This is a short comparison of machines 1935 AD series to AM series 1950's. The 1935 has the original motor design, had to tear it apart and wash it because of reg. oil used. Has a slightly different sound. Wish the FA series 68-69 was here to add to the test.

I have a few 221 machines and i find the pale turquoise/celery colour has different parts to the black 221. I guess those are the changes they made to keep it cheaper to manufacture.

Great vid immolder! I was watching this as part of my research into my 221 & pair of 301A's hook video that I will be making soon. I am working on 348's hook vids right now. These 221's & 301's have the same unique size bobbin & bobbin case/hook as you already know. Anyway keep up the good work! I scrubbed through some of this and watched the part about the steel wool. Thanks for the tip. I will be back to watch more just before I start on these three hooks here. Thanks!
It would be great to see you demonstrate your methods for wet sanding a new paint job! I’ve got one to do more and not sure if I should use a pad or just my hand with such fine grits. how much to sand /when to stop. How long after clear coating till sanding, hours, days, a month?
I like the knot cheat sheet cards in the center console, I have one of those and it is fun to look at from time to time. what's the advantage of running the trolling motor up front versus the rear. The reason I ask, I am in East Texas, and we have tons of trees in the lakes I fish. Great job on this build out sir. Thanks for taking the time to share this with everyone.
The motor up front was cheaper than Torqedo (spelling), and it had spot-lock and foot control with the pedal option. The blowdowns try to fish around if closer pull up motor and paddle in. Thank you.

Walt Great video and lots of valuable info!!!. I do have several questions and I wanted to post them on your facebook group but you paused the discussions. Question #1 what airbrush do you use? There are hundreds online and didn't know which one would be best. #2 what paint and top coat do you use. I was getting confused about the additives you need like the hardner? can you further explain about the paint mixture. I have 4 machines that will need repainting and would love to use your method. Thank you for all your help
I use a Paasche double action with a .70 tip with a fan head. For paint I use automotive base clear coat, sold at autobody stores. This group has more info. Just answer the questions and I will approve. facebook.com/groups/1341971366656061

I am not sure foot wise, it was for the two person jet ski's. Hope it helps.

Not specifically, but there is an era appropriate buttonholer in a turquoise “torpedo” case.

I watched both your videos on the bobbin cases, great job, very informative. One of the complaints about the aftermarket cases is the noise they sometimes make because of the fit. Hard to hear from your videos, but could you tell the difference in sound between them? Thanks for all your effort!
There was no difference in sound to me. It is possible as the thread is sliding over the case it snags then as more tension is applied it snaps loose causing the noise. The thread must glide smoothly over the case. It may require polishing not because of it fitting in the hook assembly, but because of roughness causing it to snag,
Enjoying your videos! I found my white featherweight last year for 20 dollars on Facebook marketplace here in Sweden. Didn’t come with a case but is in pristine condition. I’ve heard people threw the cases away as the glue smelled abominable.

I have the same machine. The bottom cover is the same. I wish you would do a video on checking the motor and removing and installing ihe sitich regular assembly. I am having a problem with the gib on the bobbin case. I can't get it to open.

Singer 221 charcoal black wrinkle finish. Can that be duplicated. AE985840 (1938) old gear or new gear. Great video on the different gear scenario. Trying to make one machine from two.
Yes crinkle finish can be done. I know it was done on valve covers for cars. i will have to look how it ws done.

Great video.. I have quite a few FW's and many original bobbins cases.. I have bought 4 Amazon bobbin cases (#3 in your test with the extra bobbins) and they work very well! It's nice you did this and put it out there!

Great setup! I just purchased the same yak last month in the camo color and have been looking for ideas. I bought the Garmin 93sv to install. Trying to decide about the power system, battery, etc. so I can do it all at the same time.
