Videos made by Matthew O'Brien to share ideas and help other people (especially educators and teachers) use technology to inform, improve and impact on their classroom practice.
I enjoy technology and the way we can leverage it as educators to do things better, more efficiently and more interestingly. I have a huge interest in educational interfaces, especially the stylus/touch/tablet, and video instructional content. I am also one of the weird people that really love playing with data and getting into the hands of non data lovers so they can impact student learning better. This year I have been accepted as part of the Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert program which has created worldwide connections for me and really inspired me to better document my thoughts, ideas and experiments!

Reducing cognitive load with infographics, icons and signs
Переглядів 1,2 тис.9 років тому

I'm using Google Forms to give the quiz. One question is "4. Someone who does a work-study training, in English we call that person an ________________. " I'm parsing (case insensitive) for the word "intern", but I'll also accept "trainee". After the students complete, I export the answers into an excel spreadsheet. Then I parse cells with answers. Cell O2 function which analyses cell N2: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- =if( OR( ISNUMBER(SEARCH("intern",N2)),ISNUMBER(SEARCH("trainee",N2)) ) , "1", "0") 1 = Correct; 0 = Wrong
Cornell notes involves Note taking in the notes section, Question in the Cue section, and Summary/Conclusion in the Summary Section. On onenote a user could use 1 page and 2 sub pages. Page: Outline method or Mapping Method notes Subpage 1: Cue Subpage 2: Summary

why is my pen sec grayed out, im pretty sure im using a stylus, with a drawing tablet. it's acknowledging there's a stylus, it's responding when i click or move, but it wont let me write or draw
The surface Pro 3 test should really use the rear 8MP camera
Thanks Matthew. I have created my sourdough starter and then was going to tackle your loaf recipe in the Solidteknics recipe book but it all just seemed confusing and overwhelming. Kara W. recommended that I watch this video and it has made things sooo much clearer and less intimidating. I'm going to attempt my first loaf tomorrow. Cheers, Esther
Awesome! A picture is worth a thousand words!
T H E C R U M B S H O T
Thanks Matthew! I'm learning how to do this the first time with a group of neighbours via Zoom. It's been good to see your approach with all the details too.
Oh Matthew, this looks glorious.......I will have a go now! You have instilled courage!
FIVE years later ( 2020) and this technology is STILL not ready for prime time . Your better off dictating speech to text than trying to hand write into an application's fields in a 2 and 1 laptop. The freaking Android Phone's user interface recognizes hand written scribble better than windows ten devices easily .
great video but how good would this wor with action figures ?
Hi. Is there anyway to use a template to automatically apply the margin lines etc for every page. I'm a mature student studying s degree at home so this would be helpful
I'm sure you figured something out but the best way to make a template is to create a template section with all of your templates. Once you've created the templates you want, right click and copy the template (Copy Page To option) to the section that you want it to arrive in. Then you can update the title and details as necessary.
is there a 2019 version of this video? as Onenote has updated and changed a lot since the original video in 2015.
Ta Matthew. Learned a lot. Cheers mate!!!
Great! Thanks!
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO NOW I KNOW HOW TO USE THE STOP MOTION THING WHEN I GET IT
