Hello Miss, I am currently doing Mining Engineering at Wits and I am desperately looking for vacation work, how and where did you find yours when you were still in Uni?
Hey, sorry for the delayed response. What helps is having a bursary with a mining company, that way they can accommodate you for vac' work. I struggled to get vac work because my bursary was not a mining company. what the school did for us in 3rd year was arrange vac work for us the students who didn't have enough or any vac work to qualify to graduate and do a 4th year project. Talk to the school they are really helpful.

Why did you choose mining as your career? Have you always wanted to be miner? And what would advise someone planning to study mining engineering?
Hi Alice, my reason for choosing mining as a career is that I wanted a career that was not strictly office based. and no I have not always wanted to be a miner, I like to say it chose me. I applied to university for 3 different engineering degrees, and I got accepted for mining at both universities so I went with it. advise..... hmmmm that is a tough one. I would say lead with passion. the politics in the mining industry are draining so if you go in because of passion you will survive.
Am planning to study mining engineering. I found your videos while researching about mining engineering and they are interesting.
