Lego Longhorn Saloon MOC - 31109 Alternate Build
With the colours included in the Pirate Ship set, the first style that came to my mind was wild west. The first thing I worked on was the cow skull on the front of the Saloon. The look of the skull didn't look quite right until I added the horns. All the pieces in this MOC are from the Pirate Ship set except for the horns which are 2x animal horn 40379. These can be found in a lot of the recent Creator 3-in-1 animal sets.
This model includes the saloon with a a palm tree and water trough on the outside. The interior includes a stage where a minifig can use the microphone, a table and chair as well as bar stools lining the saloon counter. Behind the counter is the kitchen, including a stove, sink, cups and plates.
Besides the diagonal entrance with the cow skull, my favourite part of this build was using the pistols as water taps.

Hey Everyone! In this build series, I'm going to try and build a scale model of the Sydney Opera House. I really loved K'nex's new Architecture sets and wanted to put my new white pieces to use. The Sydney Opera House has a really unique design with very few traditional K'nex piece angles which makes this project way more interesting to design. Timelapse construction of the London Eye from Knex's new Architecture sets (Set no. 15237 These are some of the coolest sets Knex has produced in a long time! The build went smoothly. There was some troubleshooting required for the the wheel to rotate. The rods that are in contact with the rubber drive wheel work much better when they are rotated 45 degrees from the position shown in the instru...
Reminiscence Knex Ball Machine
Переглядів 7 тис.4 роки тому
Reminiscence. The name for this project was intentional. Over the last few years, ball machines have become quite repetitive. Most have the amazing white floor design by Kairah and a load of different lift systems. Though some amazing designs have come out over the years, this project is meant to be a flashback, or reminisce, on ball machines before those ideas became standard part of every pro...

K'nex Ferris Wheel Timelapse
Переглядів 4,2 тис.12 років тому
The start of a new channel. Hope you guys enjoy. I originally made this time-lapse for a school project but I decided to make a better video of it for youtube! In the time-lapse the Ferris wheel is being assembled in parts as opposed to individual pieces only because i didn't want it to take too long. More stuff coming soon! Enjoy! Hey! If I may ask and if you recall, where did you find piece 530802? It would be really helpful to be because I can’t find it and I really need it. You put it on at 3:53
How do I power this when it’s really tall . Since I’m trying to make it taller
cool
I built an exact copy of your element on path 8, shown at 3:55. I found it to be somewhat unreliable, with the ball often falling off as it passes over the ball in front of it. I'm wondering if there is something I missed when I built it. Was this track pretty reliable when you built it, or did you just show us a take of it working perfectly?
I was considering showing this at a show so it was incredibly reliable. My guess is a ball would fall off every 30 runs or so. Some things to have a look at: - The orange connectors where the ball lands on each flipper are intentionally angled inward to catch the ball more firmly. Check that they are indeed angled. - Check that the element is level. If there's a lot of stress on a certain section of your build that can cause the it to twist just enough to stop it working. (This happened to me with one of the other elements in this build). - have you got the correct style of ball? There are two sizes (as demonstrated by the black & white balls in the last track which are slightly larger). This element only works with the smaller ones that have a hole in them. - make sure the 'pusher' is two grey connectors with a gap in between. This also helps keep the ball centred. - have a play around with the weighting of the arms. the arm needs to light enough that the ball can cause it to snap the ball over it, but heavy enough that it doesn't overpush the ball. That's why the 'spacer' in between the two red connectors is a green connector. Let me know how it goes!
Thanks for responding. I found my problem. It was the white rods underneath the flippers. I didn't realize these were an important part of the track, I thought they were structural, so the balls were having to work harder to push the flippers farther. I added them to support the flippers, and it works a lot better now. The ball machine I'm making is unique in that it has no track separators. Instead, it's one tall plinko tower(the chamber with the pegs that the balls randomly bounce off on the way down). There are points all the way down where a ball can randomly land to leave the main chamber and go off on various track elements, then get redeposited in the chamber at a later point. So the track selection is entirely random. I have added your element to my tower and it is working well. Thanks!
😔 P*R*O*M*O*S*M!!!
This is a really cool ball machine! Great job!
Wow it looks very nice I might do that build
Wow what
That's looking great man! Didn't know you were into Lego haha, is this a recent interest?
Thanks! Yeah, with less space and time, I've come to appreciate the smaller scale and detail focus of lego in recent months. Still slowly plugging away at the Opera House though.
@@Tornado96AU Makes sense, but you could always retry that Knex marble machine challenge haha. I feel like 2018-2020 were the best years for Lego sets in terms of creativity and quality. Jared and I would like to get all the modular buildings that we missed since 2013 but there are 8 or so of them so it would take a while lol. Glad to hear you've still got the Opera House in the works, I was wondering if that was done or not.
I'm in awe. The balance between mechanical elements and track runs, the leapfrog, the structural (both the gray wall attributed to shadowman and the blue and white). You've accomplished every one of your goals. I've recently purchased a ball factory set, hopefully I can get a single element down that can be as impressive as just one of you master knex-ers.
My 5 year old and I just finished this one. We just have done something wrong though; our final rear diagonal stays/struts don’t fit right: the thin ones are under a lot of tension and the thick ones are under a ton of compression and bow out. The wheel doesn’t rotate with the motor as a result. Hmm. 🤔
The diagonal struts are primarily there for aesthetic reasons. The wheels rests far more of its weight on the tire guides at the bottom. So try taking the struts off and letting the wheel stand on it's own to make sure its working. I imagine there might just be some pieces connected wrong for the struts. All the best with troubleshooting!
Hi I know this late but just watch this and I won’t one and just brought it
Hey I actually ordered this set yesterday and I was reading the reviews and they were saying there was a lot of missing parts so I was actually curious if you had any parts missing?
I must've gotten all their missing parts cos I got a fair few spares. haha Hope you do get a complete set! It's a fun build
I can just imagine a flea walking through the small Wonka door entrance in the bottom of this and being wowwed by a world of 'pure imagination'.
Speed it up to 2x it's even coolerrrr
That leapfrog element is awesome! You have any instructions?
how did you get the black and white balls separated from the red and yellow ones?
Check out 0:53 The gap between the lift exit paths and the orange connectors is big enough to only allow the yellow and red balls through, which are a different size to the black and white.
@@Tornado96AU holy cow i never knew the black and white ones where smaller
@@eonbree8593 Wrong way around. Black and white are larger and also lighter. :P
I didn’t know shapes like these were even possible out of Knex! Great build.
wow :O that's a top tier ball machine there :D
Really impressive job with pushing KNEX to its structural limits and building limits
Just saw this but I liked it 👍. The use of excel was very cool as well
That hop frog part was awesome.
Epic... As balls
Great job! We're so happy you got to "Think Outside the Blocks" with our K'NEX Architecture set! We just posted an instructional video on how to build the K'NEX Architecture Eiffel Tower. Check it out here! - ua-cam.com/video/W_rXWy1_Ggc/v-deo.html
Great build, dome fun techniques
This is a great idea, and choosing that building will indeed be an interesting challenge! I like that you showed the drawings and calculations as well. So what ratio are you actually using, and how tall/long will the final model be?
Actual building is 65m tall. This model will be 30cm tall. So its a 1:217 scale. Not a nice round number, but I was aiming for a round number for the max height rather than for the scale.
@@Tornado96AU Gotcha. That sounds like a good height to aim for, since it's basically 1 foot or 2 red rods tall.
this is the most beautiful official k'nex set in my opinion
The first song in this video sound alot like "Snelle - Smoorverliefd (prod. Donda Nisha)"
awesome! :)
Is there any chance that the elements come up on instructables.com, so we can recreate them?
Sorry, this was taken down over a year ago. You might have to do it the old fashioned way and pause the video to see how much you can figure out from freezeframes!
@@Tornado96AU Yeah I know.. such a shame! It's such a cool balmachine with new cool elements.. the details of those are so complex, it's gonna be very hard to build them
How long did it take to build
A couple days on and off. Filming it made it take a little longer
man, I miss chain rides. when I first started making ball machines, I thought chain rides were the pinnacle of elements
That duel section looks amazing! It is so smoooth!
I love the style, just simple and fun. It does indeed remind me of metropolis!
That's pretty cool, I had no idea of this new theme. Even though it's mostly micro, like you said it's a good value for the money compared to the roller coasters. I like the new colors too, admittedly I was never a huge fan of the regular micro colors. At first I thought your video had a desaturation filter on it or something haha.
Haha. I actually made the eiffel tower set out of regular micro and took a greyscale photo to make it look black. I think my dream set would be something like this that was mostly green pieces. Whether normal or micro, I'd love to be able to build more 'vegetation' in builds.
@@Tornado96AU That would be cool, get them to do a Statue of Liberty set haha.
Deadly! Love the cinematography too :)
I saw this on the knex website. Is it worth it?
I really enjoyed the build. Worth noting that it is primarily a micro knex set. I think they're some of the best sets knex has released in ages and really well priced for the amount of pieces you get. I think there are roller coaster sets at the same price that come with half the pieces. I'm also keen to use the white pieces in other builds.
Nice, thanx for the video!
I like it, especially the new elements.
Did not expect to see a new machine from you when i searched for ball machines but damn its good. Grew up watching alot of yours and shadowmans machines and it seems like now im finally getting the hang of it haha. Good to see a new video and good luck in future endevours :)
Really awesome machine. Enjoyed seeing all the new elements. Just when I think I have seen it all - something else comes along! Really liked the cool video edits as well!
I love this! So simple and sweet. It's nice on the eyes and I love the differential mechanism at 2:07 as well as the style it was filmed. Music suited it well too! Nice job
such a great machine! I love all the clever little elements and use of multiple types of balls, and how the machine looks overall.
I have gotten inspired by people like you who made made ball machines in the old days of UA-cam that were popular in the KNEX community. These are the types of ball machines (compact) that really got me going and I like all of the the compact and new elements that are in this one. But really my Closing statement is that this ball machine is banger, I loved that you came back and I hope to see more stuff like this.👍😁
I'm glad our creations could inspire you like that! Keep it going. Keep creating, keep inventing. :)
Glad to see you're back, even if it isn't forever. What a way to go out! That leapfrog element is seriously amazing, as well as the overall design. It's nostalgic in a sense. I know that's what you were going for but it really shows in the overall layout of the tracks and lifts. It's genuinely refreshing to see things that have long gone by the way side, such as paths leading directly to lifts instead of a white floor, picked up and reinvented to be something unique. It's truly inspiring. Congratulations on everything, and I wish you the best of luck for your future.
That was really rewarding to read! Glad that my intention came through that clearly!
Tornado96AU thanks! You’ve been an inspiration to me since I was a kid, and I guess knowing you made it means I probably can too. Thanks for the reply man! 😄
Great to see a new ball machine from you! Nice to see both types of balls being used in a single build :). I really love the element where the one ball is going over the other!
Really glad you uploaded this, I didn't even know you were making a full machine haha. It's nice to see your unique building techniques, and I like the small details such as the different track types and the tower structures for the chain lifts (my favorite is the wall spiral). I totally forgot about that grey wall design, I thought it looked familiar. Great job!
There is a size splitter at the top... I think
KM135 is on the mark. The top means that the larger black and white balls only go to path 9. Yeah I was quite happy with the wall spiral too! Getting the spiral track on was a challenge though... Great to hear from you again! Hope you're all doing well. :)
Turkish harika
Awesome ball machine! Good video too. Approaching nirvana is awesome. :)
Green Connector I agree with everything you said ;p
Realborisboef K'nex haha, thanks.
i wish i can build this i got the parts for it
Extremely well editing. I loved the shots you got with your camera and very well assembled ball machine. Keep it up, hope you post more videos man! :)
