Excellent choices (IMHO)... I am very sad about the Épinard Jentle. It seems that either they have discontinued it or it is not available in the markets I visit (US and Canada)

What is the pen you use to write the ink names?

I’ve got a purple one. I like it for the $1 I paid for it at Pop Shelf I can’t complain. The ink I also feel is thin, but purple & now I want one in pink since I know it’s out there. 😂

Lovely pen and a great review - Thank you. This is one of the very few pens which I post, others being the Platinum 3776 and the Aurora Optima. All of these pens, when posted are very nicely balanced and their weight comes up to my sweet spot. I wonder whether some pens are designed to be posted.

The thing I never understood about the Zebra stainless V-301(which I've actually enjoyed quite a bit) compared to these disposable Zebra fountain pens is the feed system. The V-301 has a fiber wick feed like the pilot varsity(another disposable) which to me seems like something a disposable pen would have vs the full plastic standard feed that you would see on many fountain pens, but it is on this disposable Zebra instead of the cartridge refillable V-301.

I’ve been proud of myself for only being into black waterproof ink for the last 2 years and being able to resist the lure of the ink side of this hobby……. But I just had to watch this, didn’t I…. And now there’s now 3 on your list I want 😂😂😂

Definitely you can small something on Baystate but not much when compared to some very very cheap Hero inks.

Be careful when posting the cap on the end of this pen: black trims are painted, and easily damaged by magnet ring in the cap.

Thank you for sharing these lovely inks with us. Ambre de Birmanie is one of my favourites too. Now that I've seen what fugu-syogun looks like on paper, I've added it to my wishlist. My favourite blue-black is by Yard-o-led, and unfortunately they have discontinued it.

Cross ink is so good because it's made by Pelikan, Cross Green is probably my favorite green. Modern Cross pens are so underrated, they perform really well but their designs are kind of outdated or senior oriented, get my meaning? Not exactly appealing. Some years ago I picked a Calais in rose gold from Amazon and I'm really impressed by its reliability, unfortunately it doesn't see much action because it's an M and too broad for my writing, but here in Mexico it's really difficult to get F or EF pens, such a shame 😔

Excellent review. Cross Bailey is a superb starter scribe - robust, inexpensive, & as you assert, multiple colour options. I prefer the Light version - the metal bodied does not appeal. It's a writing implement you cannot go wrong with - but as with all Cross fountain pens, they do err to the wider side of the nib designation - & as long as you bear that in mind, it's all good. Thank you !

I own 20-plus Pelikans, from M101s to M1000. My fanciest is a M910 Toledo, while the most modest is a M120 green/black (solid colors, not striped) that I found on a forest trail. The Toledo M700 that I have is the only Pelikan that was a disappointment out of the box; it wrote like a dry stick. I sent it back to Germany, and it came back writing fine. One thing about Pelikan: Before I knew better, in the early days, I used to buy them with an M nib. Then, I bought one on EBay, and it came with an EF nib only, which I thought was a disappointing choice, but I knew I could swap it out for one of my other nibs. To my delight, I tried the pen with the EF in it and found that I liked it. Now when I order a Pelikan I get it with a F or EF, knowing I have plenty of Ms to exchange if I'm disappointed.

Really great review! This pen's concave section grip allows for a polished metal finish, otherwise it would definitely be a slippery hold. The Lamy Studio is case in point and I would not touch the standard variation of that pen. I do love seeing high-end pens that stray from the classic cigar shape and I find Graf von Faber-Castell pens to be very elegant and handsome; I would definitely choose Graf pens over something like a Pelikan or Montblanc.

I bought the Platinum President with an UEF nib after watching your video, and it has proven to be one of my favourite pens. Such super fine lines, amazing control and consistency, and the feedback is almost an ASMR experience for me. Thanks!

Nice video, I knew that the nib unit could be disassembled like this but I never did, I just flush my twsbi using the piston and grease it once every two months or so, never had a problem even while using iron gall ink.

Black : Montblanc Mystery Black : its a super dark grey that turns black when you overlap letters. Super unique ink... Green: Montblanc Irish Green : Getting super hard to find, but its the most versatile green you can buy. Its just dark enough to not look out of place on a business document. Blue: Robert Oster Great Southern Ocean : You have to try it to see it in person. It's a blue-grey instead of a blue-black, and it's gorgeous.

Does anyone ask what happens if you don't clean it? I mean if you have a tiny amount of some red ink in there and then you fill it with black in, you will still get black ink when you write, you won't even notice the tiny amount of red ink. Tell me if I am wrong.

I don't think you mentioned what type of Cartridge this pen takes. Standard Internation perhaps?

Thanks for your review. I'm thinking about purchasing this pen. Your review helps me a lot. I live in Japan so it's difficult to think about weather this pen is worth for price in Japan. That is what I want to know the most. Too bad that your first ink didn't fit to this pen. It is also an important information for me. I thank you for your additional note above. I wanna know why. (I bet you do, too.) But at least, if Pilot ink works and fits to this pen, it's a good news. It's easy to purchase in Japan, of course. I will keep thinking about this pen for a while. I just got the teal one. Cross was running a special, buy one get one free. I got 4, one for myself and 3 to give to family members. All have a medium nib and seem to write fairly smooth. I do recommend getting the convertor for them.
