    Its quite different from my trip last year, we much prefer land from osaka, going to budget hotel near shin imamura station which is practicall a hub that can take you to area around osaka from kobe, kyoto and nara so we make our homebase there for roughly 5 days. In the last day we spent our day fully at USJ, and depart to tokyo ,but its not common departure , we planned it as another trip to tokyo through mountains of murodo (to saw snow specifically). So that afternoon after USJ visits ,we reserved bus ticket to toyama, we took the last bus depart from USj station at 9 pm, we fully rest inside the bus that night (its very comfortable bus), and arrived at toyama around 5.30am. we then go to Tateyama with the 1st train that morning,before depart with vertical train that took us to bus station for murodo. We then get down from mountain toyama in the afternoon to Nagoya(the view also awesome because we past inside the mountain through the tunnel that brought us to a big dam ). From nagoya we depart to tokyo via bullet train and arrive in the night at our homestay around Nippori that we make as homebase for our journey around tokyo for a week.

    Why only 7-11 ?

    • @Biggiejohn
      @Biggiejohn Місяць тому

      I believe it's because of exchange rates. I'm hearing it's better to not get most of your money at the airport. People are saying get like 50 usd worth max at the airport and then find somewhere in town for better rates.

    • @theengineer1designerlife
      @theengineer1designerlife Місяць тому

      Seven Bank (ATMs) owns 7-11 and you will come across 7-11 everywhere in Tokyo and across Japan. They charged a very reasonable withdraw fee of 220 Y (1.43 USD) for the maximum withdraw of 100,000 Y (651.25 USD). The exchange rate is set by your bank at home. Our bank is Charles Schwab and the rate is always higher than most "Money Exhange Kiosk" you come across in Tokyo if you are carrying "CASH". Moreover, Charles Schwab reimburses all ATM fees at the end of each month. If you are Americans, this is the bank for you (watch our earlier video). In short to minimize cost, when we are in Japan, we paired Charles Schwab with Seven Bank and when we are in Vietnam the pair is Charles Schwab and Agribank.

      Not quite understand your question, but from United States perspective, Charles Schwab debit card is the best solution. The exchange rate is decent and the bank reimburses ATM withdrawal fee.

    Do you have a VN mobile # and a US number as well? I heard it is more convenience to take care of local needs with a VN # and keep the US number for dual verifications needed nowadays for US transactions/banking.

    At the cashier booth you can clearly see the stupidity of the people. They come, jostle and shove in the line and therefore make the situation even more chaototic. How much sense does this behaviour make? Do they think the ferry will leave without them? The ferry transports all of them at the same time. Absolutely no need for this asocial pushes.

    I have been renting bikes to ride around Southern Vietnam for 2 years. Actually... most expats and foreigners only know about renting bikes in Q1 and Thao Dien area and the bikes are.... above market prices because they cater to foreigners but to give credit, the bikes are in better condition, come in wide variety from automatics to manuals but still the prices are way above what locals are paying but to foreigners, they always think oh.. its just XX USD so affordable! That's a myth that has yet to be busted. I don't really want to bust this myth though. There are many rental shops outside the tourist areas that cater mainly to locals but (most shops do have staff that do speak comprehensible English) and the bike range is confined mostly to Air blades and the common semis and they are.. generally well-maintained.. according to "local standards". Another factor is they tend to close during the Tet Period so if foreigners come visit during holiday periods, they probably have to pay extra to rent the bikes in the tourist/expat areas. If you are a regular visitor and have time to spare and not fussy with showing off riding a premium bike like the XR, XSR, CB etc, you can really rent a reliable Honda Wave RSX or even the Honda Future which is considered a upper tier semi in VN or other commonly used bikes at a much more economical rate. End of the day, the bikes at Q1 & Thao Dien are generally well-serviced (most of the time) HOWEVER... I do agree on the guillibility part mentioned in the video. Some of them have become complacent and because many foreigners like to post on UA-cam these days to brag oh.. its just XX USD for a banh mi / Pho, the cycle keeps going and prices are jacked up.

    I red most bikes in Vietnam are below 135CC, does it mean its hard to rent 150-160CC that are common in Indonesia.

    • @theengineer1designerlife
      @theengineer1designerlife 11 місяців тому

      This fact is no longer true as Vietnam is slowly and surely is getting out of poverty. I would say 50% of the population owns small engines scooters (below 125CC). The remaining 50% uses 125CC - 150CC bikes. Hence, you will find plenty of 150CC bikes. As long as you are willing to pay a little more!

      @@kimpham5508 Howdy neighbor, I made that decision 8 years ago and it is one of the best decision I have made since college. Kim, make sure you are financially prepared for the "SHINNY OBJECT" and prepare for the highs and lows of international travel!

      Jude...absolutely, you can apply for the Cambodian visa at "Moc Bai" border. I believe it is 35 USD to apply. Bring at an additional 10 USD "Funny Money" for the Cambodian Immigration Officer (don't forget Visa Photos)...good luck!

    Wow, your clip is really biased. I'm Thai. Glad you like Vietnam, but it's very strange. 5 things you quoted. Do you know for yourself or think for yourself? 'Cause I heard it, it's funny, don't tell anyone. He will laugh at you. Goodbye.
