Western Oregon Yarder Logging
Переглядів 4,3 тис.2 роки тому
A-1 loggings yarder crew just moved into some impressive ground. This unit named "Center Strip" is located on the steep terrain of the Tillamook State Forest in North Western Oregon. Everything has been cut and yarding is underway to clean this until up so it can be replanted for future generations to enjoy and harvest.
Jackson Logging's "Rowdy Railroad Grade" Side
Переглядів 3,7 тис.2 роки тому
Got an opportunity to fly for Jackson Logging in Yamhill OR. They were flying logs across a creek and county road. This requires the logs to be fully suspended in air to avoid interacting with the creek habitat and the road. It was a fun job for Buswell Drone Services and we look forward to flying for these guys again!
West Side 6 Update
Переглядів 1,5 тис.2 роки тому
A quick update from A-1 Logging's "Westside 6" Shovel Side. This is a technical unit. It may not be a steep slope like they are used to, but it has creeks and marshes that they are doing a great job of avoiding!
A-1 Logging flying rope to lay out the next yarder road.
Переглядів 2,3 тис.2 роки тому
This is the next generation of logging at its best. Using a drone to fly this high tinsel rope to the tail hold completely eliminates the need for the crew to pack heavy cable the 2000 feet down one side and up the other, not to mention there is a river crossing in the middle of it all. What used to take half a day is now done in a matter of minutes. The coordination between the Spotter and the...

Shot this reel after A-1 Logging's Yarder had been up and running for 3 days. The production of these yarder crews has always been amazing to behold.
A-1 Logging's Rock Creek job site, winter of 2022

A progression of the yarder side setting up and logging this private job. Using the CAT Buncher to help deck the wood close to the yarder roads made for a quick one week 2 road job here.

A1... appropriate. Great falling and the processor operator was born to log.
Working & hunting on the Oregon coast range that’ll keep the fat off yah my first woods job was planting trees in 82 gets you ready for the rigging 🍻
Ppl commenting like new trees don’t get planted at these places… fun fact a full grown tree will stop absorbing carbon and die while a growing tree will not stop absorbing carbon. Planting new trees is better than just leaving the ones that are there :)
Cool drone footage of the riggin’ looks like a good outfit you work for.
Thanks Ryan, A1 is a great group of guys.
A far cry from the "good ole days" when there was no riparian boundaries and they would just build a bridge across the river to set up a landing to cat log it. Interesting to watch how it has to be done today with all the regs. There were some pretty nice logs across the river, looked like some of those stumps were 36 to 40 inches in diameter.
Glad you were able to gain a perspective from this footage. You are right, times have changed! Thanks for watching Dave.
Don’t leave out the fact that fallon logging did the hardest part of that entire job
I only wish I could have gotten some film of them side hilling that left wall. I did get to see some of it in person the winter before this. Tough spot for sure. Thanks for the call out Ivan, defiantly want to give credit where credit is due.
Awesome filming! That's some serious logging going on. The landing looks really well laid out to rock and roll 🤘
Thanks Kevin, it was a great project to film.
Could I contact you about the possibility of using some of your footage in a documentary?
Thank you for your interest. You can find my contact info on our website BuswellDroneServices.com.
“Look at what they do to our forests!” Type doc or “look at how we sustainably continue to do this for decades” type doc
Its so interesting how different your steep slope logging methods are from ours up on Canadas west coast. I'm not sure if it's work place laws or gov harvest policy that makes things so different for such similar terrain. Nice video work !
What kind of differences
Thanks for your comment. I am curious what difference you are seeing. I am glad you liked the video and hope you keep watching.
Boa noite!! Tanks.
Glad you liked the video! It is a very throughout process. Everything has to work for the highest production. Thanks for the comment.
My last name is Buswell too. The earliest I can find our name in America is in 1652 or something like that, Isaac Buswell came from England to the Virginia colony. Coincidentally, I have a great uncle who was named Isaac, and a nephew named Isaac after him. Do you have any knowledge of your ancestry? I live in NH, family has been here in this town since 1789.
Hello fellow Buswell, I do know some of my ancestry. Meeks trail was our path west on a pretty famous wagon train.
It’s gotta be a pretty stout drone to carry that cable that far out
It is a very rugged piece of equipment. I do want to point out that it is a high tensile rope that is flown and used to pull the cables around for setup. I’m confident the drone would handle cable but the battery life would make it useless when pulling that kind of weight. Thanks for the comment and watch for new content to come in the future.
Much erosion?
Nice
The rigging it takes to make this happen right on. Salvage is best with 1 landing so there killing it if thats what this is. The production they see every day would be big.
Trabajé 12 años en la montaña de Oregon y ahora estoy en mi tierra feliz admiro a toda la gente que trabaja en esos lugares es muy duro ... Saludos desde Puerto Escondido Oaxaca.........

In my country slovenia this type off cutting is iligal . But nice work
Awesome footage! Love the 552
Máy xúc làm việc rất hay
Cool footage, ugh another cat machine🤦♂️
Tether pretty cool, I've cut steeper without a tether , in madill 2250 tilter, I ran these cats before and you get pretty tired of looking at ur Rad every time you just look to the right
This was a brand new piece of equipment brought to this job to be tested. The operator in this video could have done without but you know boys and their new toys.
Obviously you don’t actually know the main reason of using a tether on ground that not overly steep ya nob jocky ...
@@buswelldroneservicesllc7399 my grandpa got to test out all the new dozers for Glendale plywood back in the day he loved most of the new toys.
I'll stick to the tigercat thanks
Man this thing will put a lot of lumberjacks out of a job.
Time for tigercat boys!, them cats are garbage, but cool video
I am a forest machine operator, and I was looking for work.
Where is thst
Oregon
Wow !! I'm with Patrick Z this is an Awesome video,Great work man. nice long roads !
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Make sure to follow the page for more. Currently putting together a down hill yarding video that I think you might wanna see.
Can't wait until we have a few of those machines in stock to rent to customers.
They are a handy tool no doubt! Thanks for watching and follow for more.
Uhg I can't stand them cats! Rad the same size as the cab🤦♂️i ran one for a bit ,Time for tigercat guys! So much more efficient and operator friendly
That's a badass video
Good best
Me encanta este trabajo felicitaciones
Waste of fuel
Haha you're not wrong. This was my first day operating anything like this, so I'm not surprised you aren't impressed. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video, probably the best yarder footage I’ve seen. That is some serious ground there!
Thank you! There will be plenty more to come.
damn this almost looks like where I live in Southern oregon!
You guys have some tough ground down there for sure! Thanks for the comment, hope you follow for more content.
Beautiful photography. The drone perspective is great.
Thank you very much. I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to showcase this industry. Hope you follow the page for more content.
Considering the wood has been down a while I'd say those are pretty light looking turns.
Production has been great on this setting. I also operate the Processor on this landing, so I only fly the drone when I know the rigging crew will be in a tougher patch that will allow me the time to launch and recover the drone without getting in the way of safety or production. Thanks for the comments, I hope you check out our other videos and continue the conversation.
@@buswelldroneservicesllc7399 With that 2nd growth 6 - 7 logs a turn would be a nice low end number. I saw one turn with only two logs.... Need to get your slinger to start looking ahead so he can get a nice big turn every time. But like opinions are like aholes and everyone has one. L0L :-)
@@stevenstewart7603 yeah, it’s easy to armchair quarterback. I’m guilty of it my self, but this ground is nothing but steep and steeper. This crew is cleaning up after a different company cut and left half way through. I suppose I didn’t represent the elevation change and extreme topography of this unit, but to ask these guys in the rigging to do anything but what they have been would be unnecessary. The customer is happy with the 5-6 extra loads a day in comparison to the last contractor. As I stated last comment, this video is not a fair representation of production due to my limited availability to process and fly during high production activities.
@@Jbuswel2 haha. 🤣 good one.
Well done video, but why all down? Wuodnt thining and after 10 years bigger trees?
Thank you, from what I was told there was a lot of damage from an ice storm so the owner decided to take them. It’s a tree farm so decision have to be made.
ua-cam.com/video/T2rMlc_0Cw4/v-deo.html !
At that rate of recovery, it will take 9.3 gazillion years to get it to the top.
5 minute mark was that all salvage wood looks all dead
The previous contractor was unable to complete the unit before snow moved in this last winter. A-1 Logging is there to finish it up. Thanks for watching and commenting. l hope you follow the page for more!
Awesome!
Very nice footage Jon!
