Also I’m sorry for all the commas but there is a lot of information; and this is your very final warning about the gruesomeness of this case. Lacey Fletcher was the 36 year-old daughter of Sheila and Clay Fletcher. Lacey had diagnoses of Social Anxiety disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorder. She loved my little pony and invited her friends to watch it with her for her birthday. She was bullied in high school so her parents started homeschooling her. She was last seen outside her home when she was 24. She was found 12 years later melted into her parents leather couch after her mother had invited a friend over. The house was clean but the friend noticed the worst odor imaginable, and there were tea towels folded next to her. The friend made Sheila call 911 when they noticed that Lacey was clearly not responding. When 911 came, they found Lacey a 96-pound corpse barely clothed. She was covered in maggots and her own excrement. The autopsy reported that she must’ve sat on that couch for 12 years. Her muscles had atrophied and when she had tried to lift herself out of the couch, to escape the pain of being eaten by vermin, she couldn’t because of the effects of her malnourishment. During that time she suffered starvation (her parents would frequently leave to go on vacation and leave absolutely no food, so she couldn’t eat even when she could move) and bone infections, leading to sepsis, her official cause of death. They found her own feces inside her gut and beneath her fingernails, showing that in her desperation to save herself, she had eaten her surroundings. They also found that she was infected with COVID-19. She had been dead one to two days before her mother had called 911. I really want to focus on the person Lacey was, so her memory may live on past our morbid fascination with her death. She was human. And while I did not know her personally, everyone who had interacted with her had wonderful things to say. She was a good person and this 1. Shouldn’ve never happened and 2. Her parents should’ve gotten a significantly more severe sentence. In may 2022, Sheila and Clay Fletcher were arrested and charged for second degree murder and the judge dismissed the charge. So, they were free on bail for almost 2 years. They were re-indicted in June of 2023. Lacey was seen as less than human because of her disability, and this case has stuck with me so much is because I myself am autistic. In 2024, Sheila and Clay Fletcher pleaded for “no contest” in exchange for only being charged of manslaughter. The punishment for second-degree murder is life in prison with no parole. Instead, they were sentenced to 20 years with a 20 year suspended sentence. This is a failure not only of our justice system, but of everyone involved. They got a lighter sentence because our society gives the parents of disabled people more empathy than they do the one with a disability themselves. That is why I’m so upset about this case. That is why we need to spread her name and story so this never comes close to happening again. Again, I’m sorry Lacey, I hope you have even the smallest bit of peace in heaven.

@Tipsforyou-31576ok so i’m not like 100% sure but from what i have heard is she had like disability, she couldn’t move easily and had a very hard time getting around, so one day her parents went on a “trip” without lacy and they left her on the couch and she basically melted in to the couch because she couldn’t move and all she had to eat was bugs, roaches, the couch, and her own waste, and when her parents came back 12 years later she was dead, r “rotting”, and melted into the couch. once again im not sure if that is the exact story but that what’s i have heatd
