cam was hitting first. His bow was 71lbs so he took twists out of the top cam.. Below lbage add twists to bottom
@@sarcazmo yes I watched the video… i can still ask a question to make sure. And I fixed my cam timing. I bought a press/draw board, vise and just started working on my bows. Only been into archery for 8months or so. Asking questions is normal bro.
@@disposable_hero2748 right… but he answered the question in the video. Why ask a question that’s already been answered
@@sarcazmoexcept my bow’sowner manual instructed me to twist different cable, so not I wasn’t the answer. Idk why ur so invested in a question I had a month ago that I’ve found the solution too already 😅
ONNEX Clicker! Love that (my) release.
Trash the football clip and use a friction knot instead. No tools, no hardware, no problem.
My big loaded money question is, when is archery gonna run out of ideas to keep archery going
You just made this very clear to me, thank you nice video!!!
AW Thank you so much! Glad to hear it helped! More to come as always and thank you for watching! - Casey
Good day Where or under what code can I order a 75-85% letoff stop?
I'm positive we can order them for you if you need? Do you have a Prime dealer in your area? -Casey
Can you bolt a picatinny onto that bright sight ?
You can with a little ingenuity hahaha We used one of the old RX-4/5 Pic rail mounts that were the 2 piece. The one piece bolted right through the riser which we used on the brite site leveler to do pic rails. If you can’t find one let us know! We have some extras we can mail you
Picked one up earlier today, I was super hyped. ( Quick note I use the rx7 ) First off, I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong because the entire stand kept pivoting, and I had the locking screw and couldn’t figure out where it went. Upon watching your video I figured out that the locking screw only works with the Rx8, since the Rx7 doesn’t have the hole for it. I was pretty disappointed since you can’t find ANYWHERE that the locking screw doesn't work the Rx7 and earlier models. Honestly considered taking it back, since without tightening it as hard as possible the entire stand will pivot, and even when doing that even in just the day I’ve owned it, I’d still find the stand coming loose and pivoting. On top of that, I just have the factory stubby bottom stabilizer so I can’t use the stand in a way that keeps the kam’s out of the dirt, without buying a bottom stabilizer. So all that considered, it’s pretty hard to justify the $140 price tag for any Rx7 owners. Please give me any tips to stop this stand from coming loose and pivoting.
Man I’m sorry to hear that!!! I totally agree though, it’s frustrating with that design flaw. I guess not a flaw however it forces you into a new bow 😂 Without a locking washer on the backside of the mount I’m not sure how else it will work. If you bought it from us we’d love to exchange for store credit or a refund! Let us know if we can help you! Good luck!
@@straight6archery53 Thanks for actually replying! I didn’t buy it from you guys, but thanks.
@@Zayzanater you got it! Thanks for watching!
Great video. Appreciate the education
Thank you!!! More to come in the future!
why not setup the sight axis with the sight is bolted on the bow?
You can do that for sure, but this is much more precise. You can always double check it when it’s mounted on the bow
How much do the go stix weigh?
Just weighed one out of the package and it’s in between 5-6oz with the screws 🙌🏼 Super lightweight, you won’t even feel em
Awesome yea the ones I'm using now weigh 4 oz so 1.5 oz more won't be a big deal appreciate your time with that now I know what I'm getting for my birthday
What sight are you using? And any specifics.
That is the Axcel landslyde head with the Mathews bridgelock bar attachment in this video. It allows us to keep the sight closer to the riser for better balance! 💪🏼 The Axcel is our favorite dial sight by far, with spot hogg being a close second
@@straight6archery53 Are you using 3 horizontal pins as well as the sliding adjustable dimmer for the pins?
@@josephfolsom2030 that specific head was the 5 horizontal pin with the dial. We are typically using the bottom pin as our rover for our tape indicator! 👍🏼
@@josephfolsom2030 and yes, we are using the shade over the pins during the mid day
@@straight6archery53 I have been using the Spott Hogg Fast Eddie XL Triple stack on my Phase 4 29. It weighs right at 15oz. Shot the Lift 33 a few times this week and really like how it holds. My son had gifted my Phase 4 to me last July. Have the 33 Lift on order and want to keep it light and balanced. I’ll probably go with 3 horizontal pins. Did you order your Landslide with the Mathews Bridgelock bar or separately? I know they make one with the longer dovetail bar. I really like your setup. I’m only shooting 55 lbs due to a detached rotor cuff on my drawing arm. 29.5 draw length so I really don’t how far out I’ll be able to shoot without hitting the sight with my arrow at it longest setting. 436 grn. arrow
Simple yet very informative. Thanks!
Thank you so much! Really appreciate that
Would the tripod position work with a 10 inch stabilizer? I saw they recommend 6-8” how would the 10 inch affect the height off the ground ?
Oh for sure it will work with a 10” stab 🙌🏼 It will just change the pitch if the bow which isn’t a big deal at all
I finally found a left handed 33 in stock and was able to shoot it a bit. I decided to pick it up, spend some time with it, and wanted to report out my real world findings. To be honest, I was very skeptical about this bow when I first saw the release of it. When I first inspected one in person, my skepticism grew. You can literally grab the cam and bend it around in all directions (of course with the bow at brace) as the limbs are so skinny they just flex like crazy. I was worried about that from a durability standpoint. I was also worried about the cams being very, very skeletonized. They seem like they would be easy to bend, etc. Those were some initial observations before I got to shoot one. I got to shoot one and my first reaction was 1) the draw cycle is very linear, just stiff 2) there is no valley (even at 85%) 3) the vibe/shock after the shot is more than the Phase 4 and 4) the riser length adds to stability significantly 5) something different in the grip where your thumb fits is improved. I shot it with both C and D draw length mods and landed on taking it home with the C mod. I bought the bow and took it home (we do our own set up and tuning at home)...... Set up was easy. With a center shot rest we had a perfect bullet hole with ZERO top hat changes or any other changes. The Match strings are an improvement over the Zebra, not sure how much of an improvement but they are better. They are thinner and they did settle very quickly and my peep locked in. So I just started shooting it for a few days. The bow has a very clean shot cycle, very clean release. With it all set up, the vibe/shock was mostly gone. I got used to the draw cycle being stiff. I never did like the lack of a valley. My style of shooting my hinge is to relax/elongate the palm of my hand and that style does not work well with a bow with no valley. As I shot it, I realized the C mod was making me feel a bit long. I was not stable at full draw and could feel being a bit overextended. My shop still had the D mods, so I switched to them and now I was too short, feeling scrunched up. When I am scrunched up, I have hand torque. For me, having the draw length perfect is a huge issue, as I finally found out how well I shoot when my draw length is spot on. It matters hugely! So, sadly, I am caught between a D and C on this new Mathews cam and not comfortable at either. Note on the previous Mathews cam the D mod worked well for me). Yes, could I twist strings and/or remove the grip and/or fiddle with D loop length or even my release neck length (different releases) - yes I could do all of that to try and get the Lift 33 to fit my draw length. Since I have other bows I shoot well, I did not want to put that level of effort into the Lift, so I sold it/traded it. As long as Mathews runs this newest cam with the 1/2" draw length limits, I am probably out of luck with Mathews. Conclusion, while I can't speak to the long term durability of the bow/cams, if your draw length fits one of the draw mods and if you are OK with no valley, this bow could be a great choice for you. Thank you.
I always wondered how that worked!
Now you know brotha! Thank you so much for watching!
