It's wonderful description of Americans who cannot see anything outside their boring, useless, car dependent suburbs. In Europe and Asia people are having families in a city, kids share bedrooms and guess what? Thet don't have psychiatric issues because of it!!!! People walk their dogs, yes walk their dogs and clean afterwards. I assure you there is a fascinating world beyond boring, car dependent and deprived of all amenities suburbs.

Ive had no problem keeping my cool status AND being a great mom at the same time! Some of you ladies seem to think its one or the other. You're either selling yourselves short in life or you were never cool or fun to begin with.

To me with children and dogs, a spacious backyard would make better sense than having them play on a rooftop in the city. As the children get bigger and more active, they’re going to wish for more space to frolic and play, plus, like the man said, having a neighborhood feel with kids to play with would be an added bonus. There are many great suburbs in Chicago where they could get an absolute beautiful house and spacious backyard in that $800,000 price range.
