Summer Crappie Hotspots: Secrets Revealed
N Texas area ? Just guessing based on the forecast. I'm in N. Texas myself.
What pound test line do you use?
6 lb.
does this mean there are 31,000 new rainbow trout sitting above the dam?
They got wash down stream. Reports of some folks catching 70 a day just weeks after the flood. Unsure about the numbers that really survived. He told me they lost the entire fall stock that was to be put in. They're get back to normal stocking at some point this year.
black crappie is spotted and white crappie have lines? nice
Yes sir. Thanks for watching.
If you use livescope you aren't a crappie fisherman, you are a video player, livescope is fixing to be band from crappie USA tournaments, because it's killing real fisherman
Thanks for watching.
Man that’s alot of crappie on that brush pile
Yea. They deep on this lake when the water temp gets below 50. Best to have done your homework with the graph having several brush piles at different depths marked.
Man in my lake all the baitfish is on 50+ foot deep on the old river ledges, the water temps are in the mid 40s. You can stop and fish all those brush piles in 20-30 ft and catch a big goose eggs. Man different lakes and regions really make a huge difference.thanks for your video😊
Awesome.
That's the mother load
Wylie
What lake do you fish in?
Catawba River Chain, this is Lake Wylie which has a good population of crappie.
@HeeyManFishing thank you. That is what I was hoping. Want to learn how to crappie fish. I live 5 miles from Allison Creek Landing or Ebenezer Park on Lake Wylie.
Anytime you want a fishing partner, Im ready.😂
Get some!!
What days do they stock in Cherokee waters
90 percent rainbows. Theres an interesting interview with hatchery I did in December. Please watch it.
Got told it white caps at 9mph winds wondering if this is true or not
Yes it does. I always pay attention to the forecast when fishing there.
Awesome Video🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video! I'm going to adddthis to my fisheries!
Please do!
That was good advice about that ribbon.
Glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching!
Lol if you take his livescope away from him he would not catch much. Everyone is a pro now. These people are going to ruin our spawning fish.
Thanks for watching.
Most all folks including myself caught fish way before livescope ever came along, so I will guess this fellow here can catch these crappie with normal 2 D sonar as well.😊
@dannylang7971 oh back in the day it was just by memory off docks I knew. I am old school for sure.
Me too line up a tree in a window on one side and another tree on the corner of another house, yea I am old school too.
👌
Thanks
@ u bet bud
You should start guiding on our local lakes. (Wylie and Wateree)
What were the tips?
Thanks for watching.
What part of the Deep South are you from, I live in Georgia.
SC. Thanks for watching.
@@HeeyManFishing South Carolina here too I fish lake Russell
Thanks for your reply.😊
If you’re supposed to get in the teens, in the Deep South, I better check the weather here! Central Illinois. BTW, nice boat!
Thanks. Thanks for watching.
them to small to keep, find smaller schools for bigger crappie
Smaller ones get throw back afterwards. Thanks for watching.
Trust me this is the size of fish that the south is known for.😊
@@dannylang7971 This particular has a great population of crappie but yea many small ones, my State SC has a size limit of 8" for that reason. Thanks for watching.
That's by no means a big crappie but nice catch nonetheless
Thanks for watching.
I have the same bait cooker.. I rigged mine up to run off a dewalt battery…it will last forever
Huge one
Most definitely is the key live nait or jig use a loop knot or other wise called live bait knot
Sorry they were hit so bad. Love fishing there.
Yes sir. They will be back though hopefully by next year at this time.
Like your videos. Isvthatva Sportsman 17 your fishing out of? I have the same boat with a 70 on it. Great boat in my opinion
Absolutely love that boat. Check your trailer. Bear. My brackets broke. Bear made it good. Sent new ones and paid for local welder add new ones.
You mean the brackets holding the bunks?
Across from that campground has always been good to fish! One of my favorites
Do you ever fish in Gatlinburg? I'd love to see a video comparing trout fishing in Gatlinburg and on the other side of the Smokies, there in Cherokee. Of course, this spot right here is going to be hard to compare with.
No never fish there I know people who have . Hard to be Cherokee.
I’m a new subscriber. I like your style of finding and fishing. Keep it up
Thanks for the support.
🤫 this is a terrible spot to fish
Thanks for watching.
Thank you for all the good information 😊 your the best
Thanks. Join the FB group for more info listed in the description.
You guys somehow have recipes for catfish? That's certainly not a delicacy here in Australia and people would puke at the thought lol fkn girls 🤣 So much respect to the Americans for discovering a way to make catfish taste great 👍 respect
Salt & Pepper catfish oh yea at our Seafood Restaurants, in the South its called Fish Camps.
As an Aussie guy I'm starting to really really appreciate the American man's love for fresh water fishing! Every Australian guy I know hardly ever fishes fresh water.. It's always ocean and salt water fish because they don't understand the fishes diet and how catch the fish and prepare the fish? The reason I know this is that they always complain that the fish tastes muddy lol Then I know that an idiot once fished freshwater like he does salt water and hates the taste....... More fish for me I suppose? 😁 One thing I have noticed though is that America has a lot more seasonal or migratory fish species compared to Australia because we don't get melt waters replenishing the system and most water collection is overland flow from more continuous rainfall? So we have fish species that like to live in more still waters or muddy murky waters contaminated with Overland flows usually rich in organic matter also? So in the smaller waterbodies that have steady flow in and out, if you have a decent lure or you're smart enough to catch some insects such as grass hoppers on your walk in you will be guaranteed to catch the same damn hungry fish over and over again; so the idea is to use a rope tied to the bank and stick tied to end of the rope and have it close to the exit spill way or outflow, then you put the stick and rope through the gill to keep the fish "tethered" but still alive and with the constant water flowing past the gills the fish is quite happy to swim tethered. You can simply keep adding fish onto the end of the tether 😉 Then the idea is to fish until you are done or happy with the some of the catch, then you selectively pick say 3 of the best of largest of the catch and release the rest to respect and replenish the natural stocks of fish. We have plentiful yellow bass similar to America and you guys love catching them and eating them 👍 Hardly anyone here in Australia torches them? I get the feeling that you would be the type of fella that might like the following short story? I once went out hunting with my dad and we were situated along this river that was known for good fishing including yellow bass and Murray Cod. Everyone always wants to catch a Cod, right? Well we also have a lot of carp too and they are a pest. So naturally all the guys are catching bass and mostly carp. Dad and I went exploring for miles up the river banks until we came upon a huge big tree draped out over the river full of cockatoos nesting and below this tree the water was alive and teaming with action almost looking like some kind of monster lurking beneath? Dad says to me "ok we are going back to the car to get my beach fishing steel trace and we are gonna catch ourselves a cod but don't tell any of them how we did it ok?" Sure enough we prepared ourselves and dad climbed a tree to grab a baby bird from the nest and he got bitten to sh!t getting it out and then I realised what he was doing? And he goes "you're not going to like this so you might want to close your eyes?" Dad said "we will say a prayer for this one for getting our dinner tonight because f*ck carp Amen" 😂 Not even kidding we had a huge Cod in less than 5 seconds but do you think we could get the thing in? No way it was stronger than both of us combined! Dad hitched around a tree and made me go back to get a star picket to migrate our catch up the river enough away from where we caught it so his mates didn't find out when we walked back to tell them that we needed help to bring in a giant cod. All I can remember is the shocked look on their faces because the biggest cod anyone had caught on a line was usually smaller than yellow bass anyway and meant they were illegal to eat. Took all of them over an hour to land on the bank and our secret was maintained 😎
Great story your dad was being respectful for taking the life of the bird and catching a cod. Very interesting.
What system do you use to turn your live scope from left to right?
Rite Hite Turret. They have a 3 and 5 speed. I got the 3. Easy install. Going on 3 years now.
My favorite spot to fish in Cherokee. Catch something every time even since the flood
In a new subscriber and a new to crappie fishing. Hope to learn from your videos. I’m in Alabama River fish on the Black Warrior.
Enjoy your videos. Thanks for posting.
Glad you like them!
Thanks Ben.
Heyman, I'm looking for a 3piece rod med/light moderate/fast action. Any suggestions. I want to throw tiny spins but backbone should I ever get into anything of size? You ever use 10# braid with a 4# tippet?
I use 5x in catch & release on my flyrod. Catch & keep ultralight combo (walmart). You can try Amazon on that three piece. I dont use braid on my ultralights.
When in January will they start stocking?
Dont know a date.
Thanks. Slow your roll…..
Try meal worms.
how has it been since the hurricane? I went after and places were pretty inaccesible.
It has fished great for me lately
Fish back in November and this week, mainly doing locations. Hear some good catches after the September flooding. Limited stocking until after NY.
I am averaging 2-3 fish a day with 4-5 hours fishing and I am clueless. If you find a good hole they are here
@1898nc2 They are doing limited stocking at the moment. Per the interview with Hatchery. I would hit under every bridge in Catch & Keep right now.
Wow that's a lot of fish I haven't been to that one but I have been to the one in tellico tn
They are some great people working there down to earth.
Great reporting, brother.
Appreciate you watching!
