Mountain adventures, mostly in the Canadian Rockies. Climbing (rock, ice, alpine), mountaineering, backcountry snowboarding/splitboarding, and more.
Unsuspecting hiker barely escapes massive avalanche (sound on)
On my way back down to Lake Louise from an ascent of Mt. Lefroy May 14, 2021 I noticed this hiker crossing under a very large avalanche path, and then witnessed the scary close call that followed.

Kain Face Via the Patterson Spur, July 14-15, 2018 Do not attempt glacier travel unroped (or climb solo for that matter) unless you are 100% sure of your ability, the conditions, and you fully understand the consequences of what you're getting into. I had extremely fortunate travel conditions, took my time probing every step when on glacier, and was completely comfortable with all the terrain I...

Via SW Face, June 11, 2019 Just needed one last snow mission before accepting that the season is over... ! From Moraine Lake an hour of dry hiking got me to snow beneath the south side of the peak. Skinned up the lower third of the face, bootpacking was required for the remaining 700m or so to the summit. Overall angle isn't very steep (less than 40 for most of it) but there are a few chokes th...
Incredible video!
Absolutely Incredible video and accomplishment!!!
Hey man awesome video. This ascent is a dream of mine. What brown OR pants are you wearing? Thanks!
Nice work, Brett! (Met you & Chad with Devan on Alberta last season) Great post! Cheers!
Good edit 😊
A two-day, one-night solo ascent of Robson?...pretty freaking-seriously hard core. Excellent video, great climb, terrific accomplishment. Big congratulations!
Love this video. Congrats on the climb.
Wow! That was amazing. honestly I’m blown away. Thanks for sharing.
Man you didn't climb the mountain the mountain had to mount your massive balls!
All I can say is Wow ! Way out of my comfort zone but thanks for taking me along for the climb
Brett, you and I gotta get out climbing again!
Looks like you found an ankle biter at 1:48. Pretty scary to be finding those unroped!
Impressive man! How did you descend safely after soloing it?
I just want to know how he got the wheelbarrow that he pushes his giant balls around in up that mountain alone. That is one heck of a solo, man.
So impressive!
You have balls of steel my dude, you must have a ton of experience to be chill doing this. Congrats on a sick ascent!
The guy is an absolute hero eh?
Thanks Brandon, I had the necessary experience and fitness, but more than anything else I had exceptionally good conditions on the mountain- I am no hero!
@@brettbilon5699 I don't mean to detract from your accomplishment by suggesting that "you're just different" I'm just in awe is all. Keep it up man
@@tyresseWilliams81 all comments are welcome here! Thanks for your kind words, whether I deserved them or not, and wishing you success in the mountains-
This is one of my favorite climbing videos!!
This was a great video and awesome achievement, this mountain is on my list someday, that's a lot of gain and some pretty gnarly zones 😀 how would you compare this to say the cascades such as Rainier?it's obviously wayyy more technical, how did you minimize danger on the glacier being solo?nice work!!!
Thanks for committing! I’ve never climbed in the cascades so can’t give you any comparison unfortunately, but for glacier I’ve found that it’s 90% about the conditions and route selection and 10% making sure you’re probing constantly & deep.
You’re an animal.
That’s really cool, Legendary shit bro
Great video and congrats on the summit! On my bucket list!!
Such ideal conditions on the Kain Face
I was very lucky indeed
awesome job, view at 4.55 is just breathtaking
Wow man good job!
You’re an absolute beast! I just watched The Alpinist on Marc Andre and bro you are an elite climber yourself! Wow 🔥🔥🔥🔥.
Glad you liked the video! I'm nowhere even remotely close to the levels of talent or ability of climbers like Marc Andre though-
Teach me your ways, master
Amazing accomplishment. You had incredible weather too! Just about every time I drive past the peak is in the clouds!
Beautiful shots!!
What a great video! Although, as usual, I wish as much was shown of the descent as of the ascent. Both matter.
How long have you been mountaineering?
Since the mid 1990s
savage
niiice!
What an amazing achievement! First hiked to Berg Lake with my dad at 16 and always wondered what it would be like to actually reach Robson's summit. This video gives me a better perspective then I ever imagined seeing all those years ago. Congrats on making your dream come true!
Love this, what a video. Big respect!
Excellent
Fantastic its on my list of to do's as well. Glad to see the weather turned up perfect for the summit.
who ever disliked this clearly miskicked lol
Insane. Passed by Mt. Robson MANY times and always wondered what this would be like. You’re an animal. This is incredible
Done in style... Truly amazing! No V-thread raps off the summit or Kain face?
Thanks Adam! One rap at the top of face and a second one over schrund
Great content, thanks for sharing
I don't think that mountain could be climbed in better style that what you did. I got thrashed on that mountain 3 time in my day and never made it to the top. Congrats.
Watching this high right now and that song you used was vibing with me so much! If society is still intact I will be hiking the GDT this summer, I've been wondering how do able it is off trail and it seems within my scope, I might have to listen to that same song mate!
amazing! Monets like that cannot be put into words. cheers!
. Excellent and very, very well put together mix of photos and video ! A physical tour de force and Solo to boot ! Glad you had Good weather and snow conditions... .
This is awesome! Quick question: what was your prior mountaineering experience? Really want to head up here in a couple years
Thanks! I had been climbing on & off for most of my adult life, maybe 10yrs combined mountaineering experience. Good luck with your journey!
@@brettbilon5699 thanks! Planning a multi month road trip to the Canadian Rockies in roughly a year and a half and I think mt Robson is definitely at the top of my list to see, and it’d be a better treat if I could climb it!
wow! Amazing!!!
Very impressive. Looked kind of scary in a few spots.
btw great video and congrats
planning to practice on this mountain before going to everest!
might want to practice on Everest first to do a climb like this.
@@craighall3820 Not planning on doing kane face, your very talented for doing the hardest side in my opinont
@@zoomfps5432 Not me! I'm just a replier. If I ever get younger again I'd love to do either of the aforementioned climbs. Life is too short.
@@craighall3820 if I ever climb everest I will think of that
@@zoomfps5432what he did is indeed serious but is the Emperor Face not more vertical/technical/difficult? But I’m definitely no expert.
Mate, well done!! You've got balls. I've soloed 2 very large high angle glacial faces like this, and people have no clue how gnarly/scary the shit really is. Particularly solo!! Hey question: When you said that the snow softened, making the descent straightforward, how soft are you talking? Like soft enough to lay the edge of a snowboard? You did this in July, I'm guessing?? Thanks for posting this!
Russell Cunningham thanks Russell!! Definitely the kind of snow that would be ski/rideable, and it has been skied a bunch of times for sure. I did this in July but if you went for May/June it would likely be a lot better ski conditions in typical years.
this would be the year for it Russ ;)
