One important clarification: You said 4 different lubrications showing WD 40 as one. WD 40 is not a lubricant or at least not technically. WD stands for Water Displacement and is very effective as a water displacement. It will lubricate temporarily but over time it has an opposite effect. It's great for some uses but I would never recommend it if lubrication is your goal. IMO if you apply it to a spring, you'll shorten its life.

Good to mention this... NEVER, EVER mess with a DIY spring adjustment or replacement. You could loose your entire hand in the process and the wrench absolutely will go flying like a rocket and kill/maime you or someone standing at a distance. ALWAYS, ALWAYS PAY A PROFESSIONAL TO RELEASE & REPLACE THE COILED SPRINGS. IT IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SAFETY PROCESS THAT COULD LEAD TO A POTENTIAL LIFETIME OF REGRET FOR A DIYer!!!

I use the 3 in one for mine every few months in this exact way, However I also spray the chain, is the chain not necessary?

If oiling the roller attracts "dirt and grime" in the roller track, then the same thing would happen to the hinges, the oil would attract dirt and grime and lead to more "problems down the road". So this makes no sense. So you should not every lubricate anything that's not sealed off from dirt and grime if he's correct? If dirt and grime can get in the rollers that it sure as f*** can get in the hinges. I've lubed my rollers and hinges for 15 years and my door has no problems.

Thanks so much for the video! I’ve been having some issues with my garage door being noisy even after I tried lubricating it. Could it be due to bad ball bearings or rollers? Also, I’d love to know how to replace the rollers if that’s the case. Appreciate your help!

Next time I'm going to use a cheap paint brush to spead the oil on. Spray some in the cap or something and then brush it on.

W D 40 is not a lube it’s a water displacement. W D stands for water displacement. I used it to clean my auto loader shotgun and forgot to lube after. Made it a 1 shot gun.

Wish you spent a little more time explaining the difference between silicone and mineral oil based lubricants. They are like oil & water and can't be mixed. What type do manufacturers recommend?

My garage door is getting enough drag I think the pressure sensor is activating and it won't close. Going to do a thorough cleaning and lube following this.

What about the ball bearings in the wheels? Should they get grease or silicone?

I use a piece of cardboard behind and angled under the springs that stops the wall being hit and catch drips. Not fun painting the garage and paint repelling from the silicone on the drywall.

do not use spray lubricant on spring plugs just wrong use bar chain oil with a brush .with door in open position .keep oil1 inch away from plugs.

WD40....not at the gatage door. Take Silikon Spray like any ptofessional would do.

I also lube the overhead chain and wheels since there are small wheel bearings that will wear down without lubrication like on a car. Everything will run smoother and quieter !!!😊😊

Omg this is so incorrect on so many things. The killer was don’t oil the bearing in the rollers. You haven’t been in the garage door industry very long, have you.
