Better Know Trump's Foreign Policy Team
Donald Trump's foreign policy team is taking shape. So for today's episiode, I wanted to give listeners a deeper understanding of some of the key players that will shape US foreign policy in the years to come.
My guest is Josh Keating, a senior reporter at Vox and a veteran of DC foreign policy reporting. We go through a list of key foreign policy figures in the incomming administration, discuss the distinct foreign policy traditions and personal experiences that have informed their worldviews, and explain what baggage or, perhaps more charitably, perspectives they will bring to their new roles. We then discuss how key decisions on Ukraine may determine what faction of Republican foreign policy ideology may have the upper hand in Trump's second administration.

When Treaties Work: The Chemical Weapons Convention
Переглядів 1516 годин тому
The Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), which prohibits the manufacture, stockpiling, and use of chemical weapons, entered into force in 1997. It is now the most widely adopted international arms control treaty, with 193 states parties. The CWC is a clear example of a treaty that works. Since its adoption, all declared chemical weapon stockpiles have been destroyed, including those of the United...

An Inside look at Jimmy Carter's Quest to Kill the Last Guinea Worm
Переглядів 4614 днів тому
Jimmy Carter passed away on December 29th, at the age of 100. Jimmy Carter's term in office coincided with some key events in international affairs, including the Iran hostage crisis and the Soviet Union's invasion of Afghanistan. But for my money, Jimmy Carter's most lasting legacy will be what he did after office. And in terms of history alterting impacts on the human species, Jimmy Carter ha...

Will There Be a Coming Trade War?
Переглядів 3228 днів тому
If Donald Trump actually follows through on many of his campaign promises to impose tariffs, it would thoroughly upend the rules-based system governing international trade. That system, which is partially embodied by the World Trade Organization, was once championed by the United States. However, over the years, U.S. presidents, including President Biden, have occasionally skirted its rules and...
What Syria's Political Future May Look Like | Emma Beals

As a journalist who covers international humanitarian crises, I'm accustomed to seeing masses of refugees fleeing their homes for safer locations. But in Syria over the last several days, the reverse has happened. Thousands upon thousands of displaced people are now returning home the scenes of traffic jams, literally on the road to Damascus, were indicative of the fact that Syrians believe thi...
What is Biden's Africa Legacy? (And Will Trump Blow It Up?)
Переглядів 43Місяць тому
Joe Biden's final foreign trip as President was a long-promised visit to sub-Saharan Africa-Angola, to be precise. Biden had pledged to be the first President to visit Africa in nearly a decade, but the trip was delayed and is only happening with just a few weeks left in his term. Still, the trip was intended to solidify at least one part of the Biden administration's legacy: a major infrastruc...

Why Ebola is No Longer a Great Global Threat
Переглядів 6Місяць тому
Listeners will no doubt remember the devastating Ebola outbreak of 2014-2016. More than 28,600 people were infected, and 11,325 people died across several countries in West Africa. One of the hardest-hit places was Sierra Leone, where nearly 4,000 people lost their lives. In the years since, scientists and civil society advocates have raced to develop and implement a vaccine to protect against ...
A Political Earthquake in Botswana
Переглядів 48Місяць тому
Botswana's general elections were held on October 30th, and the results were nothing short of a political earthquake. Botswana has had the same ruling party for 58 years-since independence. Even by the standards of long-ruling post-independence parties in Africa, this is remarkable. Just days after the elections, President Mokgweetsi Masisi and his Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) conceded defea...
The Crisis in Haiti Has Taken a Dramatic Turn for the Worse
Переглядів 34Місяць тому
Over the past few weeks, the situation in Haiti has gone from bad to worse. On November 10, the interim prime minister of Haiti, Gary Conille, was dismissed by the council that had appointed him in May. Since then, violence has surged throughout Port au Prince and in surrounding locals. A Kenyan-lead police mission has been powerless to stop this escalating security and humanitarian crisis. In ...

Scam for the future Did you guys noticed conditions everyone mentioned underwriting the necessary changes the world will do no matter what
We were all together when Hassan called us to fight the British to keep us from being slaves. The British broke us up, and they are not going to break us us up any further. They are the only ones that can give us recognition. Why can't the leaders of Somaliland understand this, and show the paper work and deeds from the high court to prove your statements? Peace!
This is 2024 this is the way the world sees us.We are all Somalis Barre is dead Somalilanders you are breaking international law and the world will turn against you. Somali lands belong to all Somalis only. We have to learn to live and to live together in peace respect and most of all with space. The only person who can give you recognition is the white man and he is not going to give it to you or make your currency valuable throughout the world. You lost Egypt, and they will team up with US and destroy Ethiopia and Mogadishu will help. My father is from the Isaaq tribe in Somaliland I can't believe how blind and naive my people are. You are not going to win this time, and you are going to be wiped out this time totally knocked out of the world game. Your will be beggars of aid and food and Britain is not going to fight the US or Egypt for you. I told you the US is giving Mogadishu 9 million in weapons they are drilling for oil you are going to be wiped out like the Palestinians, and have to crawl back out of the ruins again and still not get recognized. You are so independent than be independent all the way and not want or beg for recognition from the white man. But you are willing to die and take Somalis with you over something that you will never get from the white man. He isn't going to give into your threats of war. If you do it that means anybody or tribe can do it. Your leaders are leading you to death. Peace!
Climate is a scam to enslave humanity
Somaliland will get recognition very soon
ahmedaliEilmifarah101 are a asset
Somaliland’s recognition is inevitable. The MOU with Ethiopia is a standard agreement, and Somalia can't interfere. Somaliland has been sovereign since 1960, and reunification with Somalia is impossible. Recognition is expected by the end of this year... VIVA Somaliland., whether you like it or not, Somaliland will be soon recognized by Ethiopia.
Show us the legal paperwork as to who owns Somaliland get if from the white man's high court of countries and territories.. Ethiopia has no power on the world stage to make any country or give any country recognition. Don't be fooled by Promises Ethiopia can't keep, and never had the power to keep. They want our land and sea port and will say anything to get it. They never gave us Ogaden back. Peace!
The guest is a opposition adherent of a Populist polotical party in Somaliland. Ruling party's loss is the opposition's gain. 😅 I would take what he spews with a pinch of disinfectant.
Sorry Brother, Somalia isn't weak.Remember when Ethiopia tried to get Mogadisho they couldn't get it.
Ethiopia already controls 60% of Somalia. How can Somalia fight 45,000 Ethiopia troops already stationed deep in their territory? It would be messy, hence why Somalia thinks it is wise to invite Egypt and Turkey to use their country for a proxy war.
@@oogdhugee_3072 The President of Somalia sent Ethiopia troops home and now have US and Turkey and Egyptians troops and weapons. They are getting ready to hurt Ethiopia and if Somaliland gets in the way they will hurt them to. Where was Ethiopia, when Barre was killing Somalilanders and the white man? Why didn't Ethiopia give Ogaden back to us Somalis? So many of us died and we never got Ogaden back.

Running 10 years 321 subscribers nd in one day 10 views? Does this mean even the subscribers don't bother? And yet another expert on China from the US! They don't even know the name of the governing body. (Hint! It isn't the Chinese Communist Party!)
They are not our problem. Illegals have no business entering my country illegally via the coastal waters of the UK from France. That is why we have borders. They should be promptly removed without benefit. They have not been invited and they are not welcome. So shuffle off. The UK needs to revoke the non contributory welfare system.

Really informative
Precious H.E. Jimmy Cherizer you are not a gang leader you are a saviour of Haiti people if you agree to sit together with your brother H. E Prime .Minister Henry Raulel and bring back the lost glory the rule of the law. Remember you were once an enforcer of the Law in Haiti. Just like Joshua and Caleb were chosen by God to take Israel to the promised land I believe you both can do it for the poor people of Haiti. Our beloved President W. Ruto has agreed to support your country with. 1000 enforcement, this are not enemies but friends in need. Let every leader in Haiti think what he or she can do for Haiti but not what Haiti can do for them. Haiti is the most peaceful, beautiful country in the world. God Bless Haiti.

The “debt-trap” theory is concocted by Brahma Chellaney, an Indian geopolitical strategist. The “debt-trap” theory is concocted by Indians, and popularized by Americans. They concoct this theory to demonize China, Chinese and BRI projects/loans. India, US, along with EU, fear losing their control over other countries which may result from these projects. Such fears are based on their selfish and geopolitical interests. However, people from all over the world, especially from developing countries have acknowledged the needs and the actual benefits of these projects/loans. They know from their first-hand experience that there is no debt-trap. Academics and researchers have reviewed these projects, and have debunked the debt-trap theory.
Can you tell us how did you come up with that math? Your video is 9 month old but your title says 15 years ago from his death in 2003? It's been 20 years to be exact. 🤦♀️

'PromoSM'
One interesting development since the war started is that the popular Chinese nationalism has really displayed itself as a literal double-edged sword. On one hand there's the age-old anti-Americanism, while on the other hand there is also quite a few anti-Russian, irredentist, but not necessarily pro-American, voices that argue China should backstab Russia and take Central Asia or even Russian Far East, should Russia get itself defeated.
Great

Thank you for making these valuable comments reach us.

Wow!! Very insightful and factual. Another countries currency is devalued by banks printing and inflation. The Yemeni people need a Yemeni bank. For the people by the people. Mayer Amschel Rothschild once said: “GIVE me control of a nation's money supply, and I care not who makes its laws.” "The man who controls the British money supply controls the British Empire, and I control the British money" supply."
