Building an ICF Foam Block Basement GoPro Time Lapse
Переглядів 297 тис.10 років тому
I was building an addition on the end of my house. This is the digging and pouring of the basement and floor in ICF blocks.
Cool video! What did you do for water-proofing? French-drain? Dimpled drainage mats? ...and/or something else?
whats that extension called for the concrete truck?
Great work, Check out ua-cam.com/video/1dgIjAbHYvA/v-deo.html
Neat work thank you for the video. :)
Great job! Love the use of ICF. Is it earthquake proof? Will your crew be interested in doing a job in San Francisco Bay Area? Unfortunately, we don’t have ICF experienced contractors out here.
You can Google the question but the short answer is yes they are generally able to withstand earthquakes.
That basement doesnt look deep at all. What's the point of having a basement if it's not deep enough to be a livable space?
No mamen si van a subir un vídeo no lo dejen ala mitad terminenlo
Lots of folks only do basements with ICF but it us actually faster to do the whole house, insulation is not required and boarding is easier, the cost in the end is the same. Highest ICF wall i have ever poured was 26 feet high, massive thing. Amazing technology.
I was in ICF construction for 10 years and have built and poured 100s of walls, but wouldn't dare pour 26 feet in one shot. Which system was that using?
Is that guy takin a leak at :22??
why were the walls poured in full sections rather than in lifts all the way around? Seems you might have vertical joints.
No Rebar in slabs or walls. Sub Standard construction by the contractor. I wouldn't hire these fuckers to build a dog house.
Lots of rebar in the walls. You can see the rebar sticking out of the footing. Then when the foam block walls are complete they drop rebar down to meet up with the stubs in the footing. Trust me they did it to the building code as it was inspected on a regular basis and the man is a very reputable cement contractor. He does top quality work. Thanks for watching
Greg Rooney i am not an american or a contractor but code is the minimum you have to do. It does not mean its all you should do. In emergency services we used to say better have and not need, then need and not have. In case of a home i would want to leave nothing that i might regret not having. After all its dificult to change later if not imposibile. Also even with icf building i would want the concrete mix vibrated against honeycombing after all it does weaken the walls
I'm sure that they are following The Code by not using the rebar or the reinforced wire see all that equipment out there it's expensive those guys aren't dumb if following the code
Yep we vibrated the walls All the way along
No wire or re-bar in the basement floor?
No it's not required in a basement floor.
May not be required but is a good idea.
Unless requested, no rebar in basement floors other than bearing, the heaviest thing in your basement is a water heater. I use rebar in everything I do, but the basement isn't necessary, but that's in the midwest where I'm at, all floors are frost protected, so unless it's a walkout with overdig this is fine
jedmarum Unbelievable it's been a year since
jedmarum Unbelievable it's been a long time since I I own asap
Great video. Thanks for sharing
I am a noob with a silly question: how does the foam on the outer wall not get crushed when the sides of the basement are refilled with dirt? Won't the force of the earth, the pure weight on he walls, crush the foam?
Fill it wish crushed stone in the bottom for water drainage and then back fill with sand. It does not crush it at all.
While 2 or 4 inch can only hold so much weight themselves much like concrete by itself, but once the void is filled with rebar and mix then it becomes stronger like reinforced concrete. For some videos showing the strength just type "ICF Durability Test" into the YT search box.
I do enjoy watching a good excavator operator.
To bad he wasn't a good one hey?
He is the best there is.
I'm using build blocks on my home this summer as well, I liked the pre-pour of the basement, I would have done some things differently to be sure but any advancement if standard building practices is a good thing in my book, I will have a UA-cam channel as i plan on filming the entire build.
Did you record it?
How long did it take you to do this?
+SpaceCaddy0307 About a week from start to finish.
Hi man, nice video. Do you have some videos of your finale project? I'm planning to use same technology to build my house. How do you like it in general?
+Dima Ivan I do not have a video of the final project I have pictures of the completed house. The insulated blocks are the way to go. The basement is nice and warm in the winters and cool in the summer.
Thanks for the vid. Much appreciated. Maybe could add some Benny hill music?
