4:26 WOW your roommate is not very girlie either for goofing up the Disney reference. But glad this book was a hit- you’ve made me wanna read it too.

I don’t know maybe it is? I’ve never seen Aladdin so I can’t be sure of the parallels. Does Aladdin have an abusive father who forbids his daughter from being with the person she loves and wants her to be with a different man simply for his prestige? Either way, I won’t hold it against her.

as a certified romance girly. i always doubt the new york times best sellers lists and good reads ratings. after so many years of being betrayed by bland, over used tropes, and poorly written dialogue i just have to trust my gut when browsing titles in person. that being said, when you find good titles that are so deep, have great plot, sub plot and good banter that manages to have you kicking your feet a little. those are the books that bring me true joy. i do think fantasy romance is better than contemporary romance. but that’s my personal bias. ❤

I will have to try some fantasy romance next time! Do you have a favorite? I feel like the added layers of story would help keep me interested in the relationship. Because without stakes it does seem like a difficult task for romance authors to keep their readers hooked. I think I’ve learned that although the romance genre is the most popular that doesn’t mean it’s the easiest to do well.
