"JUMP" - A SHIN KAMEN RIDER Aerial Compilation Set To Greatness (or something)
Переглядів 2,8 тис.Рік тому
So the other night on Twitch, I did an impromptu get-together for the GODZILLA MINUS ONE trailer launch. After the reveal, I had a bit of fun with chat syncing tokusatsu footage together with music requests live. One of the unholy fusions that came out of this was Van Halen's "Jump" set to a jump scene compilation from SHIN KAMEN RIDER...which worked freakishly well. As the footage got muted on...

    What a great decade to be a kid. Before video games took over and later the internet. When you were a kid in the 70’s kids were riding bikes and playing non stop. The Mego Super hero line was one of my fav along with Hot Wheels, The Six Million Dollar Man,Comic books and the Shogun Warriors. I wasn’t into Star Wars as much as most kids. The Shogun Warriors were amazing. Still have mine today in the attic protecting my house👍

    Very well presented. Also interesting stuff to see as someone who started out in this industry (SFX, VFX) in the early 80s as a model builder and matte painter. It seems the Japanese model makers working on these movies never managed to make their vehicle models non-wobbly, but maybe that was a budgetary issue. We used to build all our vehicles (or any moving models) on very rigid and heavy steel frames to counter the dreaded wobble that is so prominent even when filmed at 60-90 frames per second.

I only know of the existence when i won the set at an anime convention back in 2019 in Canada of all places. I've watched through the episodes & when I shown the subtitles to my Japanese friend he told me that the subs seem to be expertly translated.

  • @Masterge77
    @Masterge77 8 місяців тому

    To say the whole situation regarding Daigo is BS is an understatement, especially when it comes to streaming. Ultraman Tiga was only released just last year on streaming services here in the US, and on both Tubi and Shout TV, they have majority of Ultraman media up to the end of the Heisei era, but when it comes to Tiga, the only things were Daigo makes an appearance are the Tiga series itself, the final two episodes of Dyna, and Superior 8 Ultra Brothers, while Final Odyssey is completely absent (yet almost every other movie from the Heisei Era is present). Seems like the issues are still ongoing even in 2024.

  • @Masterge77
    @Masterge77 8 місяців тому

    Ultraman has had a rocky history in the west, which is caused by a mixture of different factors. Power Rangers really wasn't one of them, which is ironic considering Super Sentai is arguably Ultraman's main competition, so had Tiga been localized back in 1997 or so, it would have been the perfect competitor in the west to Power Rangers. But unfortunately, that was also when the Chaiyo lawsuit started and pretty much made it so that Power Rangers was the only Tokusatsu in the west... well, unless you want to count early 2000's superhero movies, which is REALLY stretching things. In fact, Ultraman would have come to the west much sooner had it not been for Chaiyo, because unlike Toei with Kamen Rider (to which you can blame Saban's awful "adaptation" of Black RX for that), Tsubaraya was always open to break out into foreign markets. And it's because of Chaiyo and several of the disastrous attempts to bring Toku to the west that the genre is a LOT more niche in the west than Anime is, probably because the early attempts to bring Anime to the west weren't nearly as disastrous as with Toku, even when you factor 4Kids and the aforementioned Saban into the mix.

    I came to watch this as both a mecha anime fan & vintage toy collector. I have a weird story of how i read the comics as 5 years ago i found a colo(u)r omnibus of the comics at a thrift store that was leather bound & with golden lettering in all caps saying SHOGUN WARRIORS OMNIBUS on both the spine & the front cover on the leather binding. I purchased it for $20 Canadian & to this day I can't find any info on it online. Worth noting is that it is made from scans as the barcode area on the front covers of the comic are covered up with a black bar. P.S. I still have it in my possession but i have it in storage so I'd have to go find it before I can make a video about it.

    Ban Dai/Tamashii Nations has a pre-order up for a newly retooled Jumbo Shogun Mazinga and they've already done Godzilla. Not that dumb, inaccurate one Mattel did in the 70's. A totally new version that looks like he should have looked all along. And, Super 7's Jumbo Shogun MechaGodzilla sold out immediately. So, I gotta disagree with ya. The Shoguns do deserve a reboot and we're getting it right now. They are one of the few toys from my past that I wish I'd held onto, and now I'm getting my wish. Great video! Excellent storytelling matched with top notch production quality.

    Fun fact, modern science may make maser weapons relevant again in Godzilla movies, allow me to educate you all: Simply put, maser weapons always looked less like a purebred microwave laser, and more like an electrolaser, the microwave laser ionizes the air creating a path which an electric current can be fired down. This is real experimental technology being tested for long range taser weapons, but magnify the concept by several hundred times and the end result would look a lot like a maser tank firing. On another note, my favorite maser tank is still the upgraded type 90 "hypermaser" from tokyo sos, they actually looked somewhat realistic in appearance, and they had the best beam effect. A pity they only made Godzilla angrier.

    Well I can definitely agree with this. I don't know who was in charge with the editing like cutting to random sentai shows when they are discussing a specific series will confuse toku fans and audiences who aren't that deep into sentai including myself during 2019 (the year I discovered super sentai). Also the use of fansubs can be excused if it was a youtube video but for an official documentary that is absolutely lazy.

    It’s very bizarre in hindsight that he managed to get volumes 1 and 3 of the Ultraman Tiga Funimation DVDs, given that now those are by far the rarer and more expensive ones. Volume 3 in particular is almost impossible to find for under 100 dollars, bizarrely more rare than the other sets. Maybe because it has the Akio Jissoji directed episodes? I don’t know. These DVDs are also the only American release that has Take Me Higher on it so that’s great.
